I really love how the cars here somehow show “emotion”, like with the part is shows the 4 star heat screen 1:10 when the Nissan turns to the cops cars and they turn and “look at you” in a dark area, just showing that those cars are going to deal with you more seriously and put fear in facing them. *sigh* If only they allowed criterion to cook…if only…
Looks like they toned it down a lot for the retail version. Most likely for the public and I think they were right. A lot of people just hate the graphic pop ups for some reason. I think it’s one of the best visual things about the game. Something fresh and new that isn’t objectively bad
if criterion goes all out with the scrapbook grafitti/heat's neon artstyle in the retail version it'd go crazy, it's like prostreet/ssx on tour's aesthetics on crack also love the use of eurostile font here
It's very unlikely that UNITE will be able to do this because this concept is most likely no longer compatible with the current version of the game. And such major changes will certainly impact the core gameplay, which is impossible without major changes to the core game.
@@cxlciummmiv All custom body kits were planned as content for Heat, but since Ghost Games was closed... they used the content for Unbound. The map Lakeshore City is also largely a copy from Palm City.

That XP screen screams GRID 2 lmfao, but this is awesome. Much more stylish than the final product. Wish more racing games do something like this, instead of the clean, bland and boring style UI that we have since 5000 B.C.
Man, this gave Unbound so much more personality and Character instead of what we actually got. If we got this I don’t know if as many people would’ve complained the cartoon effects. The game would’ve felt more intense as well, and I noticed hidden customization options on some of the cars.
Sad that not only EA killed off their creativity through limitation and failure to unleash the true potential, but the community rejected this idea altogether due to the aesthetics. Criterion is just a sad case of when devs don't get a chance to cook, TWICE.
I liked this look more than the ending, there are certain things that EA cuts from NFS just like it was with Carbon, Undercover and 2015 that I think are unnecessary
If anybody makes a mod with this kind of look, I would love to be a character in the mod, specifically one who would still help you, but would also scold you if you pushed your luck and importantly laughed in your face when you failed horribly specifically a character who's not entirely helpful but also kind of a toxic friend
Everything looks great here except for the character customization. If they kept it as an anonymous player with this type of intense art style it would’ve added to the immersion.
this looks like straight fire, shame they didn't use these visuals. I think this just goes to show just how incredible Unbound could have been (visually, at least) had they not been forced to work on Battlefield 2042, or given more time
I am so glad the final game didn’t turn out like this. I was actually worried that the game would look like this when it was announced that there would be ‘anime’ effects. The animations and colours are way too much, almost burns my retinas 😭 Thank god EA for once made the right decision.
Okay, so it has some bits from Burnout Paradise (this racer has race for X many times), and the rest is kinda, similiar, but looks better, to me at least. It looks so flashy, almost like FH4's studio, combined with NFS Hot Pursuit lettering And they were only planning to gave us penalty fee on busted? Not a whole cash taken? That was a rip off
Explains the extra long intro beginning every race. After a while it's really boring to sit through and look at. A good portion of these ideas exist in the game with minimal execution

@@Brawltendo not sure about pre nfs 2015 games but 2015, payback, heat, unbound are all made in the frostbite engine, the same engine that battlefield was made in. the things that frostbite does good, it does well, but driving fast is not one of them. the most common example of this is dragon age inquisition and sprinting on horses; the horse isnt going any faster, the game just shows you speed lines to trick you. the same thing happens when you reach speeds around 250-300 in each of the newer nfs games is that frostbite is not made to render anything at that speed! so the game has to actively slow you down to stop it from shitting itself which is why there's fringe complaints about sense of speed
@ the speed limiter in newer NFS games is likely for balance reasons rather than world streaming. NFS ProStreet does the same thing and that predates Frostbite (the speed limiter code in the newer games even dates all the way back to ProStreet). You can easily mod that soft limit out and the world streamer keeps up just fine unless you’re going unreasonable speeds that you’d never actually reach under normal circumstances.

i cant fathom how ANYONE. with eyes, a brain, functioning anything. could say no. we're gonna work on something that is barely possible today. and it will just have to be ANOTHER, half-baked nfs title. it pisses me off to no end that people with a passion wanted to do right by its community and instead of letting it cook they hire a new chef to finish the dish quickly. It taste fine, but it could be sooo much better. im angry. and it sucks that i need 12+ mods to get the experience i wanted from this game.
well say hello to the blackbox era nfs titles aswell. ea always crunched their developers and all of the cut content from these games just proves that point even further. undercover and mw2012 had it the worst when it comes to cut content.
It's not just EA who cucked Criterion twice now, but also the fact that the community was collectively having L-takes on the overall aesthetic of Unbound. Never forget that the community vehemently pushed for this aesthetic to be removed.
Looks not very organic and kinda generic, also too long and too overloaded, i bet it will be annoying after few play sessions, released version way better, imho

I called this alfa demo generic because of design choices, like character in front of big display, fonts, icons, camera angles, smoothness, transitions and etc. It's like Finals meet Heat + Forza Horizon and it's not even a game, just bunch of cutscenes. It's early concept so it's okay to be generic and not polished. There is not that much individuality and style here, looks more like too much trying to be stylish and losing it because of that. Idk how to describe it, it feels cheap and generic.

ea limited every single developer that they've had with crunch times and rushed releases.
Most Wanted 2 prototype could saved the franchise if was not scrapped, damn.
EA had nothing to do with it in this case, probably Criterion itself decided to tone it down
