A short video like this to learn how to solve a specific problem is handy. I love the longer format for a deep dive in a specific corner of the software but I’d say there’s room for this too. Nice work!

i like it man, i like long videos too. but for the situation where you are looking to do one particular thing, short to the point videos are awesome so you dont have to wait for the info you want to see. I think its a great idea and a way for you to pump out a ton of info quickly to stay in the front of the YT pack.

Great video! Much appreciated. This feature is big for me in EZD3. In playing around with it, I feel like EZD3 is doing something to the one shots to make them sound different at different velocities. Like, a lower velocity hit may play from later in the sample and be slightly lower pitched in addition to being at a lower volume. The result is a lot of flexibility from plain one shots. I know Battery 4 and XLN XO have features like this, and SSD 5 *claims* to, but to have this ability in EZD3 keeps the workflow all together for me. You could also save a kit with all the pieces deactivated and then just activate the ones you want to layer sounds with from the second kit. I do with the one shots would be sent to the kit processing in EZD3, but they are completely independent of whatever processing is going on in any preset you use.
One issue I had was that I was trying to use one shots in the Action EZX, and the interface was very fussy about where the sample was actually dropped. The kit piece I was dropping on would be outlined in orange, but the outline wouldn't appear when the sample was right over the kit piece. Also, I saved the project but not the kit with the added one shots, and when I went to reopen it, it crashed the latest version of Studio One. So, a few kinks to work out there.

Interesting, I will have to check that out myself when i dig in a little further. I assumes that it should be typical Velocity = Volume like the other EDM EZXs. You're saying something different.
Yeah, updates will be pouring out sooner than later.
      Thank you, Hewitt!

For extra layering snare sounds, I guess you could even assign another snare sample to one of the toms and then copy the snare midi to the tom midi note (Or assign the tom with the sample to another midi note value.)

Would be a great solution for people only using Standalone mode!

Do you find yourself doing this very much so you get a blend between two instances? I have done something similar by adding two separate drum kits and then taking out all the parts I don't need, and balancing the two to my liking. But is this very common? I know this is simple is SD3; and that is a feature I really like about SD3. Good video, Shawn! Keep the short ones coming, as I want to record, and not spend hours watching UA-cam videos! Yours are worth though, as it doesn't look like Toontracks is paying you, or giving you extra bonuses for talking about this gear.

Ron!!! I do and I believe so for those that understand options in the DAW. One thing I also like to do when composing muti-genre songs, instead of Blending, I will literally replace snare and kick with my second EZ Instance... like if I wanted a knocking four-on-the-floor beat just for a chorus, i can switch over to a dense kick and electric snare, back and forth quickly. Then I just mute snare and kick midi notes in the first instance of EZ. I've got an older vid for it, lengthy though, you probably get what I'm saying.
No TT relationship thus far and thank you so much for your words that without a doubt encourage me.
