      True. However, they're more than likely to build a very similar EV equivalent. I don't think they'll abandon making sportscars, given how famous they are for their sports and GT cars of old.
      But, this will definitely be missed. 🙁

      @@TD1237 No EV will duplicate the sound of those supercharged V-8s and V-6s. This past spring, when I learned that Jaguar was going EV, I started looking for a used F-Type. I found a 3.0 S manual transmission coupe 2,000 miles from my house and bought it. Only 380HP but way more than I need in the foothills of the White Mountains of New Hampshire, USA. A beautiful car, triple black, and the sound in loud mode is wonderful. Manual F-Types are very rare, only made in 2016 and 2017, very few people bought them.

    Such an underrated car and sad to see it going. The way I always saw this car was like a gentlemen's car, a competitor to the Carrera but with more soul and personality. Shame a lot of people follow their head and not their hearts when buying a sportscar. I followed my heart, I drive the V6s, the best sounding V6 on the market.

      That v6 f-type does sound pretty awesome. I would still go with a v8, which has a completely different sound obviously that is so different it is almost not comparable, but hot damn that v6 sounds remarkable. It definitely blows most v6s out of the water for sound. Of that there is no doubt. These modern day Porsches are generally such a let down for sound. Incredible cars, don’t get me wrong, but F-types definitely bring more in the sound department. Undeniably.

    • @3ducs
      @3ducs Рік тому +1

      @@dlj1285 The V8 is not available with a manual transmission, and I wanted that. The V6 cars are also mechanically simpler, a bit lighter and better balanced. The LSD is purely mechanical, no computer controlled clutch packs. There is less to go wrong with the V6 cars. But if ultimate performance is the goal the V8 has it in spades.
      As for sound, the pre-particulate filter cars are so much better than the newer ones, they don't have that farty sound the one in the video has.

    • @dlj1285
      @dlj1285 Рік тому +1

      @@3ducs This video has absolutely horrible sound, which is shocking for Auto Trader. It is not a good representation at all. Sounds pretty great to me in other videos, and in person. Many say it is as good as the first gen car if fuse 15 is pulled.
      I understand your desire for a manual. That is the only thing I wish the 2024 R I just bought could have had. Can’t have everything I guess, and it’s not a deal breaker for me at the end of the day. The new gen car is supposed to have better handling when compared to the first gen car. The rear knuckles and other bit were revised for superior handling.
      The V8 is pretty solid. Just gotta keep an eye on a few bits around the engine from what I gather, and this is less of a problem on the new gen car as a result of revised parts.
      That v6, excellent choice. A small part of me does find it more exhilarating sound wise than the v8. That’s how standout that v6 is.

      @@dlj1285 Congratulations on the new car! A used car is all that was affordable to me, but it is a good one, 29,000 miles and in great shape when I bought it. A gamble, it was 2,000 miles from me, I had never so much as sat in an F-Type nor could I remember even seeing one in the flesh in the mostly rural area where I live. But it's all turned out well, I enjoy the car and will keep it into my dotage, which at 77, won't be all that long.

My old Evo X was just as engaging, but it is about as comfortable as falling down a long set of stairs. Plus, you're talking about the car that single-handedly revived the pop n' bang exhaust notes. There are tons of imitators out there today, but I still find none that can do it as classy as Jag's. The original pre-facelift design I think will age well too, but obviously it's subjective.

      Don't discount the V6, especially if you can find a 2016-17 manual transmission example. They have fewer mechanical issues, are better balanced, and let's be honest, 380HP is plenty in a 3,500 pound car. My 2016 3.0 S coupe has all the options, sings a sweet song, the manual transmission adds to the fun.

    A great car that would of reached the end of its life with or without jaguar going electric. The only thing I’m sad about having owned a jaguar in the past is that going up market as we are led to believe with there electric ambitions is I won’t be able to afford the opportunity of owning an electric version of there future cars. I wish them well but I think it’s a brave move trying to compete with Bentley.

    It's a bloody shame how JLR has treated Jaguar. From the axing of the XJ supposedly because of low sales, but how can sales be good if they're not investing in their cars?
    In the decade they kept the XJ, only making half-hearted changes, how many times did the S Class and 7Series improve?
    Plus they seem not to know their customers. I don't see Jaguar buyers lining up to buy Jaguar EVs just as they didn't flock to buy the X-Type, XE and E Pace.
    Land Rover is selling because the cars are refreshed regularly and many Jaguar buyers are buying them.

    Hey Rory Love your videos. You are my favorite reviewer (ie F-Pace SVR). I have a black 2023 P450 AWD coupe. The new gen face lift version looks much better than the original version - especially in person. Photos and video don't do it justice. Never had people chat with me so much about a car, turns heads and thumbs up. People love the classic lines and sound of the engine. Never experienced as many smiles per mile, when driving it (I owned 911T, X/1/9, 124 Spyder and more in 70s - 90s. X3 & X6 in 2000s). A work of art.

I think as soon as we see denser batteries coming which allow to pack like 200kWh in a space under the chassis with not too much weight, this design will come bck gloriously. And then it will have huuuuuge storage with the entire front becoming a Frunk. So lets not give up on the gorgeous design just yet.

      I own a 2021 F-Type R, and trust me, it sounds just fine right from the factory. The active exhaust tames the sounds mostly under about 3500 rpm, but after that it sounds great. So, a five minute fix to make it sound better than any Porsche in my neighborhood by a country mile.
