Jerry is one of the best songwriters in rock music. I think he's largely under-rated. He written some of the most beautiful and the most melancholy songs I've heard. Keep them coming, Jerry!
@David Doll, THAT'S RIGHT ❤️
I agree, DITTO 💯🤘
Everything that has ever happened is underrated
Yes. Black gives way to blue album is Jerry's masterpiece for me.
I really think he has proven that. At 55 his new cut "Atone" is classic Chains sound. he has his smooth voice still and their sound has not changed as far as vocals and sharp guitar work. Sometimes you can never Atone so dont evn waste the effort, just move on!
Absolutely underrated
You know, the first three albums of aic (and jar of flies too) came to me in a time of my life where I needed to feel a companion in the dark. I needed to feel like I wasn't the only one feeling dirty, depressed and suicidal. Those records helped me to cope with that, I was very young. I still love them and listen to them regulary. And while Layne had a lot to do with those albums, the brain behind those songs was Jerry and we all know that.
But now jerry gives us this album, and while it's not aic or degradation trip I can't help but think this is the album I needed to listen right now. An album that gives me hope, not dark vibes. It has light, it sounds uplifting sometimes, and the sadder songs or "darker" songs (if we can call them that way, not much of darkness in this record) are all in a different tone that the ones on aic or even degradation trip. The "brighter" single healed me from a few personal stuff when it came out, and now I feel this record is doing the same. I really loved this album. The lyrics, the lighter songs, the vibe. It sounds like a wiser man singing to sorrow by accepting it and embracing it, finally. Very different from what he did on Degradation Trip.
I don't expect everyone to feel the way I do, but do you guys understand how lucky we are that Jerry is still doing meaningful and beautiful music for us? I hope he keeps doing it for many more years. I was 14 when I discovered aic, now I'm 27, and I still feel the company of jerry's music.
I couldn't agree with you more. Jerry Cantrell is the most pivotal artist making music today. He's a legend who luckily made it out of the Seattle scene battered, but not broken. He's been my favorite for over 30 years. I like to think we grew up together since he's my age. Seeing him in concert with a meet & greet next Sunday! All these years later & I finally get to meet the "Rifflord".🤘
@@BelaLugosi1967 damn! how cool is that a meet n greet! Hope you have a great time. I really hope he comes here to play solo stuff, but I highly doubt it. Have a blast Sonya!
@@luchboxer thank you SO much!!! And, please pray I don't pee my pants! 😬
can't help but notice that you didn't give a nod to Bogey Depot in your post. Just found it a little amusing, since it's such a great record.
@@BootsORiley it has great songs, but it's not as dark as his alice in chains stuff or degradation trip. That's why I pointed it that way
1 year ago today my papa died and I was listening to degradation trip and specifically the song “gone” now exactly 1 year later Jerry releases a new album. RIP Papa and thanks Mr.Cantrell!!!
This man never stops explaining exactly how I feel. This is the best damn music ever. Heart and soul in this music folks...none more TRUE.
Jerry is just one of those musician/singer/songwriters who never writes a bad song and his fans never get tired of hearing his music,no matter what band he's playing with.I think the word is "signature".
This has a 70s vibe, there's a bit of The Allman Brothers Band crossed with Jerry's grunge metal style, it's beautiful, whta's not to love???!!! God bless you, Jerry!!! ❤❤❤
Big Riff Lord. How can you not love him?❤
🎸⚡️😉
@@foxjohnny120 🤪❤️
The songs on this album feel like they all belong together. I'm really digging this vibe. Been listening to lots of Beatles last couple days and I'm hearing it here also lol
I dig it
Great vibe on this album..i have always dug Jerry's country songs and this album is more in that vein..most don't get that he's peppered country type tunes throughout his solo albums..good music is good music.. Period

Love bless you
Thank God ! I love you Jerry
Fuck this was worth waiting for!!! Excellent!!
Wow! Loving every song! Love ya Jerry
20 years ago, I would have said something stupid and dramatically naive in the vein of, "that's sellout..." because I knew (and, frankly, still know) jack shit...but, damn - while I love "Atone," this tune really hit me on the SECOND time through... thank you, man - for giving us other dudes a glimpse into what songwriting looks like.
@Taft Williams Jerry is so amazingly talented.. I've been a fan of Jerry's solo work since Boggy Depot. Degradation trip was the best for me.. the song had a profound emotional impact on me. These songs are all great and I'll love them all too after a few months.
DT he was obviously on drugs, but this sounds clear headed.. I hear a lot of the time he's spent in Oklahoma on this album.
For me Brighten is him saying I still got dark shit in my head but I made it through the storm...
A true music legend. Thanks for the tunes 🤘
I love how his okie side of him is showing throughout this album.
Jerry, here saving my life once again.
‘Nobody breaks you, like you in your heart’. Very important reminder. Think good thoughts, guys. ❤️
Thanks for your endless love and support towards my career over the years, you’re a big fan🌹🌹...
Where are you from dear?
The only people who hit “thumbs down” on any of these songs on this album, haven’t followed Cantrell or Alice In Chains through the years and/or don’t know their backstory.
I LOVE the entire album 🔥but this song hit me in the gut. Mr. Cantrell, I'll always be one of your biggest fans, and keep the music coming, whether it's Alice or solo!
Hell yes, Jerry! Congrats for your new album 🔥
Jerry se tornou um grande vocalista. As harmonias vocais estão incríveis. Acho que Layne se orgulharia. Jerry é a alma do Alice in Chains
Sim!!! Em algum lugar li que Layne sempre o incentivou a cantar...
Sim!!
@@lucianaok477 Sim!!
Jerry is the boss!
o layne sempre sera o coracao do alice in chains..
I absolutely love this album and his music!! His voice is so ethereal!!

@@jamesmason1347 "Settle down"....what's with this need of yours to control???
Yes Jerry! You are the best singer, songwriter of all time
C'est un super compositeur Jerry Cantrell !
Every Thursday night I go to “vinyl night” with my boss and his friends (I’m 26) who all graduated high school early 90s and we drink old fashioned’s, smoke weed, and chill and listen to records on the host’s awesome record player setup. Someone was playing this song tonight, 8/18/2022, and I heard it for the first time and I fell in love with it. My boss and I just saw Alice In Chains perform at Pine Knob Theatre in Clarkston, Michigan a couple days ago front row and it was absolutely amazing. Jerry is such a frickin fantastic musician, I’m so thankful I got to see him perform. Seriously a dream come true. Thank you Jerry! Your music is alive and well, even with 26 year olds in 2022
graduated 1990..always been a aic fan but cantrell is the core of it all ..seen him 1999 on bogey depot with metallica the man is a supernova of talent
Good song Jerry

Jerry im loving this beautiful work of yours 🎸🌹💗
BRAZIL LOVE YOU!!!!!
Oi!
This one reminds me a bit of ‘Scalpel’ from AIC. I remember thinking that track had a country vibe too.
I can hear the time he spends in Oklahoma in this album for sure
Amazing!!
Love 💙 another great one 🤘🏻🖤 nice vibe, very true Jerry.
Maaaan this song!!!
@Jerry Cantrell oh shut up
DONT LOSE YO SOULS BROTHERS
LoveThis♥️♥️♥️
I've been praying for Jerry to make more country/bluegrass since Degradation trip 1/2 was released, and I hope he continues to do so. A cover album of his influences would be so rad!
Whoever the hell said "Let's get Greg Puciato" Should get a free pizza of any size and any topping.
Are you sure? I mean, that's kinda overkill but ok. Either way, if you wanna test a man's character, give him a free pizza.
I think that was Tyler Bates.
@@lukebryde594 GeniusBates
@Bonjour I personally just want A juicy jumbo jack even tho there are better burgers out there. Like it’s been said before though, if you pizza when you should have French fried, you’re gonna… uh… you’re gonna go straight into the Twilight zone.
Makes sense, Boggy Depot was dark this is bright
Degradation trip was dark...
That chorus is so moody and emotional. I love this song.
I love everything on his new album. Excellent song!
Jerry Cantrell > Everyone
Jerry's voice got stronger after quitting smoking
How long ago did he quit?
I love every song on this album. Soothing balm for my soul. Thank you sooo much Jerry for you music.
Simplesmente incrível, que álbum maravilhoso, Jerry uma lenda do Rock!!!!

Nice
Shedding violence, tended to withdrawl
Charming serpent do the belly crawl
Paint chips cracking, flaking off the brain
Tide slapped pilings, revel in the pain
Yeah (something inside you)
Yeah (feeling like...)
Nobody breaks you like you in your heart
No one could write a more self hating part
Loathing the author who doctors the chart
Nobody breaks you like you in your heart
Die
Do or die
Echo's cryin, ring a lonely tone
Shipwrecked surprises, gnawin at the bone
No small comfort, taken with the news
Ingrown silent, kill yourself with you
Yeah (something inside you)
Yeah (feeling like I do)
Yeah (something inside you)
Yeah (feeling like...)
Nobody breaks you like you in your heart
No one could write a more self hating part
Loathing the author who doctors the chart
Nobody breaks you like you in your heart
Nobody breaks you like you in your heart
No one could write a more self hating part
Loathing the author who doctors the chart
Nobody breaks you like you in your heart
Die
Do or die
Die
Do or die
Pure genius....you just don't get lyrics this great anymore. And cantrell consistently writes them
