- I had to give Making Core Shot Swimbaits a shot after seeing someone on a Facebook being able to do it with no modification to their molds! Making Soft Plastic Baits with Do It Molds is so fun, and you can do things that no lure company can do on a large scale production, and making core shots is most likely one of those things.

Looks good, great color for crappie!
Small mouth would love the chartreuse as well!
Love the core shot and I like the way you actually showed that it didn’t work. I have the mold with 3 ripper Shad so I will try what you did. Great video
Thanks! Bait making is trial and error! Especially in the beginning
Wow, that was cool, really learning a lot from watching your videos. Thanks Again
You’re welcome! Thanks for watching! Did you see the video about the difference between cnc and cast aluminum?
@@MattLunaFishing Yes I did watch that one. I'm thinking about trying the es series first and see how I like them. I saw a guy spray paint a es mold and got a smoother finish. I think the smooth sided baits would look better with the precision mold. Thanks
Yes, I’ve heard about being painting the es molds. I’ve tried that and it didn’t work for me. What I’ve found worked okay was just using Pam cooking spray. Don’t use too much but it definitely gave the baits a decent shine to them.
I ordered the Do-It starter pack with the senko mold to get started. Got extra colors and pearl hi lite. I may not be able to start right away because of the cold weather out here. I hear ventilation is very important and I'll be working in my detached garage. Thanks for all your help. I don't know how to do the link thing. But I'm going to call Do-It and tell them Matt sent me .
That’s awesome you got it! You’ll have some fun for sure! Thanks for calling them and telling them i sent you there!
Nice. The color looks good for up north in muddy water
Totally. The color didn’t turn out as I wanted, but it still turned out as a decent color. It turned more good than I wanted.
I made some glow in the dark core shot swim baits this week.
That sounds pretty cool!
hollow core baits loaded with catfish bait are really fun to use when looking for channel and blue cats
I can imagine! Sounds fun!
Super cool
Thanks! It was a fun bait to make!
I would buy some !!!!!those were cool man no doubt hella good idea !!!!
Thanks! They are a pain to make in bulk to sell. I may do something like that at some point, but not at this time! Thanks for watching!
Called in sick this morning, feeling like crap. Nice to wake up to a LUNAtics video.
Haha bummer you’re not feeling good, but glad you were able to watch the video!
Those would work awesome for walleye. I haven’t looked into the shipping costs to Canada yet. But every video I watch of yours the more I learn.
Awesome! Glad you’re learning from them! That’s the point for sure. Check into the shipping. I have a code right now that will save 25% off the mold. The code is LUNA25. Maybe with the code you’ll be able to offset the shipping costs
Matt Luna Fishing sounds good thank you. Look forward to more videos. I’m headed out tomorrow ice fishing for walleye burbot pike and perch
More to come for sure! Good luck with the ice trip!
practice make perfect but informative. Will try it tomorrow. Thanks
Awesome! Good luck! Hope it turn out good!
Awesome! Good luck! Hope it turn out good!

@@MattLunaFishing creator and fisher . love it
Haha i try to do it all! Trying to get better at all of it!
@@MattLunaFishing i just stick to fishing , got to say i like those soft lures .
All of it is fun! I enjoy making the baits and fishing them and it’s awesome when you catch fish on the baits you make!
That's cool man keep it up
Thanks!
digging your videos man. i started making jigs a few months ago and find the "bait laboratory" therapeutic. i'll venture into soft plastics at some point i figure.
Thats awesome! Glad you’re liking the videos! I have a good time out there in the laboratory as well!
In case your looking to get any new molds, i have a code for the DoIt Molds website that will save you 25% off any molds. The code is LUNA25 and it will expire on the 22nd.
Thanks for watching and commenting!
Great idea. I've seen core shot worms before and they look great. How about trying a lizard next.
I don’t have. Lizard to do, and that may be tough. There’s not enough thickness to the body like a swimbait or stock bait
Probably right about the body being too thin.
I’ll take a look and see tho
That’s badass
Thanks man! Thanks for watching!
I'm not on Facebook but have been doing this very thing with my ripper molds for a while. Next is a laminate Ripper with a coreshot dark lateral line!
Wow that’s gonna be pretty cool to see. I know I’m not the first to do this with the rippers, just figured I’d share the process if it worked for me.
Good luck with that ripper, i bet it’s gonna be an awesome bait. Crazy what you can do with a little imagination!
Matt, enjoyed the video but did not understand what you made the rods from.
The rods are just steel rods i bought from Home Depot and cut to fit. They are 1/8” in diameter.
Make my own plastic bates but never tried mixing any other colors like your videos
Give it a shot! It’s pretty cool!
Nice dude that was Awsome 👍
Thanks for watching man! Glad you liked it!
Dang! Those came out Bad @$$! I could imagine a clear grey with a red core (bleeding shad) or the same clear grey with a chartreuse core (threadfin shad). Heck even creating your own bluegill type color. I wonder if there is a way to keep the tail and shoot it with a needle or syringe (without the needle) since you have the opening already without putting it back into the mold? Anyway, that is awesome!
Yeah there’s so many color options you can do. You could probably keep the tail by cutting the tail off while still in the mold. It’s just almost impossible to get the tail back in once it’s out.
@@MattLunaFishing I was thinking maybe possibly leaving the tail on, but maybe using a syringe to hand inject it into the hole manually. I was just thinking I am sure there are times you want the tail the same color as the main part of the bait. Regardless... I really like this... I need my own bait laboratory. I think I'd be good at it, the down side is I already have a ton on my plate. I could see it being relaxing.
I ve always wanted my workshop to be able to reload... but adding a bait making shop would be awesome! Just already pot committed on other household projects! Maybe later down the line...
I understand being busy with everything. I know what you were meaning. Doing to manually would be really hard and kinda tedious. Not to mention how hot the plastisol is. Your idea is possible and something i may try
You need to use a darker color for the core. (black, red, purple) all work well. A light green shell with a blue core works well also.
I was wanting to have a clear shell with a bright chartreuse core. I shouldn’t have put the glitter in and I think I would have gotten what I was going for.
The darker cores will make for more contrast for sure
What do mean by the flashing?
Flashing is when the plastic squeezes out the sides of the mold and there’s a thin ring around the bait on the seam
@@MattLunaFishing Thanks man i plan on ordering and trying out. Good vids
Awesome! I’ve got a bunch of other tackle making videos. I’ve got a playlist on here that you can go through to learn more!
Been watching for a while. What size rods did you use for your core shots. I have the same 3" ripper mold. Great idea. I assume the rods are SS
I don’t remember the size. I got them at Home Depot. I just eyeballed them when i was there. I got two different sizes and the larger was the right size. Thanks for watching the channel! Really appreciate that!
@@MattLunaFishing Thanks, thata kinda what I was gonna do.
Sorry for delayed response. Have you tried it yet?
@@MattLunaFishing I am still working on getting the right size rods
Got ot
what type of oil did you say you put on the metal rod?
Just worm oil!
What length did you cut those rods to? I have both 3” and 3.5” ripper molds
I don’t remember. You need to make sure you have the nose open and the tail open for it to work, so long enough for that
@@MattLunaFishing thanks Matt just got back from Home Depot with the 1/8th inch rods, I’ll report back 👍🏽
Right on! Good luck!
suggestion is dip your rods in worm oil lol never mind you did it hahaha
Lol all good! Thanks for watching! Hope you enjoyed it!
@@MattLunaFishing truly did
Awesome
whats the size of those little rods you used as the core?
I think they were 5/32 in diameter, but I’m not 100% sure. They may have been an 1/8oz. I bought a couple different sizes from Home Depot when I did this.
Nice Video I Subbed !
Thanks for watching! Glad you liked it! Thanks for subbing!
What FB group man?
I don’t remember the specific one, but there’s a handful of soft plastic bait making groups you can join.
First of all, it's easy, this is the silicone feature you use or what kind of silicone do you use, you really succeed in your hobby, if you share information about this product with us, maybe there can be better trophy hunts, best regards.
