It gave me some ideas on what to do with a couple of my granddaughters old Barbie dolls she and her sister messed up. That is if I can talk her into it, lol
How to get girls:
Buy a giant lantern and place Halloween props in them, the cauldron is especially top tier, that will get you her number for sure.

I’m glad you loved my enclosure! It was the avic enclosure with the glued on water dish. I got it to stick by adding a looooot of glue lol. I’m so excited you loved it!

this was really fun and i'm impressed. not one of them was "bad" although i did give my opinion on what I might have done differently. thank you so much for sending them in. if you posted yours on the post within the first 24 hrs, and it wasn't featured in this video, it should be featured in part II ^.^
I'm glad you liked mine. I might add a painting against the back of it so it isn't bare in the back (which was what you commented on). But my A hentzi Gwen really likes it and explores it all the time! Btw, most of it is live plants, but the big leaf one with three big leaves is fake. It's positioned over her hide to provide cushioning in case she falls (She likes to climb)

@@tarantulakat I'm an artist so I like to do stuff like that. Might use a dragon for Gwen's enclosure. She's quite the character, and by having the background decoration on the outside, I can easily remove it when I use her for education purposes, so then there's a 360 view of her. (I volunteer at Wildlife Rescue and her great personality makes her perfect for their educational programs)
There is a A. avicularia set up with terrestrial hide, thats a no go. Thatswhy she have webbed so much. But beside that one there are some really good set ups! Cool video!

This video has given me some great enclosure ideas. I had never even thought of converting a lantern. This is the perfect time of year to get a lantern. The trick will be making sure to seal off all the escape routes without compromising the aesthetic.

Hooray! It’s my Aphonopelma seemanni with the big skull in the tub and my Avicularia avicularia in the cheese ball tub 😛 Thanks for the pointers!! I was also worried about the skull falling onto her but she’s made a really cool ledge underneath it like the T-Rex skull in the tub after it. As far as the A avic goes, yes the pebbles are for the crickets and not for the T as I know they are capable swimmers or at least floaters. Thanks so much for featuring my enclosures! 😍

With the Arizona blonde remark. I live in Arizona and have had my az blonde for a while. Arizona is actually fairly humid. I travel all over the state for work and see an average to 50%to 65%. And a little higher in some parts of the state. Definitely some really good enclosures for sure though.
Can we do one more! I’d absolutely love to share a couple of mine with everyone in the hobby!

Hey there Kat. Nice video! Been watching the stuff on your channel for a while, and you have made me interested in starting the Tarantula keeping hobby 🙂 got a question about enclosures, and that is where is the best place, in your opinion to get them? The exo terras I think are the best for display purposes, but they’re kinda expensive and can’t afford to buy multiples of them. That’s why I was gonna go down the storage tub route, at least to start with. Also, any good local places you recommend? I see you’re in St. Louis, I live about 1.5 hours south, so any recommendations would be great. Thanks, and keep up the nice work!

Also my B hamorii with the fall flowers and the pottery/ steer skull. I handmade the pottery and skull from polymer clay.

Whenever someone shows pics of their fossorials I just think of that gif of Jack Sparrow in one of the pirates movies going "ive got a jar of dirt, ive got a jar of dirt", lol.
Also, damn I didn't realize how shitty a photo I took of my enclosure (mine was the critter keeper [24:10] where you were like "yeah this is similar to a setup I would do"). I snapped that pic first thing in the morning when I was half awake and was trying to show how much substrate I put in there, but I didn't realize how water stained the sides are! You can barely see the tarantula! I guess I just don't see the point of wiping off the water stains when it's just cosmetic and stressed out the tarantula. It also doesn't help that my g pulchripes thinks her fake plants look better uprooted and horizontal, lol.
Great video, Kat! Some people have some really awesome enclosures. I've never tried to do a bioactive enclosure, so kudos to all of you with live plants in your enclosures!

hi thank you very much for sharing this wonderful video about keeping tarantula. I have subscribed to your UA-cam channel. I was just wondering as I am a complete beginner and live in UK and as it isvery cool/ cold temperature most of the time during the year according to my research online and other UA-cam channels/ community they recommend using/ havinga thermometer/ hydro metre (For measuring the humidity and temperature in the enclosure) & possibly as well a heating mat. I was therefore wondering if you could or anyone else watching knows or at least could give some good and useful and kind advice as I am thinking about getting into this hobby of keeping spiders/ tarantula. Alsonotsure what kind of tarantula is good to start for beginners considering that they seem to puve for a long time if kept well/ do everything well. 😅😊

I am thinking of a fossorial enclosure, from some deep 7 gallon jugs and then it has a 4 inch opening for the top, or large enough for your arm to go in.
I was thinking about drilling a spider web pattern on the top, with the holes. The only issue would be easy access, I could drill a 1/2inch hole in the lid, for a sprayer and some crickets then plug it with a cork. For a 21 inch jug enclosure, probably like 12-14 inches of substrate. So it might be a ugly looking enclosure full of dirt, but oh well. You could also do a pretty arboreal enclosure, with more plants and branches and less dirt, maybe one of each kind on a shelf. I am not sure what kind of spiders I want yet, female juveniles or adults, but I don't think dangerous would matter since I don't ever plan on rehousing.
horror movies have to be a pretty common T keeper hobby. maybe find some stand up comedy T's. or some kinda spider drama

Just got into the hobby and all 5 of my Ts are small slings atm so... no proper enclosures to share T_T.
Well - tbh I already made one enclosure and moved in one of my mantises (added a mesh on top to allow climbing) - hopefully after it dies one of the slings will be large enough to move in.
Idk about the whole "you can go too big." but I mean, the world is the world's most enormous enclosure in the whole world. It deserves a medal.
A hide, a water dish and a fake plant are about all I'm good for. I mean, I'm too lazy to chew gum. I spend most of my time reading.

4:30 my A. geniculata has been burrowing since i got him/her. is that weird or am I doing something wrong?
Mine burrows A LOT but it is still a sling. From the best I can tell with my others, slings always burrow more than adults. If yours is small, too, that is probably why. If not, it might be trying to find humidity. Instincts in the wild are to dig for water, so if they get dry, sometimes they do that. If your humidity is fine, it is no big deal, you just have one that likes to dig!

Hmm maybe that’s why Petko never used the green agate skull we sent him, I would just hot glue it to a side, I think allot of ppl would glue anything heavy.. 😩❤️👉🏻🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦👍🏻
