Thank you Markus for the great tip for showing the chord symbols of a midi song with the midi cable. I believe there are a lot of people using a midi to learn the melody line of a song and then search the web for the chord symbols usually on guitar playing sites. There are more free midi songs on the internet than free sheet music you see ☺
@@OllyWoo Today I have tested your tip of how can my psr s750 auto detect the chords and it worked! You rock man! Thanks a lot! I don't feel that guilty with the chord sites. I just change the chords where is needed. Some guitarist have to learn better the musical scales to make their life easier I guess :)
Hi, Olly Woo... Can you explain me how to keep a score setting midifile please ? I would like to select definitively the channel 4 to have the melody without the F Key and keep the medium size on the screen for all my songs because I play accordion and need only the score of the melody. That's would be so great to show me the way for doing that ! Many thanks Olly Woo.... I'm french, and hope that you will understand what I mean..... Have a wonderful day. Veronique
Hey Veronique, I understand you very well, greetings to France! In the song editor, set your channels, the save that setup to the beginning of the song making sure that the score setting is selected, and then save the song. You have to do this for each song. I believe the size setting might be global in under the menu button, possibly you can also set a global default for the channels there.
Thank you Olly for doing these helpful videos. I got my Genos a couple of weeks ago and am finding my way around. I have watched all your videos and you like 80s music like me. You really are good at explaining how the Genos works and how to do things. Do you have an email address so I can ask you some questions if that's OK. Cheers Karl.
Thanks, Karl, for your encouraging feedback. Let me know if there are other areas that I could cover. I want to continue building a full style next starting from the drum tutorials and then record a song based on the style. My normal workflow when doing the cover songs. 80s rock 😎
@@OllyWoo Olly that would be a great tutorial series. How you create a song style from the beginning to the end to get the results like in your alphaville forever young video. Do you know alphaville carry your flag song, I would love to make this on the genos, so after watching your future tutorials maybe I could have a go. I have seen Panos about on the psr forum, its a great site and great community for help and tips. There are lots of genos playing videos on youtube but only a few really try to explain the more in depth details of this fantastic machine.....I think you will have lots of interest in this area. All the best for now. Cheers.
Got it, that was a tricky song but actually it is less work for me to redo it in parts ;-) Then I have to also include a tutorial series on doing your own voices e.g. by using the Vocoder and the Expansion Manager software on your computer. I spent two days just to get that Vocoder song right or make my own bass sound for Take My Breath Away.
@@OllyWoo whichever order you do these tutorials will be very helpful to me and many others who get lost in the Genos menus system. Kind regards from the UK. Cheers Karl.
Hi Olly Many thanks for your quick return and your flexibility.... Hope that you're in good health. Imagine that the french technical of Yamaha didn't give me the goods tips for doing that. Other thing.... did you update your Genos recently ? My Genos, sometimes is not working well. The 2.2 version is really good for our keyboard ? Last night, I was working outside for a restaurant, when I switched on my keyboard and wanted to use the registrations memory, it begins to open each one so slowly that it was impossible to unchain the songs liked I used to do.... And the power conditions of the restaurant was good (about 237 Volts). that's strange because, after, when I came at home, I was so worried that I tried again, and every thing whas OK. I didn't know what's happened....A very strange story....... Thanks you so much ! Have a wonderful day Olly !
Hi Veronique, glad I could help, I feel even Yamaha techs are overwhelmed by the Genos. Sorry about your problems, that sucks during a performance. I am still on 2.0 and only using my keyboard at home so I have not had those issues. You know if the score is still too small you could add a computer monitor if it is not too complicated for your live setup. There are USB to video adapters... Everything good here in LA but restaurants are only takeout or eating outside.

And I have also been guilty of checking those guitar tab sites lol, although I always try to figure out the harmonies myself first.

Panos, happy it works for you on your model as well. I should start selling MIDI cables lol
