The History of C & N - Cartoon Network's Forgotten Mascots
Вставка
- Опубліковано 4 жов 2024
- Cartoon Network has been around for 30 years. Despite this, the network never had a definitive mascot similar to SpongeBob. However, in 2010, C & N were introduced in Cartoon Network's bumpers and promos. Unfortunately, they have faded into obscurity in recent years. So in this video, I will shed some light on Cartoon Network's forgotten mascots.
All photos and videos belong to their original owners.

I wonder if Brian and Nick have ever been interviewed about their time with CN, I'd like to hear their experiences being in costume or voice acting as the characters. Hell, it'd be nice to at least have them show up in Multiversus in some way.
YES! Maybe as 1 fighter, kinda like an Ice Climbers situation, or as an announcer pack
They did have ONE interview during their time at CN, it was made in like, 2012
8:27 In The US C Wears White Shoes And N Wears Black Shoes
8:29 In The UK C Wears Black Shoes And N Wears White Shoes
I remember these guys! So cool to see a video done about them!
These guys would appear in bumpers and interstitials before a commercial break during a few movies CN held the rights to, announce and narrate promos and up next bumpers for original and acquired series. They even narrated other products related to Cartoon Network.
Same remember these guys when I was a kid
these guys were so charming, big part of my childhood, also, incredible video my guy! amazing editing!
Big part in your childhood more like small part in your child drawing, ha ha ha
YOU GROOM MİNORS.
MINOR GROOMER ALERT
I miss them. I miss CHECK it 3.0. Just take me back to 2013 already. I was happier then.
CHECK it 3.0 is probably my favorite CHECK it iteration and probably my favorite CN era
@@MO1M_Official ME2
Same, take me back to 2011-2015 already.
You dont miss the time, you miss being able to make yourself happy. But at least make an attempt to make urself happy. Thats what i did and i am happier than ever. I get all of my responsibilities done first and enjoy the rest after
I actually legit thought I was the only dude who remembered the c and n like 5 years ago
I think the costumes may have been designed by Scollon Productions, since they did all the Cartoon Network/Warner bros Mascot suits
Dude, we have never heard from C and N in a long time.
You know this is one of those times where the term "underrated content" actually makes sense because has 425 views. This deserves way more. Like at the *very* least 150k views. This is some enjoyable content and I will subscribe to you
These mascots have raised more questions than anyone else could comprehend.
I totally remember them!
Dude, life was lit back then when these guys were around.
i do to

That's so funny! 🤣 I like the part where the character launches the Television screen in the house and he gets his foot stuck on the rope and he gets crashed in the house like through the window shouting "OH, PLEASE, NO!" and then... CRASH!! Ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha! That made me laugh.
I'm creating a cartoon. It's called, Forgotten tales! It's about these forgotten and obscure characters that go on wacky and crazy adventures.
Imagine that would happen
@@mariobabbo3497 Yeah.
Oooo take reference from the Gumball pilot please
Wait, I think I might've seen that on DeviantArt somewhere. Does it include Problem Solverz, by any chance?
Hey! Great video, nicely detailed and doesn't forget the nerdy details that I like to see.
I wanted to add that C and N actually had a show, well... technically. The clips you showed from CN France on an yellow background were actually from a miniseries called "C et N font des vidéos", where C and N talk about these very childish everyday situations at school etc, they even have parents lol. This style of filming was then reused in the CN MDR block as the final set of bumps in late 2015, which had them announcing the next show (before the block got discontinued).
CN France actually ran wild with C and N, in 2014 with the introduction of CHECK it 3.0, they actually went above and beyond and gave us our own C and N, with our own announcer duo on bumpers that were US-styled rather than European-styled. We were really eating good back then. And the irl images you showed were actually from an event called "la journée mondiale du prout", which was a day where CN France's team installed a giant whoopie cushion for everyone to jump on, including C and N!
It's kinda sad that they removed all the interaction they had with their viewers, they're extremely bland nowadays, even more than CN US. Television in general is getting rid of these fun additions that kept viewers interested, CN is getting blander with their branding, and same applies with the rest of TV stations.
I'm very glad you enjoyed the video. Also, thank you for sharing some of the information surrounding C and N's presence in France. I had no idea they had such a big presence in CN France.
@@KingLaneCreations They had a big presence from 2014 to 2016, they really tried making CN France closer to its US counterpart in many ways, they felt very active and didn't really feel like a European CN channel anymore (usually European versions of American channels take very few risks and never do operations like these)
@@KingLaneCreations it sounds like you’re saying cnn instead of c and n
You know if both C and N ever make a comeback and get both their own TV show and own movie, that would totally be legit for sure! It would also be legit if they made a bigger comeback on the network by making brand new ads of the characters by the company!
Lane my friend you’re right it’s time for this two to return in my comic series
Cartoon Network had a few "mascots" besides C and N. In CN's early years, it was Fred Flinstone and occasionally Scooby-Doo. During CCF years (1996-2004), it was whatever show was the most popular at any given time like the Eds. During CN City, there wasn't really any mascot as every character was represented. During Noods, it was the noods characters obviously. Check It was C and N, and Dimensional/Pastel is either Robin, Gumball, or Craig.
I loved C & N, networks need to do more stuff like this.
I remember those mascots from the 2010s as that's also the CN era I gew up with in. Man I miss them so much.
I remember C & N
The last time I saw the two was when they where advertising the Peter Pan movie from I think 2014 or 2015
Man I miss C and N so much
I just wanna know what's it like to act in a costume that's just a brick of fabric that covers your face & head.
I miss these guys.
I feel like CNN we're probably voiced by the narrator for the juicy drop commercials at the time
I actually forgot about them until I found this video.
I remember the UK versions of them
Benson: subscribe to lane right now or your fired
RIP C and N 2010-2017
Brak: hey buddy my name is Brak and I want you to subscribe to lane
Spaceghost: or else I’ll blow up zorak
Zorak: subscribe to lane
Moltar: yeah
Spaceghost: shut up moltar
I remember these guys. Good times.
I miss them
ZORAK AND BRAK IN THE THUMBNAIL RAAAGGGHHH 🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️🔥🔥🔥🔥
I've recently been obsessed with watching old broadcasts of Cartoon Network and this era has not been saved it seems in the way the 2000s was which is such a bummer cuz this era has so much life to it and cable TV as a whole feels like it had a shift to being boring Bland and uninteresting and not worth watching when 2016 started and everything cool that TV was died that year everywhere or at least began to. one of the shows which was coming out in 2017 that I was excited for coming out welcome to the Wayne suffered from this Bland shift. many other shows have as well that they came out before 2016 on television would have survived and even thrived.
ahh so nostalgic!!! i think i grew up in the same era
2:40 Hey, that kid has the same name that I have, Jeremy.
I’ll admit, I originally didn’t like the cn city bumpers cause of course I grew up with how Cartoon Network was before hand, basically being cartoon cartoon Fridays style for the weekdays. Then it grew on me cause of how the characters interacted outside of their respective shows.
Black hat from villainos is a cartoon network villain from Mexico /latin amarica areas.
Checkerboard Era: Jester
Noods Era: Noods
CHECK it Era: C and N
These are the list before C and N.
Omg I remember this
2:48 more like, what the dog doin?
Fun Fact: C and N actually first debuted (outside of America) in some of those CGI animated bumpers around 2007/08. Tho, they were prototypes.
Really!? Are those bumpers on UA-cam?
@@KingLaneCreations Type down "Cartoon Network idents" and you'll find them.
in that 2007/08 bumpers, they look different than the current one.
here is some difference to C and N.
1st one:
the font looks different, the font they used was Eagle Bold, which it was used on the CN logo by 1992 to 2009.
2nd one:
they don't have arms and legs, instead, they just used their corners to walk or catch or hold.
3rd one:
they don't have a voice yet, instead, they just do noises like screams, etc.
9:09 They Have Headholes On Top Of The Blocks Are Covered The French Bumpers
Can you please do a history of Sky (Cartoon Network's Athlete Mascot)
Also Cartoon Network's Powerhouse Era.
I do like Cartoon Network mascots with C and N that so cool! It so nostalgic and look like the logo so cool.
4:54 I remember that app when you watch show up and play game down nostalgic but show and game be something random but it still fun. Also remember when I watch Cartoon Network app to watch show.
People forget about them?! I'm disappointed...
Why not the Cartoon Network app make videos on Cartoon Network with the watch and Game feature it's a forgotten one
If Reshiram and Zekrom was people
They made two consonant letters gay manchild husbandos I can't believe it
I am! I'm a mascot of Cartoon Network because I'm a Cartoon Network Guy!
C & N: the new wilkins and wotikins
Cartoon Network Characters Like Brak and Zorak Got Moved To Adult Swim. Same With Samurai Jack. Even If C and N Didn't Talk About A Many Characters Including Them, I Don't Know What Happened To Them.
But these mascots are canceled
It’s Cartoon Network 30 birthday
11:16 is roger craig from sonic voice
I remember,
@Lane I respect your opinion.
This dudes really just said that the early 2010s CN bumpers were on par with the CN city bumpers Lmfaoooo. Yeah maybe behind the powerhouse and checkerboard era lol. As for the whole fleshed out CN mascots thing I’d have. To just disagree, the characters themselves are the face of Cartoon Network that’s what set them apart from something like Disney or nick with sponge bob. And it’s probably why all the cartoon both old and new resonate so much with both newer fans and older fans and that been true for most of cartoon networks life span. And is why the almost all the eras of CN are so beloved especially the CN city era. So while I disagree with you’re take I respect it for what it is .
You are just being nostalgic, first of all CN City could've never lasted, it was made with a show selection that is limited and that was very costly to maintain. That's why it got replaced, because it was getting old with the new shows being introduced.
And secondly, yes, CHECK it is on par with City. It had colorful and effective bumpers, a creative direction, dope music, a killer 20th anniversary event with characters interacting like in the City era, 4 iterations and mascots to go along with it.
Also did you really say CHECK it was worse than Powerhouse and Checkerboard?? Wow naww you did not say that lmaooo, the bland bumpers with simple colors and backgrounds, that mark the very early age of their branding??? Nahhh
4:30 I see SEGA in the Background.
They were promoting sonic boom
IGPX is forgotten.
That show used to be on Toonami back in the mid 2000s.
I Don't Know What Happened To C and N. I Know When They were around, The Channel Did Live Action Shows. Also, I've never seen the Guy's Faces.
What about the ones in 2007 it shows c and n without bodies or arms
The international CGI ones?
Well... yeah. They did debut earlier. But even then, they were mostly prototypes.
Can't you review Moose and Zee Noggins mascot forgotten just please
Lane why can’t you mention Steven Universe.
i did not forget them, liar
Anything from 2000-2010 is goated any after 2010 is 🗑 🤷♂️ imo that’s the worst era of CN..
ScoodyDoo Wfghknn?
Noods
