@@Ogma3bandcampah thank you, I always wondered what the proper name was. Learning something new every day!
Come on all you sponsors out there. Get this guy a two post lift so he doesn’t have to crawl around on the ground. One of the best down to earth (pardon the pun) rebuild channels, doing normal builds we can all afford !
Thank you! The puns are very welcome here 😂
@@ElseasWorldYou’re very welcome from an English guy living in the US ! Looking for those rebuilds I could do ! Keep up the great work 👍
I’ve grown up watching all the WD stuff and your channel is refreshing from the uber more extravagant builds on other channels. Yes I think they’re great, but the grass roots need this, we can’t all afford McLarens et al !
@@jusc3223WD is legendary, they inspired me quite a bit! I’d love to rebuild some super cars but I love these old Toyotas and Nissans just as much, so much fun
AND HOT WATER
As the car started I was like “Wow, it starts”. My wife looked at me and asked “what started honey?”. Then I realised I was so hyped I hadn’t whispered 😂😂😂
haha that’s awesome, I’m just glad I didn’t rip all the wiring out over one battery cable 🤣
What's not to love of this channel? You guys energy is contagious, I wish this channel could grow past a million subscribers. Keep up the good work!
Thank you! A million subs would be epic!!!
100% agree
@@wolfgangw.8243you are all awesome thank you for watching! ❤❤❤
be a tavarish subscribers good to discover a talented and skilled men like you
you and jack is a hope in this jungle of UA-cam to see a verry bad car transform to good one with limited resources
good job and continue
salutation from tunisia
Thank you so much! Tavarish has taken care of me forsure, very thankful to have him as a friend!
@@ElseasWorld Your channel is much more fun to watch for me than Tavarish tbh!
As usual, great episode!
Great editing, great humor and you’re putting in work the whole time I love this channel.
That means a lot, thank you!
this just reminded me when i swapped my blown engine, i spent 2 days wondering what i missed out before remember to put clutch down while cranking, i was trying to crank it from the passenger side cause it was tucked in the corner of garage lol, great job man
Glad I’m not the only one who forgets the simple things 😅😂
Good job, man! Love seeing your progress on a car that seemed so far gone! Can't wait to see how you solve the pedals and the wiring.
it's clear you put in so much effort on these builds. Fantastic to watch and I wish you all the success
Thank you! Lost my voice at the end of this one 😂😅
right blend of talk, humor, humility + informative hacks. my new favorite YT auto channel. thank you Mr. Elsea. please keep it going. 👍
Tankless water heater and invest in dry ice machine since you are ocd about cleaning.
I do need those bad, slowly getting upgraded in the shop 😄
Wouldn’t be complaining over a 500 car. Got a killer deal
Yeah, I wish I could find a nice 'running' project car like this.
I recently ended up having to buy a diesel Vauxhall Vectra as my Toyota had died.
I didn’t want it, but it was £200.
Turned out that it is the 150bhp version.
I am now glad I bought it.
The exhaust has fallen off, I was having to disconnect the battery every night due to power drain and it was very hard to select gears.
Got all of that sorted and have welded up the holes in the rear arches.
Some more tidying up and a bit of suspension work and it’s going to be a good example.
I always buy stupidly cheap cars and try to make them last as long as possible.
My old Toyota Avensis with the 1cd-ftv cost me £700 quid in 2016, I bodged it through to October 2024.
Thanks for showing the “struggle”, not just the “tada” it’s out.
It’s a constant struggle but we always find a way 😅
Video editing is getting better! Quality of car and content on the rise! Mooooove over Hoovie, we have a new lemon lifter!
Great job Elsea. Someone get this guy a lift!
There is a lot of value in this video. I cannot tell you how many posts I read daily in the 350z forms about what is involved in a manual conversion of an automatic car.
Thank you! It’s weird how little information is out there about doing the manual conversion on these but hopefully this helps some other people out who are doing it 😁
It would be cool if the whistler had a quick disconnect and you could then quick connect the leak down tester with the same hose.
That’s actually a really good idea, it would save a lot of time especially on v8’s!
You can get a media blaster attachment for a standard hosepipe btw. Really handy for cleaning engines and stuff :P
I just got one, can’t wait to put it to work! Just slightly worried about getting media getting into places it’s not supposed to 🤣
@@ElseasWorld yeah that might be an issue down the spark plug holes lol. Can probably get some sort of soft media that won't pit/metal or clam up just rough enough for the grime.
Mike, always always you remove a trans please consider replacing the crankshaft seal is something really cheap and as you notice a pain to be there
I bought two of these a year ago for $1200. Neither in as good a condition as these and none have a working motor or trans 🤣 You got a steal of a deal tbh
I think the reason why many of these cars are so neglected is because they are so difficult to work on. I remember watching Mighty Car Mods working on one and the theme was "it's tight".
It does make servicing more difficult forsure!
When you start it, it revs itself up aggressively for 1/2 second. Which people always thought I was doing! I think it won’t start without having your clutch down ( from memory ) - that was 10 years ago !
I got pulled in it constantly.
When the exhaust was going, I’d gun it past the M6 toll booth ( it sounded like an F1 car ).
It ruined my back - gave me sciatica ! The car is sex !
The build is really coming along!! I'm stoked you manual swapped it! To clean cast aluminum housings and blocks, I soda blast them. It cleans the aluminum and leaves a fine finish.
270whp is REALLY optimistic. Maybe 240 for a DE. 255ish for a rev up, 260ish for an HR.
They made at the crank: DE 287hp, rev up 300hp, HR 306hp
Really loving this honest no nonsense channel. Well done Michael.
🙏
Awesome video!!! Its amazing the level of cleaning you're doing to that thing. And i can't believe you actually got the smell out!
You’ll see (smell) for yourself soon hahaha
That motor coming out was the theatrical release of the year
Haha we have a lot of fun doing the work and editing! ❤️
I have been swearing at the exhaust, or what’s left of it, of a 2004 Hyundai Terracan this week. Not only do I not have a lift, I have been doing it outside, in freezing temperatures, on/in mud, in the swamp known as the Fens, UK.
I now have a collection of M10 nuts welded to the rusted stubs of the cat studs…
With sockets that get stuck I just take it the opposite direction I was pounding by one ug, two ugs might make you have to go one dug the other way👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻that’s the one tip I have from working on rust in Indiana
I just love seeing Stephen Merchant work on cars
dude, love your channel. I legit get excited for new updates.
Appreciate the support! 🙏
i really love the way you upload. you put as much activity into one video as you can as where other youtubers post multiple videos where there only 15 minutes and they only install one thing.
I appreciate that, I try my best to explain what I’m doing while keeping the show on the road. I really just want to drive this thing so I work quick 😛
Enjoying your channel. Hope it goes from strength to strength for you. Keep up the great content!
Thanks so much! 🙏
300 cigarette butts 🤢🤮🤮 JFC You’re a better man than I am for having the talent and the tenacity to attempt something like this car. 🙌🏻👏🏻👍🏻🥰 Good Luck, you’re going to need it 🥴 😂
I was so happy to hear that engine running at the end great video we waiting for the next one
At first (wasn't paying attention) I thought you were reusing head gaskets lol. Intake is no big deal - no pressure and relatively light vacuum, so reuse should be fine. $200 for gaskets is crazy though.
3:35 "Weenie Whistle!" Only in America?! LMAO!! Looks a little sus!
Hahaha very sus!
I had a GT version - I changed the exhaust to a larger bore stainless proper twin pipes all the way down. It cost the same as a Nissan pipe (which I originally installed to replace a blowing Nissan exhaust - which only lasted 4 years !!! FFS ! ). It did 165mph no problem. I got banned from driving - in the UK ( the police said they couldn’t catch me ). Get the subwoofer behind the driver’s seat and the Bose system. It never distorted in full volume. It liked to drink ‘Super’ grade fuel. Nissan forgot to tighten the bolts after a clutch change! Which failed on me at low speed thankfully (silly Nissan !! FFS )! A tyre place took my orange Brembos off using a sledge hammer ! FFS ! I made them fix them as they were perfect before- look up ‘gnashing beast’ on Flickr. I used to strap a surf board to the roof and go surfing ! I loved that car. It was so reliable ( unless you let Nissan do any work on it ). Caught in a traffic jam - turn the wheel- turn off traction control, high throttle and drop the clutch. You are suddenly going the other way. It had a better ride height than my 1999 New Beetle which constantly ground out. Terrifying in snow on a hill coming down ! She was beautiful ! Manual RHD. Orange, Orange seats. I think the first owner remapped it and altered the tow ( I wonder why ) - I miss that car - you can get them for £2k ! Loads of fun. When I lived in London they were rarer than Ferraris and people loved it because you never saw one.
i’m in love with this series man keep it up!
Great work as always Michael! I was cheering for you when the car fired up! It's slowly turning into a really nice car and I can't wait to see it fully together! Keep up the great work you do mate!
I appreciate that, I was 5 minutes away from throwing in the towel on getting it to run thankfully my brain kicked back on and I realized everything wasn’t hooked up 😂
Very good! I like those cars a lot so it's very enjoyable to see this one getting the royal treatment.
Awesome job Michael. Really interesting content testing the pistons and the manual gearbox.
You really made it look easy 🙂
Looks like you need to dry ice that engine cos thats what you do right.
Great watching your channel grow buddy. Keep up the awesome job.
Thanks so much! I wish I had a dry ice place close by, would have made quick work of this gunk!
Great work brother. Very satisfying just to watch it run. Must have been very satisfying to be there after all that work. Have a great holiday weekend.
Thank you! It was indeed, glad you got to enjoy it with us! I was shocked (pun intended) that I only had to hook up one wire to bypass on the automatic electronics for it to run. Cars can be so frustrating the reward always outweighs it ❤️
Great video, Michael. Keep these rescue/rebuild’s coming! Can’t wait to see how this one turns out. Best videography so far. Liked and commented!
I’ve had my friend helping with the filming and editing. He’s been showing me TONS of new methods as you can see in this past one. Hopefully it just keeps on getting better 😁
@ It was top notch for sure!
Just a thought but instead of spray paint try aviation permatex. Very thin drying and meant to seal.
Definitely going to try that, sounds like it’ll hold up well on automotive stuff!
Elseas' World! LET'S GO!
I've got a shitbox of a 2006 fiat punto i'm trying to bring the further possible, this 250z is a gem 👌
Hey Micheal. Another great episode. 👌 Well done, great job you're doing so far. Keep going. With your attitude, this channel will grow. 🎉🎉
Woot! It's coming together really nice! I just noticed that super cringey "King of Vertex" steering wheel. It's so bad I think you should keep it as a memento of the previous owner.
Just checkt in for the first time. Liking it already😊
Glad to have you here, hope you enjoy!
Nice Michael! Im here for it.
New subscriber but dude! I love your attitude and your approach to doing stuff. Also your explanations are great. Different than my other favs, scraplife, LSC, Vicegrip, but quickly becoming one of my must watch when you upload!👍
Thanks so much! Those guys are on a whole other level but hopefully I can catch up ❤️
You still have the Lexus there, it needs a new interior and those horrible black windows have to go. Me waiting 😊
This is a cool build. Really enjoy watching it!
Loving it, great vibes with you guys, and my old days dream nissan 350z, keep it up, great stuff 😊
Great video. Keep it up your killing it!
Now you need a dry ice pressure cleaning machine!
ngl now it looks alot better especially the entirior
Dude manual is a must...loving your videos...keep it up...looking forward for the next video!
Agreed, manual is life! ❤️
This is growing into one of the better channels on UA-cam. Keep up the awesome work and viewers will come!
My favorite new channel
Welcome and thank you!
this is the best car channel on youtube cant believe it's only 30ksub
I don’t know about that but I greatly appreciate the compliment 😁. It’s growing like crazy but more would be fantastic!
@@ElseasWorld tbh actually it is really good and it is also surprising it's only 30k so ???? Keep em coming anyways. The 350 with the cigarettes was brave.
you earn yourself a subscriber!
Awesome work! I wasn’t sure how far you were going to take it but manual swap for the win!
I did auto to 6 speed swap on my Audi when auto trans blew out on me. I don’t know how the 350 ecu/modules work with them but I had right diagnostic tool (vcds) to change the ecu and abs coding to manual. I imagine the 350 is something similar but good work +1 sub
Ps:I might be with the people hard to believe there isn’t some sort of smell from that carpet or very deep cracks/dashboard lmao either way keep up good work!
Thanks! Definitely need to do a few things to keep the ECU happy and not have a million lights on the dash. Going to work through all that soon!
18:45 ha ha 'Predator' throw back
9:12 "That's what she said!"
Very nice Video, thank you 😊.
this guy is always uploading the best videos
Thank you! 😁
Nice work my man. AAA+++
Glad I'll be able to say I've been here since 27k subs
Love the cup mate
intake plenum spacer while youre in there
You should invest in a levelling bar.
what about a low boot turbo? turbo is never a bad idea 😂
would you show us your other projects in and in front of your garage?
Bro! Get some long tube headers!
Keep on grinding
36:50 have you ever seen someone use bread, as a way to push a pilot bearing out? I've witnessed someone pack hot dog buns in and keep squishing it in and it forced the bearing out.
I’ve always heard of it being done but never successfully done it, I need a mythbusters on this one haha
@@ElseasWorld I can attest. They were my hot dog buns. It was on a 99 4.6 Mustang GT. My buddy came over to supervise me doing my flywheel and clutch, and I didn't own a slide hammer.
Swear to you, under a minute he had that old pilot bearing out. Buns and a punch and hammer.
"WHERES MY TEN MILLIMETER!??!" said no mechanic ever...
"I've never had one go in that easy" that's what she said
YESS, been waiting for this
Got me to subscribe. Very good content and you are cool
I hope you put some loctite on your flywheel plate cuz it could vibrate off like what happened with my ex girlfriend cuz she had someone put in the clutch plate and they didn't put loctite on it and it ended up getting loose and I had to redo everything and put in a new transmission as well cuz the plate came off and blew up the bell housing 😂.
Oh yeah I always do loctite on the flywheel and pressure plate bolts, I’ve seen too many fail. It’s scary when it happens!
Dostum seni🇹🇷 Türkiye den takip ediyorum. Hayali mi yaşıyorsun. İyi çalışmalar. işçiliğin süper tebrikler 👌
Thank you! This is definitely a dream come true, thank you for watching 😄
"I don't freaking gamble. That's why I bar cars off the woods"
Aint for gaskets? I think you misheard. They use copper spray, not paint
I did this on an 05 RX8 about a decade ago and while it ran and drove great, I had to use a Cobb access port and access tuner race to tune out all of the pissed off TCM codes and check engine light. Also got lucky it didn't drop the thing into limp mode because of the missing TCM signal at the ECU. The only feature I was missing was cruise control. And yeah I had to back probe the ignition switch and run the starter signal wire through a factory clutch safety switch and on to the starter to retain that function.
Looking back I should have swapped engine & dash harnesses and ECUs with a manual car.
Do you have any plans to do that?
Apparently with these you can swap the whole harness like you’re talking about. I’m going to go through the wiring and verify because I can’t stand lights popping up on the gauge cluster 😅
@ElseasWorld not sure about you but the PRNDL indicator annoyed me after the swap so I installed the dash from a manual car. Hopefully the Nissan gauges let you do that too.
39:57 LMAO!! Just a little awkward! Hahaha!
Just a little bit 🤣
now that you got the engine out, you can put it in my truck 😂
What is the black car with popup lights in the background
1986 Toyota Corolla GTS, it’s an absolute riot! Very fun little car
You are amazing!!!!!!
Why is it so comfortable laying under a car 😂 you could legit take a nap under there 😅
It is very peaceful under there if you can get the car high enough 😂
When’s the next video mike????
“They are like not free” hahah
DRY ICE PRESSURE WASHER
sick video (havent seen it yet)
Awesome
Without a neutral safety switch that should not run.
Cooper spray!!!!! Not spray paint!!!!
How much did you pay him to say he didn't smell anything!!! lol
Stick to the Toyotas friend ;)
