Ladies and Gentlemen, It's our hero Mr. Cantrell.
HALLELUJAH AND ANEN 🤘🙏
Amen
This song looks like Dandy Wharols . But Jerry is the king
Hero might be a stretch.
Uknoit
No doubt one of the greatest voices to come out of Seattle.
my friend lives there now
Man Jerry makes it easier to keep fighting in this fight called life
Cheer up charlie 🤣
Much needed right now ✊
Just like that,s!Good observe!
The melody reached my core
@@thechabaudproject3098 - Yes, sir ✊
Guitars solo sounds like "hurts, dont it? " but now it doesn't hurt, it heals your soul.
Right!?
indeed.
yeh is it a duel guitar or is it a guitar effects. reminds me of deg trip so yeh i like that part.
Fuck YEAH
absolutely. From minute 3:41 to 4:25
You know, the first three albums of aic (and jar of flies too) came to me in a time of my life where I needed to feel a companion in the dark. I needed to feel like I wasn't the only one feeling dirty, depressed and suicidal. Those records helped me to cope with that, I was very young. I still love them and listen to them regulary. And while Layne had a lot to do with those albums, the brain behind those songs was Jerry and we all know that.
But now jerry gives us this album, and while it's not aic or degradation trip I can't help but think this is the album I needed to listen right now. An album that gives me hope, not dark vibes. It has light, it sounds uplifting sometimes, and the sadder songs or "darker" songs (if we can call them that way, not much of darkness in this record) are all in a different tone that the ones on aic or even degradation trip. The "brighter" single healed me from a few personal stuff when it came out, and now I feel this record is doing the same. I really loved this album. The lyrics, the lighter songs, the vibe. It sounds like a wiser man singing to sorrow by accepting it and embracing it, finally. Very different from what he did on Degradation Trip.
I don't expect everyone to feel the way I do, but do you guys understand how lucky we are that Jerry is still doing meaningful and beautiful music for us? I hope he keeps doing it for many more years. I was 14 when I discovered aic, now I'm 27, and I still feel the company of jerry's music.
Ive had a very, very dark week. I think “mental breakdown” is the best way to describe it. Thoughts coming from the darkest void the human mind can dwell in; rock bottom, if you know what I mean. Today i finally felt a glimmer of hope and then this album just dropped about an hour ago and I immediately put it on on apple music and man, this song really does it for me. This and Nobody Breaks You are really lifting me up. Jerry is one of my biggest inspirations and he has done it again. Love this guy
Wow man. Cant imagine being so fragile
@@yrmthr You wont have to imagine it when it takes you one day, brother
@@derekgornall I’ve been there recently too, and many times. Its definitely not hard to imagine. Music is very powerful; I’m glad Jerry’s album came to you at the right time 🙂
@@derekgornall Jesus said it,before Jerry. Right ? Don't have fear ! You are the light ! Know it and know it's already done.No one can stop you for leading a good life if you really want to and Jesus is your Lord and Adonaj is your father ! I am a christian for over 15 years now and believe me:It's stunning, what happens in my understanding of all things. :) If you have Jesus you can pass ALL things.ALL !
Glad this albumed helped, sometimes the only thing that can reach us is music. The toughest challenge we can face is facing our darkside, but when we do and win that is huge. So hold up a win for yourself while you play this brother
Another EPIC song by Jerry.
I love me some Jerry Cantrell 😍😍😍
Hope you are having a great day?
@@OfficialJerryCantrell702 hey there I hope you are too sweet thang 😍
eat his butt?
It's almost surreal that a new solo album was released. Makes the year worthwhile!
Best thing to happen this year.
This song hits me in feels like few others. Not too proud these days to admit that Jerry and Layne have helped me learn to cry when my heart is broken. It’s helped me make it through.
Jerry Cantrell will always be my favorite musician of all time. So much flexibility in his writing. He has been most influential to me as a musician myself.
He is such an under rated musician. but its great that way he didnt become an enourmous star that shines too much for the eye
My papa passed away 1 year ago today and I was listening to degradation trip specifically resonating with the song “gone” and now exactly 1 year later Jerry releases a new album. RIP Papa and thank you Jerry!!!
This song is so great. Even tho this really isn’t the style of music I prefer I enjoy the darker heavier shit more this is a quality album and great song. Jerry one of the best songwriters ever
Well said! Same for me!
Totally agree. This song has really grown on me…I must have listened to it dozens of times now…
Same. But I love he's got a wide variety.
I agree with you- it really shows here.
I agree with all of ur comments! Jerry if u hear this u keep so many of us hanging on! In todays music ur the BEST employee we all got!!!! Thanks man.
I have my Pandora set to "Alice in Chains" radio and they play this often. I woke up this morning humming this song...and it's been in my head all damn day...so here I am listening to it again. Love it man!
Saw Jerry last night at the eastern in the ATL. My nephew and I were lamenting the fact that he hadn't been playing this song on the tour...until LAST NIGHT! My absolute favorite song off the new album. Thank you Jerry!!!!
I have it on aluce in chains as well ; wow
Same!!!
One of the best overall songs Jerry has ever written and goddam if it hasn't come along at the right time in life for me... Hell, this whole album as inspired me to start writing music again for the first time in a decade.
That's amazing!!! It's the real feel of music, as you can hear the instruments, as you should be able to. I hope your music composure went well for you.
If you've got some music, I would love to collaborate.
A little “hurts don’t it?” in there I like it mr cantrell 😏🤌🏻🔥
Atone and Siren Song are the highlights off Brighten; but this song is the hidden gem off the album.
This song is absolutely beautiful. Also I love that at 3:40 he uses the riff from Hurts Don't It (at 1minute 15 second mark). That song is beautiful too, but he took the pain from that song and made it hopeful in this new one.
Nice observation…Hurts Don’t It? 😞
Hurts don’t it is so good also, Jerry is truly a genius
I noticed that too!! It was very nice how he wove that into the tapestry of Black Hearts and Evil Done. I absolutely love Degradation Trip Volumes 1 and 2. Great album!!
Just checked it out. I love that stuff.
@@patmcgrath4908 you should listen to the full 25 track degradation trip 1&2. It’s a phenomenal album. Really dark and depressing like AIC but man the album is incredible. One of the most underrated albums ever. Somehow there is even big AIC fans who have never listened to it
So amazing!! This is a song wrote by a man who has learned lessons with age. In the so called winter of life. You know the point were your too old to die young and to young to die old. I am in that space too. I now have older kids and I do not know who I am when I have spent 21 years with my kids as the center of life. Now I have to let go and let them fly. And now I m left with the pain I have pushed down and kept it there by staying busy taking care of my boys. Now I have to dig through that mud to find me. There is beauty in holding on but there is also beauty in letting go. Or so I m told..........
Beautiful comment, resonates with me so much...thank you✌💚
Same..herr..kids become your life and define who you are and when they grow n leave your kinda left standing there wondering..now what am I gonna do?..its a very confusing and frustrating time
Too old to die young, and too young to die old, that reminds me of that Fidlar song "leave me alone" Too late to die young, and too young to burn out. But anyway, it's never too late to make a new start, start a new chapter, not even for a marinemom ( marinewoman;)
Your words described my stage of life perfectly. Been busy for years working hard in the rat race and raising fam.....watching the years slip away....not exactly sure where to go from here....music inspires, especially Jerry's.....I'm not ready to give up just yet. Find your focus, find your youth, and make the winter of your life the best you can. Keep chasing dreams!
Great analysis. I appreciate the point you make of Jerry being a man with many learned lessons. It's a reminder that he's just as human as all of us (even tho his talent is otherworldly!) and at some point, he cannot continue to live in his past. This album is a new take yet still has his elements from AIC. A perfect mix. People need to understand that artists grow personally and artistically. Given his past interviews, I think he is moving on to an elevated stage of his career and life, a hopeful one where he has already grieved and healed. He seems to be a stronger, greateful, and wiser man, appreciative of his learned lessons, hopeful and prepared to take on brighter days. We'll always love you and root for you Jerry! Thank you for making our lives better!
I love this American sound , strumming guitar, Slide guitar, it's so exotic 😍
Check out Ben Prestage. A local Florida cigar box guitar swamp lord. You will dig his style
I have this song on repeat! My favorite song on the album so far!
same man, i love this song! very unlike Jerry but man does he do will with this classic rock / country style genre.
Mine to!
Ready for the Grand Ole Opry!! I always knew Jerry was a genre spanning artist.
Touch of country here with a sprinkling of Beatle-esque or George Harrison type lines or riffs. Jerry is great, no matter what he does! Love all his stuff!!
I remember watching him say how he grew up on country. It’s so nice to hear that influence shine here
Also sounds a bit like the Manic's 'From Despair To Where' at the beginning.
I love this song so much. Never fails - when he sings the pre-chorus my eyes well up.
----------
I want to build something, something alive
Digging for a fossil suspended in time
I want to feel something, something alive
Missing like a sunrise too cloudy to shine
Directly quoting "hurts don't it?" At 3:41,as awesome as he was since the start of his career!
Was looking for this comment, not disappointed!
What a Treat...12midnite...I was just gonna watch a video on Narcissistic Abuse, and I saw this brand new Jerry Cantrell video on top of the queue...So I’m listening to this instead...This is my Therapy for the night...Music Therapy
Jerry Cantrell, you have no idea of the impact you've made to so many lives and to music itself. Your vocals, guitar playing, and song writing abilities are out of this world. From AIC to your solo music, it can't be beat. Thank you immensely for your contributions. I only hope I have the opportunity to see you in concert one day. 🤘🏻🖤
Rockin my sweet heels off!! 🎶❤
I REALLY LOVE THAT EVERY SONG ON THIS ALBUM THAT WE'VE HEARD IS SO DIFFERENT WITHIN THE SONG STRUCTURE OR COMPOSITION, IT SEEMS THAT IT'S TAKING THE LISTENER THROUGH A SPECIFIC STORY FROM DEEP WITHIN YOUR MINDSET AT THIS STAGE OF YOUR LIFE, LESSONS LEARNED, MORE PERSONAL IN A SENSUAL, SPIRITUAL, FINALLY SECURE WITHIN YOUR OWN SKIN, COMING OUT FROM DEEP WITHIN YOUR SOUL! WE ARE THE LAST OF THE BABY BOOMER'S AND WE'RE AND ARE THE MOST CREATIVE OF ALL THE GENERATION'S !! AS WE HAVE APPROACHED THIS MOST IMPORTANT TIME IN OUR LIFES, WE BY THE GRACE OF ALL THE HIGHER POWERS MADE IT TO THIS LAST LEG OF OUR JOURNEY, ( 30 MORE YRS. HOPEFULLY, LOL ! I'M ONLY 60, AGE IS JUST A NUMBER ) I THINK THIS IS YOUR BEST PERSONAL ALBUM YOU HAVE DONE!!! THANKS JERRY! 🎼🎵🎶🎤🎸💫🌕🌑☀🔥👆✌💜
Stunning song. Country was always in jerry from the start. Beautiful
Absolutely, 'Fly' was another great one from AIC's last album, Ranier Fog.
From acoustic to electric, Jerry always crushes it on guitar!!!
Thanks Jerry for your creativity in every song on the Brighten album (cd or whatever it’s called0. Thanks to the band, roadies, techs, . . . Thank ya’ll for touring!!!!
Absolutely my favorite track from the new album!!
This album gets better with every listen. Jerry is a living legend!
I'm loving these new songs. They have a classic rock vibe, which is never a bad thing.
This is one of the best songs I've ever heard.
This new album is gonna be straight flames. Super happy for new Jerry
No curvy flames?
He is staying true to his sound, while CLEARLY adding in new flavors we had never heard from him before. Maybe you're just negative and pessimistic about most things, or maybe you just don't really have an ear for music. Either way, have a nice day!
this song literally encapsulates everything wrong with the world today, but creates a brightened look on our future. thanks Jerry for giving your listeners a sense of hope and making our world a better place!
I cannot express how happy Brighten makes me. Love Alice but this is epic! Thank you Mr. Cantrell!
Cleaning on a Sunday morning Labor Day weekend. Chillin w Mr. Cantrell’s chill tunes. Much respect to the King 👑
Ok. After listening to this album 3 times. This is my favorite song on this album!
"Out with the old stuff, in with the new" makes perfect sense. My favorite line in this intoxicating tune with a pinch of country added 🎼🖤 #Brighten
Love that country vibes ♥ It reminds me of 31/32 from Degradation trip.
yes
This album seems like he's come to terms with getting old and a reflection on lessons learned from it
Not old🤭 just older!
@@flyingburritobro68 well I always say not old...GOLD
Like a vintage guitar….Not old but opening up in a grand and special way. 🎶
"Hurts don't It?" on the guitar solo, cool
🔥
To me, this album just makes you feel good inside. It "Brightens" you lol. I think I get why Jerry called it "Brighten". Absolutely love this album! Thank you Jerry!🤘
That's an amazing thought!!!
I love the Western sound, it's something unsettled but better left. Memories to let live
.💋
Great song Jerry...you could not wrong! It has a Tom Petty vibe...Dig it. RiffLord 🤘🤘
My personal favorite of the album.
Me too!!! Such an amazing song!
Growing on me big time.
Atone and Siren Song are the highlights, but this one keeps getting better every time I listen to it.
This song and album is very good
I was thinking not bad,an average song by the master with maybe a touch too much country flavor for my personal liking, BUT.. then that shift at near the one minute mark hit and i fell out my chair out of excitement. I learned don't judge a song by the first few seconds!
@Joe Smith jerrys music is like that, you will hear extra cool shit that he adds in the more you listen
In 2019 of December I went to a bar in LA and I had my facelift shirt on and the bar tender goes “oh fan of chains huh?” And I go “hellyeah”. He tells me that Cantrell was here last weekend! And that he was working on a solo album! And now after waiting all this time it’s here! it was an agonizing itch for sure knowing he was up to something lol
Home is much better than prison. Trust me... Love you Jerry! Sounded great in Wheatland (9/7/22)!!
This is Jerry's "King of Pain".
Some things do get better with a little age and maturity even when you think they can’t.
Jerry greatest guitar player of our generation. One of the greatest of all times!
He is a talented person, blessed with the ability to pursue his musical ambitions and materialize his ideas.
accurate depiction of closed eye visuals.
This song is really therapeutic for me now
its been a long while since I heard a pop song done this well. Radio is full of trash these days, this should be playing non stop.
Here we are a yr since this was released such a beautiful song I can't get enough of this song brighten is a brilliant record start to finish.
For an old fart headbanger, this album is special. Not enough killer music these days. FN kids are soft.
Knowledge they are soft..I’ve seen AIC n Jerry so many times I’ve lost count.Saw him n Seattle & going to see AIC n September rock on 💯☮️🍻🥃🤘🤘
Again I am speechless…… damn this is pure gold~ good to the soul~ magic ~ thank you 🖤🤍🖤
Such a potent combo of poignant hurt in the soul, and hope for a better future. A man who has demons, but is dealing with those demons and growing in spite of them. Really powerful song.
Greg puciato is a great harmonic match with jerry vocals
Such a great songwriter. Just when you think most music of today is hollow, this comes along...... thank you Jerry!!
Great guitarist and vocalist. Timeless voice ❤❤❤
I love this song Sweet Thang. I’m so proud of your accomplishments. This album is a freaking masterpiece 💕
Another beautiful song with the unique Jerry Cantrell / AIC sound. Legend.
Always
Jerry, congratulations on being the greatest songwriter of Generation X! Yes sir that is a bold statement but I lived that shit! I've grown up on your music, both Alice & your solo stuff. Boggy Depot helped me through a very dark period of my life in the early 00's, it will always be a very dear piece of work to me and one of my all time favorite albums. Thanks again sir for your contribution to my cultural universe, your work makes life a little more tolerable. Love ya Jerry!
Jerry "chorus King" Cantrell
So beautiful, almost surreal, my favorite. I'll be listening to this one so much for the next years, I already know it. Awesome work again, Jerry ♡
Not as dark as his usual stuff. Love it!!
My favorite song on this album. Jerry just nailed It!!!
Beauitful, Jerry. The riff, the melody and then something that you have to say.
Such a beautiful voice. Still the master of sexy guitar riffs!
!
Unreal song
JERRY is the king of Rock ❤❤❤ see you in April #jerrycantrell
Top notch so beautiful to be able to share this moment with all of you ❤️
This is a great song- I love it. It's nice and light during the verses, with a deep chorus. Love your genius. I swear, their stuff gets better and better- I feel like a child in the 80's when I listen to this song.
Dang, Jerry....well damn spoken. Thank you~~~
true and accurate with out a doubt.
luv you brotha
amen
Excellent songs, as usual. Thank you for continuing to create music, Jerry!
Applause to the musicians here.
Man Jerry's the best I do like the song it reminds me of what I'm going through!!
Jerry, you're the best!
Like the finest smooth wine - only improves with age. Damn Jerry - you've come a long, long way with many miles yet to go ... your strength and will to go forward is immeasurable. The years may not have been kind for you, as you sing in your songs - but the years have been kind to you for our sakes. God Bless You.
LYRICS
Too many heads broke, too many times
Tired of the same joke, tired of the grind
Comin' down's a bitch low, harder to stay
Same punk in the mirror, different the day
I want to build something, something alive
Digging for a fossil, suspended in time
I want to feel something, something alive
Missing like a sunrise, too cloudy to shine
Oh, here it comes
Equal to the sum
Of black hearts and evil done
Too many heads hung, too few can be
Tired of the lies spun in the land of the free
Selling out's a mission, deal settle or sue
Same crook in the White House
Prospecting me and you
I want to build something, something alive
Digging for a fossil suspended in time
I want to feel something, something alive
Missing like a sunrise, too cloudy to shine
Oh, here it comes
Equal to the sum
Of black hearts and evil done
So many visions, faded enslaved
Slammed home in a prison, forgotten locked away
Comes a decision, break your heart in two
Out with the old stuff, in with the new
I want to build something, something alive
Digging for a fossil suspended in time
I want to feel something, something alive
Missing like a sunrise, too cloudy to shine
Oh, here it comes
Equal to the sum
Of black hearts and evil done
Amazing 👏♥️
The great
Jerry Cantrell is my favorite country singer.

Love this
Great song thank you keep playing Jerry😎
I love the meaning of the sun represented on this album. 🌞
Beautiful.
Love the new record. This is my fav track on it. Started to learn it on my acoustic. Such a great song.
Great tune and album. Different than the others but in a good way. Love the pizzicato violin work in this song. Adds a nice unexpected touch.
