@@TheBigDanShow Do you think you could do an update on the shop? I'm seriously considering going with that particular size and would like to get a good gauge on size compared to a vehicle or any kind of equipment. THanks
Congrats, although it sounds like you have another place that you will move into that will probably have a bigger shop. I am currently building a home/shop and focused on getting the ship in first. My shop is also 30x40 which is about as big as I can fit comfortably (size and cost), which has an 8x8 bathroom in one corner. Mine is 12' high walls with 11' high rollups that are 14' wide, and I will be able to drive my flatbed and trailer in and down and around the basement and backup as a turn around. It's a complicated build, but I just spoke to a foundation guy that is going to give me a quote for the shop slab with some extra cement on the sides for a sawmill and compressor. Keep those outside. I'm going to wire my electrical and have both single phase and a phase perfect converter on a separate 3 phase panel. I have a bunch of machines to setup after I get the shop enclosed. I was going to go fire, but I went with Hardiboard which is fire retardant. I'm stick framing the shop, the trusses are 4' high, so it's 16' high total. Just planning to use TGIs, as they're cheap. My shop is bigger than my house, which is 28'x32'. Basement, main and second floor inside the timber roof structure. I'm not a builder, so this is slow going for me...
I'm fixin' to order my building. What's the distance from the front left corner to the window, entry door, rollup doors, and the distance between the two rollup doors? I'm trying to decide how to space mine out. What you have is what I had in mind. Yours looks fantastic!
hey man you are so funny. Thank you for going through everything. After building, is there anything you would have done differently in regards to frame work, more windows, or additional doors?
I noticed they started at the top with the siding.. I usually see it from bottom up, ya know, think like a rain drop theory.. Also, did they use a Lazer level for the up-rights? The more I watch some of these crews, the more I feel I should assemble my plan myself
Hey thanks for sharing your build! I'm just curious if you plan on insulating it at all? And if you are aware of any build forums for these type of buildings to get some ideas or info from?!?!? Purchased a home with a 22x25 metal building outback, the build looks identical to yours with that 2.5" square tubing they're using there. Has no power, water or floor....getting concrete poured within the week and need to bring power and water to it also....just looking for a site or forum where people might be sharing ideas. Wanting to add side sheds but unsure if the structure can support the weight?!?!?! TIA!
The little small door beside the two bay doors I could take that all the way back living that office part and make the two bay doors Lawn Care shop that would be a nice home plus shop
Many have asked about the frame and where it came from, who makes the kit. What is the code there? The wind load of 150 mph is fine-what about the snow load? Which state and conty are you in? Basic questions here. AKA FAQ.
I just had a 30x40 installed and they finished today. Crew of three took a day n half to finish. Can't wait to use it now! Any video of wiring n insulation?
I wired mine, ran romex between the wall panel gaps & framing. Used BluTex reflective barrier with foam core fasten the the faces of the frame. You’ll need to do some wood blocking in the corners so you can fasten the membrane flush. Was quoted a dollar a per square foot (of covered area) for spray foam (no way).
Did you ever say which company you ordered from? I'm not too far from your location here on the Gulf Coast and need the 150-mph rating also. I've went on multiple websites using their online builders configuring this same size and almost identical door layout, but it is hard to find it with this rating.
What is the gauge of the steel? I'm in middle of trying to get one built. The doors I'm wanting are 12x10 but maybe 10x10 will be OK to pull in truck half ton. Thanks for posting video this helps me.
How’s the shop now ? Living in Baton Rouge , have hurricane’s etc, how is it holding up? Been going back and forth between red iron and this but the cost is effective with tubed .
I didn't catch what company he used. If you're looking into Eagle Carports, keep reading. The following comments are copy-paste from another video review of someone's Eagle Carports install that I posted. I think it's important for people to know what happens when you work with Eagle Carports. Stellar sales experience set us up with confidence... but buyer beware!!! We're currently in the in-between: our garage was erected, a shoddy job - many issues match this person's (in a different video I found) - but we also have other issues. I asked them what options we have. They said they'd send out the original crew to fix the problems. The photos and videos I sent to Eagle Carports were taken AFTER I had the original crew "fix" them, before they left the first time (in other words: don't send the same crew). So, Eagle Carports said they'll send a different crew. First date they were slated to come, I received a text saying they would be delayed til the next week. Then, it was pushed to Friday. Friday morning, they informed me they were running late. No one came Friday. HELLO SATURDAY MORNING AT 6:45AM (the ONE morning I can sleep in): Phone call, "I'm at your front gate." Um, what?! NO! There was no call yesterday preparing us for this, and it's Saturday morning at 6:45am! WTH?! To inform y'all of our issues: Again, same as this video, at least what I watched of it (admittedly didn't watch it all - I was rudely awakened by their fix-it guy so I'm up now and going to post my experience to save others from this experience). Other issues: our price point meant free matching hardware - we got silver (our garage is off-white/bone colored). All the edges (bottom and sides) had exposed insulation sticking out... really good wicking material to grow mold after 1 good rain. The crew didn't erect it per instructions: parts labeled for "back" were installed on the front, the garage doors didn't line up with the prefab brackets, so the crew made their own holes. Same dented-in overtightened screws. Really concerned about the roof construction after watching someone else's review showing it leaking- our interior is covered by the insulation, so we won't know how much it leaks until it's saturated (which will be too late: welcome, mold!) Of interest/note: our concrete slab was perfect BEFORE. Since the erection, there are cracks throughout the slab traversing end-to-end. We gave them the date of slab completion... We had asked about OPTIONS. They offered to fix it. Stung after the first crew (who also demanded us to feed them! Yes, we offered breakfast tacos as we did for our concrete contractors, but they came to our door asking for lunch, and THEN again DINNER! Thank goodness we had a frozen pizza) we hesitantly agreed. Now, this morning's rude awakening. Frankly, my husband would've been happier to accept $ off the bill, except that whatever we would do will void the warranty. Yeah, I'm starting to think that they only post the best reviews, and that they remove anything negative. Now I'm curious how many GOOD reviews are recent? Perhaps they're all pre-COVID? 🤔
This is helpful for my husband's garage plans! Great video! Thank you!
Exactly what I’ve been looking for thanks

Big Dan 👍🏻 Who was the contractor ❓ Building supplier 🤷🏻♂️❓ Tubing Contractor ❓ Why I ask is the tubes look a little bit bigger , heavy dutier 💪🏻
I would have spent a little more and had the walls run vertically. Horizontal ribs are ALWAYS dirty.
It's not a little bit more, it's a LOT more.
Wondering why it’s not insulated ? Other metal building systems have insulation to prevent condensation
what company did you go with for the frame/kit?
Any update? Did you finish the inside walls? Ceiling? I'm waiting on my 30x56x12 to arrive.

No insulation that building will sweat alot
How much do you think it would add to the home value..approximately
buildings only add 87% of the actual value of the garage, so you lose 13%. You will never get more than you put into it unless you're in a hot market.
