- A broadcast signal intrusion (or signal hijacking) is a term to describe television cable broadcast signals being suddenly interrupted by a usually unknown party without permission. Such events of this topic that are of notoriety are the 1987 Max Headroom Hijacking and the 2007 Playhouse Disney Pornographic film incident.
This incident in particular has less coverage on the internet and media, due to the scarcity of information given. On the morning of the 25th of July 2005, on the Nickelodeon channel, what was intended to be a casual, uninterrupted rerun of the animated series SpongeBob Squarepants, would be unexpectedly disrupted, and would display bizarre visuals in its place along with "unsettling glitches".
This broadcasting glitch was only isolated in the northeastern region of Washington so this wasn't a nationwide event. It's currently unknown what the hijacking contained, although according to a few archived news posts, where a parent stated that all that was mainly featured was typical distorted imagery and "confusing subliminal messaging". Nickelodeon and world renowned cable broadcast company "CloudyCAST" would respond, apologizing for the inconvenience and CloudyCAST even stating it to be an isolated issue that occurred at a nearby facility. No other details were provided, on exactly what the hijacking contained or its length. Nickelodeon and CloudyCAST would conclude that they will try to figure out the source of the incident, and try to catch the culprit responsible. Unfortunately, no other updates or further details on the aftermath ever surfaced, at least not to the public, and the broadcast itself was never found, becoming lost media.
On October 11th of 2007, a video would be uploaded onto the internet via UA-cam and frequently shared on 4chan by user "Brianmatthews4", presenting the entire hijacking that occurred that morning. The video spread across the web like wildfire. However, all known traces of the video would be removed off of UA-cam for an unknown reason at the start of 2008, becoming lost to time...
Until now.
I have just got into contact with the original uploader on Discord, now going under the username "Ternip". They have just provided me the original video that was left on one of their old flash drives and have given me permission to reupload it here today.
This is the only surviving recording of this hijacking left. Please do the best you can to prevent this video from getting lost, share it to other media-sharing sites, save it to your computer, prevent it from any terminations.

One thing I really like about this one is how the hijack feels like it's not directed to us, but a person that we know nothing about. There is no context given but it still feels like the person this was done towards knows the full meaning and reason behind the hijack. Very freaky

My god this is amazing, easily the best 7/25/2005 remake. it all feels as if it were to genuinely someone making a video in the early 2000's reacting to a hijacking on nickelodeon. The tv menu, static, and switching channels adds even more to the immersion. But out of everything, when the Gary takes a bath episode started, this felt more than a 7/25/2005 retake. It felt like something straight out of Needlem0use, like a Needlem0use Spongebob, and I loved it. I loved it so much in fact that I had made designs for what they could look like. So overall I would give this a ten out of ten, and if you're wondering yes I did find this from PigPigGamer's video lol.

That was one unsettling analog horror video. Absolutely nailed the OG creepypasta! After looking at this video, I realized it's from Trollpasta, but wow, you really turned this into a huge fright fest! Kudos to you!
That was just a trollpasta that was made after the original 7/25/2005 video, I don't think the og creator made it, I think it's there mainly because the author was accused of plagiarism

I love in the tv guide for ed edd n eddy, it shows “Luck be an Ed Tonight/Room With an Ed" which never got finished and never aired. just a nice little detail that adds to it all. also seeing house of mouse and rolie polie ollie on the guide hit me in the face with nostalgia. this whole thing is very well made

Here's my theory:
Section 1: Context:
Back in 6/1/2007, a guy by the name of Brianmatthews4 uploaded a video presenting the entire hijacking that occurred that morning. The hijacking featured 2 episodes of Spongebob Squarepants: Your shoes are untied and Gary takes a bath. At first, the episode seems normal, until Spongebob was getting ready for work, when he tripped at the entrance of the Krusty Krab, Patrick said: Hey, Spongebob, but Spongebob didn't respond, instead it looked like he was gasping for air, Patrick says Hey, Spongebob again, but this time he ends up In the kitchen, still lying down, Then he appears to be in a black void but In the same position, then the episode seemed to be back to normal, but when Gary got out of the shoe, It started glitching again, then the episode ends, and the commercials just come on, but then, It stars getting unsettling. Then the episode Gary takes a bath comes on, while gary was looking at the clock Spongebob was supposed to come to Gary but he just wasn't there, suddenly Spongebob appears, but his face was just corrupted and full of PNG's, then we can see a person In the background but his eyes and his mouth have black bars Spongebob's eyes are covered by an eye PNG, and Gary a face of a man, then we hear some text on the screen, the last text mentions a person called Jerry, we hear some unnerving music, It gets cut off and shows a picture of a house, then we have some text a bottom and we're mentioned 2 other people called Nicole and Anthony, then we can see 2 people In the front yard, then we cut to some text saying Thank you, then after some more faces appear and sound effects we get an error screen.
Section 2 Theory:
At 6:23 when It starts getting hijacked the three faces (the second one being Spongebob's eye PNG) Each of them represent the three people mentioned In the tape, the guy In the backround Is Jerry, Spongebob's eye PNG represent's Nicole's eyes, and Gary's face Is Anthony, Jerry was the person writing the letter to Nicole and Anthony at 7:04 , Jerry was sorry that he kept threatening Nicole that someone he knows would hurt them. After he got arrested, Nicole forgave Jerry, and we know that because at 6:28 the text represents Nicole's words.
It's a great theory, however I think it should be known that I was mainly basing this video on a comment I saw on the NiceAndCool 5/1/2023 video (m.ua-cam.com/video/U7hcwrFENyY/v-deo.html) by commenter "thisisachannel.2609". I'll recap what they said here;
"To clarify, Jerry and [REDACTED] were really good friends before they went on a date, best friends even. And since Jerry killed [REDACTED] and her kids. She wanted to get some hard revenge on her husband. The message seen in 6:28 "WE WILL BE FRIENDS AGAIN" seems to be [REDACTED]'s way of telling Jerry that she's going to get her "revenge" on Jerry, and it's only a matter of time, think back to the part of the video where Gary is seen looking at a clock emotionless. That probably represents Jerry's time left before [REDACTED] gets her revenge."
I mean, it is all mainly speculation but I thought it was interesting enough to incorporate it into my retake. But I think it can be interpreted anyway if it fits well.
In the retake, I gave [REDACTED] a name and they became Nicole, I also added Anthony probably as their child. Also, the censored face is actually Nicole's face. Yet the eyes are still meant to represent Nicole as well (?). Also, the face of the man covering Gary is actually supposed to represent Jerry, not Anthony.

Not gonna lie, despite only having heard of the creepypasta/ARG, the idea of the hijacker associating Spongebob with the despair they feel about Jerry, Nicole, and Anthony honestly made me tear up a bit. Incredibly well put together :')

absolutely amazing, I love how this was treated as a hijacking yet strangely feels like it was made for someone, as the hijacker in question knew that the. Perpetrator was watching SpongeBob, that when it was in the kitchen. It was almost as if the breathing was the hijacker running towards the perpetrator's door, breathing to get there in time to see their reaction. And when the connection ended they did something to them.
I love how you gave a little ''Walten Files'' type reference, it gave me a lot of goosebumps.
The one most clever thing about this entire video is that CloudyCAST isn't even a real company. The writer made up a whole cable network just for the ARG. Absolutely insane.

This is really interesting! It's almost the same as the original 7/25/2005, but it adds it's own charm and originality to it! I like how it doesn't just cut to the "Gary Bass Loop" section after the weird "Spongebob on the floor of the kitchen" part. I do think there's some flaws, though.
- An overused trope where the video cuts to a weird, distorted part where the characters and background are replaced with faces, then having very cryptic text about meeting someone else
- OneTrueMedia intro + WMM editing (Although I don't mind the WMM-like editing, I feel as though the OneTrueMedia intro is a little bit inaccurate, just me, though)
Everything else looks perfect! I give this an 8/10.
