Just a note about your concrete pad size... My plans specified the pad to be something like 4 inches wider than the actual building. It is because of the anchors they use to hold the bottom plate of the building down. If the pad is exactly the same size as the building, the anchors would be drilled out only an inch or two from the outer edge of the concrete. That could cause them to be weak and easily spit or crack out. Pretty sure the engineering requires around 6" of concrete all around the anchors to ensure they will hold under high wind loads, etc. Yes, that can present water issues, but that's better than not having a secure building.
Actually most buildings say NOT to go bigger because if the pad is level water pools and ends up coming into the building, unless u do a rat ledge of course

with being 24 foot wide, does it give you decent enough room to open your truck door from inside the garage? We are going to have to do it shotgun style like this based on the area we have.
i have plenty of room. i park my 2500 chevy in there every day with a trailer hooked to it.
If you would do spray foam insulation it will make that structure a lot stronger. Some really good wins may end up damaging it
Well winds were over 40 mph hour last 2 days and minus 16 degrees. It's still there. Not a simple carport structure. I have a carpet structure at other house.this is made 100 times better. Also has a high wind rating and bolted to the concrete with a vertical roof. I have built red iron and post steel buildings. Post steel is more ideal. Red iron is super over kill. It's designed for really big structures.not a garage. Have a good xmas
@@exterminator1 Don’t get me wrong, I like it, I have had them before. I can tell you from personal experience though, with the high walls overtime it may warp the structure a little bit. If you want, spray foam on the walls and maybe some plywood decking Added to the walls on the inside would make a big difference
@The All Around Guy of course it would. Again I use to build houses for a living and post steel buildings with several red iron. We don't get winds like that here. Maybe a fluke tornado could most certainly happen. But luckily I am surrounded by mountains. That storm did hit 40mph yesterday. And is a super rare accurence. They tubing and braces are sized appropriately to meet standards. So its strong. However, adding wood , metal etc will reinforce any structure for that matter. I have not even started doing what I want to to it. Spray foam is an option.

Very nice. Just broke ground for mine. I'm glad they got most of the pad prepped yesterday. I'm sure the ground is frozen solid today.
