  • Do you know how everyday products are manufactured from petroleum feedstock? In this video, our 2020 summer intern Gairy Natividad reviews how common everyday items are made from petroleum. She reviews the basics of distillation, removal of impurities, as sheds light on just how much of our lifestyle can be attributed to the oil and gas industry. There's also a special mention of products that have helped us through the pandemic such as face shields!

@@cannotbeshaken7889 Firstly I do recognize how important oil and its product is for our existence, but that dependency is making our lives very difficult and lethal: climate change. Pollution. Oil spills and leakages. It is calculated that one average american life time emissions is responsible for 1 premature death via climate change. Plus I am not saying anything is going to kill the planet, we are talking about the worsening living conditions of human. Planet will survive. We should lower our oil consumption and prevent the most catastrophic consequences of climate change.

@@teemulaulajainen9410 How is the oil worsening the living conditions of humans? You don't explain. Just from some oil spills? The world is never going to be perfect, nothing can be done perfectly at all times. The pro's from oil far out weigh any cons that come from spillage.
There is no catastrophic climate change. The sea levels have been rising since the mid 19th century. Long before humans started emitting anything into the atmosphere. And the rate of the sea levels in the past 100 years has only been rising about an inch per decade. It has raised 8 1/2 inches in the past 100 years. Which is completely normal. Even if the waters got too high you would just build seawalls and canals. The Netherlands have been underwater for hundreds of years and are doing just fine. They build seawalls and canals. Also, often times the rise of seawater is due to the land sinking, not the water rising.
The ICPP sends out reports every few years and there is never any evidence what so ever that the earth is getting hotter. If anything it shows a decrease in temperatures.
There has been no rise in floods, droughts, tornado's, hurricanes, cyclones, earthquakes, hail storms, thunder storms, etc.. They are just reporting them more so they can blame them on Global warming. Look at the statistics yourself and compare to a hundred years ago. Nothing has increased. Nor could any of those things be a cause of global warming in the first place anyways. The droughts occurring in central Europe are actually from cold weather, not hot weather. The Europe mega drought that gave rise to the great hunger in Ireland was due to a harsh winter. You need to read the data yourself instead of trusting politicians you don't know, who obviously have an agenda to control our energy and us.
Fracking does not make the sun hotter, neither do cows, or farming. There is nothing we can do to lower the temperatures of the sun. Nor do we need to.

Hi I am a freshman and I live in Wisconsin and I was wondering if I could get a job when I graduate College in Wisconsin and still be able to live by/with my family please get back to me I would really like to know thank you so much🙂

I don't think there's really any oil and gas activity in Wisconsin. You'd definitely have to travel. Best case scenario- you get a job that is like 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off and you can travel back home on your off days.

It is stupid to reduce oil production as so many have to be made out of petroleum.
