$100 Star Notes: Look For Low Print Runs Of Less Than 640,000!

What is a star note?
Star notes are used by the BEP (Bureau of Engraving and Printing) to replace misprinted/damaged currency before it goes into circulation. These replacement notes are printed just like normal notes, except there is a star printed in the serial number. On Federal Reserve Notes, the star is where the block letter normally is (the last letter of the serial number). On Legal Tender notes and Silver Certificates, the star is where the prefix normally is (the first letter of the serial number).
Print Runs
Star notes are printed in what are called "runs." For the current printing systems used by the BEP, the maximum run size for star notes is 3.2 million notes (100,000 32-note sheets). Sometimes, this many notes are not needed, in which case less are printed. If a partial run is printed, the next run will start at the next closest multiple of 3.2 million. Star notes get their rarity from the quantity printed and released into circulation. Generally, collectors consider runs of 640,000 notes or less to be rare. Many times, collectors refer to star notes by their run number. This is determined by the number range that the star note's serial number fits into

I read recently that there are more $100 bills in circulation than $1 bills due to money laundrying and international crime. So, my guess is that the 50 or the two dollar star notes are the rarest.

I have a $100 that has a stamped line on the left side of Franklin's face and continues down past his lapel and also on the reverse of the bill it has some stamped lettering in small print shooting out of the top of the building! It is circulated with a small tear at the bottom, but I don't know if I should have it appraised or try to sell it on ebay, because I'm not positive that it was done at the us mint, or at printing of the bill? Anybody got any ideas? At the top and bottom of the line it has two tiny short returns toward his face about 1/32 to 1/16 of an inch long.

Sorry, but the $100 star note not the rarest star note.Since 2008 the BEP has printed 192,000,000 $100 star notes, far more than any other note. There are more $100 bills in circulation than $1 bills. I get them way more than $50 or $2 star notes. What are hard to find are the low print $100 star notes. I have a 128,000 print run.
