I'm no pro but I love Titleist golf balls, my first golf ball I used in the 70's was an accushnet which to me was the first Titleist, and I came back to the ProV1 last year, Thanks Titleist

The ProV was THE game changer! I played the Tour Balata, Profesional 90 and the Tour Prestige prior to Pro V. I remember after that first thin shot your tour balata looked like an egg. Titleist engineered an ICON...thank you and congratulations on 25 years.

So iconic that even the issue number hasn’t changed. With all the innovation it should be called the Pro-V6 or 8 or 19 by now, but it’s still the Pro-V1. Amazing. Fantastic that Titleist are still manufacturing in the US. I’m a Brit and am definitely envious, but even so that makes my heart swell with pride for you guys. Always love finding a Titleist ball when I’m playing! Currently playing with DT Trusoft, will go back to Pro-V1 when I’ve ironed my swing out!

I almost feel spoiled because I played Pro V1s when I was a kid and my dad played exclusively Acushnets and Balatas in his childhood. The jump in technology is incredible and I didn't even know the V stood for Veneer. Amazing video.

Fantastic documentary. I am an engineer by trade and absolutely love testing all types of products. The ProV1 was a difference maker for my game. I can feel the ProV1 stay connected to my clubs much longer than any other ball I had tested and that feel has been approached by a couple different tour balls but none have duplicated it. I still try the "new thing" when it hits the market just to make sure ProV1 is still the best for me. I turn 60 soon and my bag still has a dozen ProV1 in it.

When I retired in 2007 after 25 years in the Foreign Service I took a min. wage job a Starter a 9 hole Par 35 course (now closed) in Bristow, VA were I found a lot of golf balls in the woods. The Pro V1 an V1x were always deepest in the the woods on the left where the better players pull hook over swinging trying to get a few extra yards. I still have about 200 of them. A few are marked TEST
I love shaping shots and working at the course and playing for free as a perk gave me the opportunity to play hundreds of solo rounds practice rounds where I’d take a dozen balls and hit three straight, three fade, three draw to dial in my approach shot distances with every club from 3i to LW. The ability to shape shots was unmatched by any other ball I tried. I got to where I could open stance 45° to the left take two more clubs than for a straight shot, open it two clubs worth and ‘Bubba’ it onto the front left of the green and watch it kick and roll left to right to the back right pin.
As Jack Nicklaus explained to me - in his book Golf My Way - back in the late 80’s when I first read it shaping approach shots isn’t about the flight path but the action on the ball. Earlier this year - at age 73 - I had an approach shot on a par 5 to a short sided right left angled green \ from the left side of the fairway and set up so far right / one of my playing parters commented ‘you know you are aiming at that house over there’. I was using two clubs less than I need for the straight distance with face closed, landing it exactly where I had targeted (front right edge of green) it kicked hard left \ as planned and rolled 60ft into the hole for an Eagle 😊 The ball? ProV1 of course!
To paraphrase Lee Trevino, “You can talk to a ProV1. Those other balls just don’t listen.” 😂

People of the world must understand that during mass production, it takes less tolerance deviation to cause a larger error %. Titleist nails it!!! From sleeve to sleeve, ball to ball, year to year, the ball stays consistent!
Go watch a tennis match, notice how the serving player chooses 2 out of 3 balls to use every point. 1 in hand, 1 in pocket. The 3rd ball bounced or felt different, one may say inconsistent...🎉

how does the "roll back" effect the R&D that has already gone into this balls extensive history? & what does that mean for the future of the PRO V1? (I lose too many balls to continuously play with Pro v1's but I have always enjoyed the feel of them)

The golf balls are so important to your game. My 7yr old son plays tournaments, and is a pretty consistent striker. He was using random balls, callaway, Srixon US kids balls. But when we switched to ProV 1x his game changed stared hitting further off the tee and the most diff was around the greens was spinning the ball on short shots and had way better distance control on mid and short irons. It shaved shots of his round for sure. Like I said he’s only 7 but the game is hard enough get a ball that will make it easier for you. And this ball did just that.

  • @reidfarrill3917
    @reidfarrill3917 2 дні тому

I have played all he top balls and I am struck at how consistently good the Pro V1 and Pro V1X are. While I may like some of the other premium golf balls on the market the Pro V1 and Pro V1X are always exceptional. What I find interesting is the early Nike Ball had similar outstanding qualities as the Pro V1 but the product was never launched or marketed in a way that reached the mass golfing market. Perhaps Titleist as the premier ball manufacturer was better positioned to get these next gen balls out to the consumer.

It's crazy how ionomer/surlyn/urethane are still main ingredients of golf balls. Been around for decades. Surlyn and Ionomer are same material guys-just Dupont has patent over "Surlyn" name.

Is it fair to say the Pro V1 engineers outsmarted the U.S.G.A. and R&A antiquated ball testing? "Suddenly I'm hitting it 20-30 yards farther." Billy Andrade.

I would change names to pro v2 once the roll back balls are delivered. This way everyone would be able to determine what ball they are actually playing, it would underline that pro v1 stays „the original“ and „the legend“ forever and the shorter distances would not interfere with peoples egos as much.
Because let’s face it, regular customers are mostly not able to tell pro v1 generations apart and will be bashing the roll back balls, if they influence their game or not…

Um.... Wouldn't it have made sense to switch to the name ProV 2 And then 3 along the way? Just to eliminate the consumer confusion? I mean, if it's always going to stay Pro version 1, why even have the 1? Or even the V? Just Titleist Pro would have been sufficient, if there's never going to be a V2. Right?

  • @Omnis2

Why can't you guys just call it the Pro V [year]? I don't like having to figure out Pro V1 solid arrows vs hollow arrows, etc etc. Pro V 25 and Pro VX 25 would be great. Does Pantene have Pro V trademarked or something?
