@@Frothy_Board25 even without actual Most Wanted 2 NFS Most Wanted 2012 was going for it but EA had to massacre it because of deadline?! what you were doing my man??
That's mostly EA's saying than Criterion's. They wanted them to play as safely as possible. Dude, if Unbound was already *HEAVILY CRITICIZED* from their artstyle choices (which i actually find cool) _even on the "toned down" version, _*_imagine the possible backlash they could have gotten, basically a EA investor's worst nightmare_* , it was basically EA forcing them to play safe.
It's like Unbound but with a tad bit of Heat's aesthetics (the neons, lighting etc). Looks cool, they should have kept some of these scenes in the final version.
Some people hated Criterion for releasing MW 2012, until we found out that they actually wanted to release MW 2. And the story repeated, Criterion are goated developers in my eyes, and they know EXACTLY how to make good games, EA just didn't let them.
why does the aesthetic and feel of this seem so much better then the final product. Really like how the UI and the use of your character and the opponents is alot more visible and personalised in this rather then just seeing them randomly at the start of the race. And the cutscenes sorta remind me of the old carbon intros for whenever you got new crew members. Really wish EA would just sign off a blank check for need for speed and give them a guaranteed 3-4 years to actually cook. The last 12 years of NFS have all been the same story of two steps forward but 3 steps back because the devs get pressured for time and money and have to end up cutting alot of corners on the games when they manage to make such a good base but they're never given enough time to actually flesh it out. Atleast Kaizen and unbound's post release update cycle seems to have broken the trend of: release new NFS and immediately start work on next. So maybe we'll see a more fleshed out and refined Need for speed in 2025/26? But then again that's what I've been dreaming to happen for a decade now.
What the hell were they doing?! This honestly brings the game more to life with the art style in the animation stuff. This is honestly amazing and they should have kept this because with what we have, it looks so bland and boring. I miss livelihood of starting a race and seeing a bunch of things on screen
nah bruh, they clearly needed more time and money from ea to finish this project. Unbound noticeably was under polished on launch and still now. Minor bugs and texture glitches are there because of a rushed project.
I can get why most of this didn't make the final cut. A lot of those designs and concepts feel completely out of place when put next to each other. Some scenes feel like they're for a different game, some just don't really click with the rest of it... Not gonna mourn those ngl
(apparent) hot take, I prefer the final version. Here they didn't go all the way with the cartoony effects, and yes, I like them. Fuck, I'd rather had them go with a semi cel shaded look for the cars too
I dunno if the higher ups are always making the decisions for all these, but EA in general makes some questionable decisions. If they didn't pull the plug for Heat it would've been a different and better game than Unbound in general
Good thing they changed the final game this looks horrible, UI elements all over the place, open your eyes people. This is a mess. What we have now is wayy more functional and better.
@@DaviLucasXDCan we stop with the whole "just skip the scene" excuse? Just because you can skip a scene doesn't change that people can dislike it, I hate this UI and those sequences are WAY too flashy and as if it was for a MV not for a game
