Another thing I found was that cops seem to spawn much more frequently along your route if it is mapped; just like in Heat. Often times, it seems better to just drive where you need to go without setting a route.
My addition to this would be to set a route, and take an alternative route. The cops will spawn along the route you have set, the GPS will alter the route and you can kind of predict where they will spawn.
Bro I was going insane over this today when I played unbound. I started to figure it out after 3-4 hours of playing that cops will spawn on the marked road
DRIFT TIP: Regular nitrous helps extend the drift by a LONG way, but Burst Nitrous also increases traction and makes you grip up and crash into the inside of the corner. For drift events and takeovers, make sure to dump your burst nitrous just BEFORE a corner, enter a gear high, and lay into the regular nitro as you slide. You can pull off massively long drifts like this and EZ all the events even on hardest difficulty.
@@stevorules1820 it's the three bars that fill up yellow. You simply tap A when one of those bars is maxed out. Intensity increases with each bar. If you hit it mid drift you get instant grip and shoot straight forward from where your car is pointing. So beware, this can fuck you up mid-corner.
I use nitro to cancel my drift at the perfect time and direction to send me flying in front of the other racers drifting with me. It's quicker to go back into accelerating than just stopping the drift then using nitro
Another tip: some cars are acceleration beasts, but have low top speed, like Lotuses, so they slay on technical tracks, but are sometimes impossible to win a highway race with, even when maxed out for a particular class. There’s no rubber banding that I noticed, so if your top speed isn’t high enough, you’ll lose. That’s why your tip about trying to upgrade one car is not always good. Aaand it's important to note that if a helicopter is the only one chasing you, you don't need to get out of their visibility circle before hiding in the forest or a tunnel. You can go into hiding while it's right above you and turn your car off and they will lose sight of you and enter the "escaping" phase. I think I had a small handful of times where that didn't work but has pretty much consistently worked.
Tip for the boost tank: you can change the sound that the yellow bar makes when you fill up a meter, so you have an audio cue to listen for instead of having to look
@SeanWithaFada late af but for those who recently got their hands on unbound (thanks steam for massive discounts for black week); samples are used for gear changing sfx, not the boost tank. The boost tank has no sound AFAIK and the only way to see whether you can use it beside taking your eyes off of the road is by catching in the corner of your eye a yellow cartoonish particle by the side of it for 1 bar or if the gauges have a distinctive yellow tint for that 3 bar boost

Even though I hate its visual gimmicks, Unbound is the first modern NFS to win me over. Having arcade physics that don't feel like floaty garbage and an actual sense of progress is something I've been desperately hoping for for over 10 years at this point. I see people here are determined to hate it just because of the reputation of the previous 5 games and that's pretty sad, because this is definitely a step in the right direction.
I didn't like the effects but they grew on me as I played and I think they will for you too. I agree with you completely regarding the rest of the comment.
I like how the characters look and the visual effects the cars have. I'm having the same amount of fun I had while playing NFS Heat so that's a plus for me
I don't care about the effects at all, I care that they seperated multiplayer, made it 16 players max in a server, limited crews to 4 cars and don't even have police at launch. I love many things about this game, but those to me seem incredible that they aren't in the game.
So one thing of note; when you fail to have the money for the qualifier, you do not "reset" to friday; you are returned to Friday. If you had 100k starting the friday, lose all of it, "restart from friday" and all of that money will still be gone. This could be a good thing too if you need to save up but just a warning.
For anyone just stsrting out, the tip at 8:13 is the one you wanna pay extra attention too. I been playing Heat last month or so and on its hardest difficulty it is much easier than the story difficulty on Unbound at the very beginning anyway. Until you get a couple upgrades but I still find myself not tak8ng 1st place on occasion.
I absolutely love the cartoon look as I'm an avid lover of borderlands. I know the artwork is different but I love the cartoon look in general. BL looks hard edged while this is soft edged in its artwork
I might be wrong but if you just used up your gas station repair, escaping the cops will automatically remove your cooldown. So you get a free car repair as a reward for escaping them. (It might depend on the heat level. Because it definitely works for heat level 5.)
A small thing I can add is that with betting, especially on higher difficulties, pay attention to the race type and the strengths of the AI racers. Easy bets on a corner king race can lose you money on speed races.
1000x this. For example, on S and S+ the game says Medusa and ASAP are the top dogs. I've never seen them win, it's always Chase's grip Porche and Shimizu's La Ferrari respectively. This can lead to some nice bonus money as the car worth the most in side bets is usually like 3 or 4th.
@@bennyb.1742 Yep found this too, I always bet against the best of them, in my games Shimizu is easily the most competitive, once he gets ahead it's an effort without the right car to catch him on the highest difficulty level.
@@zeebaka Agree. I can hang with everyone in that tier besides Medusa and Lyric consistently with my Pontiac Firebird 77 (I started from B and built it into a S tier car). Medusa and Chase are wildcards, but Lyric is damn near ALWAYS in 1st place. The only time I beat him out is usually in Circuit and Corner King races. If it’s Speed or Sprint, he will hold onto that lead for a long time, because the Interceptors always harass whoever’s in 2-4 perfectly. Lol However, the moment I got into S+ tier races with my 2017 Corvette (forgot model name) Lyric ain’t a problem anymore. It’s fucking Shimizu instead, unless the races are Sprint/Endurance/Speed on mostly straight line tracks. A+ were the easiest for me, and my only real competition was Harlow. Cha-Cha was hit or miss (miss most of the time). A was meh and B was extremely hard. This is coming from someone who haven’t played NFS since the 2015 edition.
the crash physics in this game are kinda funky sometimes, they remind me of the og underground physics so i dont hate them, they take me back to the good ol days specially now that we have the eclipse back
I'm also finding that just full sending through the map terrain like Forza can help with the cops to an extent. As long as you don't hit any dead ends.
Very useful video, I didn't know I needed to know these things until now. I've been playing nfs unbound for a while and if I knew theses things it would've made my life easier. (making money to buy cars and upgrades)
6:30 you can use the spot under the bridge by boosts safehouse to escape. Make sure to go on the side near the water and turn your engine off by holding B on xbox (and presumably O on ps)
A little niche tip when trying to escape at high heat. Taking jumps off mountains where you know you won't wreck is more times than not a sure fire way to get away. Since you can somewhat influence the way your car can turn in mid air, you can avoid the unbreakables
The cops don't have as much problems with jumps but there's a limitation on the game engine so they don't full send off jumps like you do. It's not a guaranteed cool down but often can help. There's an area in the city where you can jump down a level and turn around facing a meetup and 9/10 jumping down will get you into cool down for a quick way to lose the cops
Another tip for handling in multiplayer beware that changing it can make your car a higher tier or lower so keep a eye on it as changing. If you don’t notice your car won’t be available to select on some races you build the car for.
One thing that I've found out about the pursuits is that hopping onto the L train tracks makes it easy to lose cops.... But helicopters will notice you even if you have your vehicle off
I'll be honest the free roam cops much like heat completely turned me off these games. I get it people want their pursuits but it's just an inconvenient mechanic when you're trying to get to some event all you're doing is getting fixated on the minimap because the smallest pursuit is gonna waste 5-10 mins at least.
Awesome tips! A tom of usefull stuff here, great for new and experienced players alike. Gotta say, I'm enjoying Unbound a lot more than I expected, really looking forward to your review of the game!
For real this is the dumbest thing, I go into it in my review of the game (not yet out.) How have we gone multiple games now without being able to rebind controls
@@brawler5760 Don't even get me started on using a wheel on Crew 2. With the T300, in order to e-brake or use nitrous, you need to hold down a specific face button, as well as either the down or up shift paddle at the same time (one paddle was e-brake while the other was nitrous).
Too Be honest I like the game But it’s kind of difficult trying to get money to save then upgrade then buy cars at the same time. Makes me wanna use a different strat and start all over
about hiding spots, the most common one i used for instance is the foot of the bridge next to boost's safehouse, another good one is a somewhat of an entrance to a "parking lot" in the city's tunnelroad
I would've loved to know that past heat lvl 3, this game became Metal Gear Solid. And that the cops were near impossible to shake on a normal way, so apart from having to resort to lame stuff where you have to travel half the map for, after which you have to Metal Gear Solid yourself over the map again.
Once you finish a race and you don’t want to use that car…just start up another event..go to “my rides” select the car you want and back all the way out of the event/race….now you got the car you want
What I noticed is that a lot of people quit online races before the 3rd race in the series if they are losing, which is dumb because if you finish the series no matter your place you’ll get paid
ANOTHER TIP: While you are in a Race, always look for Gasstations! When you drive through, your Nitro Tank will be filled instantly. It‘s very helpfull for an extra boost
I know this may sound contradictory to the video but i found that having chasing constantly especially in the 5th heat level makes me alot of money and has helped me become a better driver at the game.
Maybe im just ignorant but the main thing I would tell any new player is.. When you start your first week you do not need to have 4 cars before the big race at the end of the week. Im not sure why but they make it seem this way. You will just have 4 different classes of races at the end of all four weeks. Still you can just level up one car if you really wanted to for each week. Obviously there are different types of races so that wouldnt be ideal but still I literally restarted the game once because I thought I needed four cars at the end of week one. lol
Turning off the engine while in cooldown makes escaping pursuits slightly faster. Do it in a safe place though, don't want a cop next to you while having to turn the engine back on in a slow car
If you are patient and plan on 100% anyway, right from the beginning of week one you can go around and do all the collectibles. This will get you some money to start with and a few extra cars.
If somebody have money problem, just go in offline mode, you can collect enough money for 4 cars. If you have the four choosed car, you can go in online mode again, then finish the story :)
I absolutely adore the story setup to this game. Setting up for the qualifier each week was awesome but I find that the online is complete lacklustre. Unlike heat there is little to do online, in heat there was the day races for money and the night races for exp and late game high heat races give ultimate parts. There is only Simple races and head to head events in online, which is a big step down from all of the variety in heat. Also I know it’s not the best in heat and I didn’t really like them that much but where is off-road races? There is off-road suspension and stuff but no races.
well pretty much all the drift events/takeovers are offroad so 🤷♂. I'd way rather have actual drifting and actual offroad, or at least some indication of which surface you'll be running on. Definitely got hosed for $65k on a pinkslips race that I didn't know would be 80% dirt, brought my grip car and spent the whole race just spinning tires in the mud at 50km/h
Is there a reason why the Multiplayer and Story is separate in this NFS? I mean, not having your cars/character appearance/bank/garage upgrades carry over.
Jumping up onto the elevated train tracks is a good way to shake off pursuing cops because they have a hard time getting up there, and going underneath the tracks and following them will nearly always cause the helicopter to lose sight of you. The 1976 Volkswagen Golf GTI is a surprisingly good A-tier vehicle and is one of the lowest-priced vehicles in its class at $30K. I'm getting very close to the end of the game and still use it regularly. Don't know if it's in the regular edition, but it's available in the Palace edition.
if you do not have any money earned in a session and you want to change things about your car for whatever reason you can go back in the safe house without ending that session. besides that if you can not be bothered anymore by doing the races because you already got the money or got tired by how repetative the race routes are just do either the delivery or the tess/yaz high heat events.you can at least get either a car or money or sometimes both when doing these and then be done with it. or find a billboard/bear to smash. as long as you got some money during a session you can progress further. especially later on during week 3/4 where at least i had plenty of money for both weeks and already got the cars maxed as best as i could doing all those races for no new race map was verry tiresome.
my personal favorite that nobody seems to know about is hitting gas stations mid race, pursuit, etc., even if you are still on cooldown you will get the notification. but it fully tops off your nitrous. secondly when you shut your car off the police detection radius gets smaller, while the helicopters do not appear to get smaller its because when the car is off they do not spot the car at all.
You can farm money on Fridays. Just make enough so that you don’t meet the buy in requirement and you can eventually max out your car and even your garage. So before the big meet, you’ll have a maxxed out car and have some leftover cash.
Pursuit tip: If the cops are beating you up and you might not make it to a gas station, go to options, and leave the game. It'll get the cops off you, save your progress and spawn you right near a gas station
I think your crazy 😂 the cops in heat are NOTHING compared to this game. It feels like I'm playing GTA 5 on heat level 5. It really feels like they went out of they to make these cops harder to escape being that the helicopter respawn every minute
1. Always bet the rival with highest return on races where you must finish 1st 2. Races that end with roadblocks around but no police chase and be run through without risk of starting a police chase
I noticed that if you can buy clothes the first time you play the game. This is the 150.000 cash bonus for multiplayer that you are using for some weird reason. So those who thinks they aren't using any money ,and just buying all the close might be disapointed when they first join online, expecting it to be 150.000 bonus there.
If you want to keep your speed in a drift, or just make it longer, enter a drift and than use your normal nitrous. It will speed you up and make the drift longer, plus it looks cool
There's definitely no hope for NFS now or in the future. Undercover was the only one that used the heroic engine and finally released a manual lovers race game. Too many still relied on automatic, never purchased the free dlc or boss cars and got to use the CCX or Gmac Lambo. Driving at a continuous 250mph to 264mph in the CCX was such an adrenaline rush. They've catered to the whiners and made all the new ones just like burnout with automatic transmission. UG2 and Undercover will always be the best ever released
1:07 I have to say, the barracuda is drift stock, and does INSANELY well with 20% grip, road suspension, road tires. Very fast, and incredibly controlled slides And I have found a spot to MASSIVELY exploit police. Heat 5 is literally AFK mode
As of writing this, no one has figured out how to get the hidden customization, like Waru's shakotan bodykit, or the blower on the camaro, despite showing up in the community liveries.

@@bennyb.1742 Medusa can get you if youre not careful. It's usually her Lyric, and sometimes Chase. Sidenote: fuck Lyric that car does not belong in S
Lol
However, the moment I got into S+ tier races with my 2017 Corvette (forgot model name) Lyric ain’t a problem anymore.
There's an area in the city where you can jump down a level and turn around facing a meetup and 9/10 jumping down will get you into cool down for a quick way to lose the cops
yeah ibuse that all the time. the cops are too mich imo. cant go anywhere on high heat its annoying.
But helicopters will notice you even if you have your vehicle off
Then just jump off and drive underneath them, you get the best of both!
Great video full of very useful info (I'm new to NFS Unbound). Thank you for not wasting your viewers' time.
Most important thing: You can't rebind your controller layout
Wut?
For real this is the dumbest thing, I go into it in my review of the game (not yet out.) How have we gone multiple games now without being able to rebind controls
Throttle and brake on triggers (expected) but shifting controls on bumpers. Combine them and you have an awkward grip that is painful after a while.
@@HashiriyaR32 That’s what I hate about The Crew 2. The first game though, HOOOHHH BOY DO I FUCKING HATE ITS SHIFTING METHOD EVEN MORE
@@brawler5760 Don't even get me started on using a wheel on Crew 2. With the T300, in order to e-brake or use nitrous, you need to hold down a specific face button, as well as either the down or up shift paddle at the same time (one paddle was e-brake while the other was nitrous).
If you use a jump that goes over water, they will follow you. So if you fall in they will follow. One of the easiest ways to lose cops at 5 star heat
If you hit a cop car, and disable it, your car will take no damage. :)
Too Be honest I like the game But it’s kind of difficult trying to get money to save then upgrade then buy cars at the same time. Makes me wanna use a different strat and start all over
If you’re in a chase and you’re abt to lose you can cheese it by leaving game and rejoining. This resets back to a servo
Mazda mx5 carried me through all the first 3 stages of this campaign.. grip tune it and max it out for each stage. You will win 99% races with ease
about hiding spots, the most common one i used for instance is the foot of the bridge next to boost's safehouse, another good one is a somewhat of an entrance to a "parking lot" in the city's tunnelroad
Great tips, I have been watching a lot of unbound videos recently and still learned so much more from this one!
I'm freaking loving this game!
What I noticed is that a lot of people quit online races before the 3rd race in the series if they are losing, which is dumb because if you finish the series no matter your place you’ll get paid
ANOTHER TIP:
While you are in a Race, always look for Gasstations! When you drive through, your Nitro Tank will be filled instantly. It‘s very helpfull for an extra boost
I know this may sound contradictory to the video but i found that having chasing constantly especially in the 5th heat level makes me alot of money and has helped me become a better driver at the game.
This game is absolutely sick.
Good or bad?
I’m really digging this game like ALOT!
Obviously there are different types of races so that wouldnt be ideal but still I literally restarted the game once because I thought I needed four cars at the end of week one. lol
This! Good advice. I had the same problem and I wasted money on buying an additional car the first week. :( it wasn't clear enough.
Also quick tip get a truck or suv set it up for off-road and equipped with damage increase for police pursuits trust me it works wonders
Lmao “you’ll know when the prologue ends” yea I learned that the hard way🖕🏾
I absolutely adore the story setup to this game.
I imagine a lot of this stuff will come in the first update. hopefully
well pretty much all the drift events/takeovers are offroad so 🤷♂.
This was the most utmost commentary I’ve witnessed on #NFSUnbound Game👌🏽🔥
Tip: Races will be held during rush hour. Way to many npc cars in the game it's redicilous
if you do not have any money earned in a session and you want to change things about your car for whatever reason you can go back in the safe house without ending that session. besides that if you can not be bothered anymore by doing the races because you already got the money or got tired by how repetative the race routes are just do either the delivery or the tess/yaz high heat events.you can at least get either a car or money or sometimes both when doing these and then be done with it. or find a billboard/bear to smash. as long as you got some money during a session you can progress further.
especially later on during week 3/4 where at least i had plenty of money for both weeks and already got the cars maxed as best as i could doing all those races for no new race map was verry tiresome.
my personal favorite that nobody seems to know about is hitting gas stations mid race, pursuit, etc., even if you are still on cooldown you will get the notification. but it fully tops off your nitrous.
secondly when you shut your car off the police detection radius gets smaller, while the helicopters do not appear to get smaller its because when the car is off they do not spot the car at all.
Thank you for actual tips that aren't 100% cheese!
Ayy unbound video!!
You can farm money on Fridays. Just make enough so that you don’t meet the buy in requirement and you can eventually max out your car and even your garage. So before the big meet, you’ll have a maxxed out car and have some leftover cash.
Damn bro .. this is a solid video , Thanks man
Pursuit tip: If the cops are beating you up and you might not make it to a gas station, go to options, and leave the game.
I’d argue that Heat cops were harder to get rid of but Unbound cops just reignite the chase so quickly.
the games called need for speed HEAT for a reason lol 😂😂 bruh how dumb are you 😂😂😂
“You cannot fully disable the driving effects” This was a such bold faced lie by the developer. They flat out said you could in a tweet.
1. Always bet the rival with highest return on races where you must finish 1st
2. Races that end with roadblocks around but no police chase and be run through without risk of starting a police chase
You can get the full burst nitrous and almost full normal nitrous from doing a j-turn instead of a burnout
I learned in high heat chases to STAY OFF THE HIGHWAYS!! And aim for city areas where its easier to hide.
The highways are where I go to lose them because they can't keep up.
@@mstanley211 I meant when it's high heat 4 and 5
@@mstanley211 only if you’re in an s+ car and maybe some s cars. Anything below, the vettes and the f150 will keep up no matter what
@@MM-su4gu I’ve honestly been doing it with just an A+ car
I love how Critterion , gave us a ''need for burnout'' game finaly !1
Cause EA just .. couldnt !!!
I just wish that the tags were also car specific, I hate having a yellow car with a red tag that shit suck fr
Idk why I dont like Heat but Unbound brought me back the memories of MW2005
Im subbing because you helped me progress so much more in this game😭😭
I wish the wagering system was a bit more developed. You could really cash out, or lose huge if they let you wager against multiple racers
One tip I would add would be to use Cheat Engine to add a few hundred million
just noticed you didn't even hit 1k subs yet and man I'm baffled. That was so well edited keep it up. Some good quality content!
Geez that cop car hit spikes on all wheels and still keeping up with you is wild
I didn't know there was a main nitrous, I thought boost was the only thing 😵💫
Thank you for these tips, I’ve completed the whole story and only just found out that you can turn off drift entry !
If you go past the meetup at the city, if you are going from Rydell’s, theirs an opening that I’ve use many times to get away from the cops
If you want to keep your speed in a drift, or just make it longer, enter a drift and than use your normal nitrous. It will speed you up and make the drift longer, plus it looks cool
Very handful tips Kapraku.
Idk but I’m having a hard time trying to win races I feel like the ai is just too good
2:34 you have enlightened me😂
There's definitely no hope for NFS now or in the future.
Ayyy Unbound video!!
1:07 I have to say, the barracuda is drift stock, and does INSANELY well with 20% grip, road suspension, road tires. Very fast, and incredibly controlled slides
And I have found a spot to MASSIVELY exploit police. Heat 5 is literally AFK mode
As of writing this, no one has figured out how to get the hidden customization, like Waru's shakotan bodykit, or the blower on the camaro, despite showing up in the community liveries.
HOKI!
We share our car :D
also thanks for the tips!
Just got the game!!!I had the heat from late 2021 for PS5.
These tips are awesome, thank you!!
7:30 dog the way hoki's pic is edited on the side lol
It's time for you to show the people how to drift on this game again
I've already been doing tons of testing with drifting in Unbound!
I don't know why, but the Lotuses for me are abysmal on Grip because they sometimes randomly get the urge to spin out while braking, no matter if the braking is hard or not...
Good Tipps. I only started the game and i feel unsere how to handle money. Safe it or spend it for more parts.
Only thing i wish i knew was how much of a dumpster fire this game was before i wasted money on it.
pretty sure you can use burst nitrous in the air for longer jumps. at least it feels like it :P
Best vid outt there!
There’s also a light sensitive mode but it doesn’t suppress the boost flash on the two clusters. This is headache inducing at nighttime.
Great tips!!
