    Whilst it might be difficult for many families to get time off, we managed to do 3 weeks in Orlando. This does have benefits due to following: the bulk of your holiday cost is Flights and park tickets. Neither of which will increase with holiday duration. You simply start one 2 week park ticket such as universal on first day of arrival and then go to your first Disney park a week into your holiday to start your Disney 14 day ticket package. This will carry you thru to the end of the holiday and have access to parks for the full 3 weeks with the ability to access both park chains in your 2nd week.
    Accommodation cost difference for 2 vs 3 weeks can be surprisingly low with certain hotels & apartments. I found package holidays where the difference was less then a hundred pounds. With this you now have more than enough time to visit all parks and you get opportunity to throw in a good few rest days which I think can make the difference between a good relaxing holiday and a stressful one. Worth considering if you only plan to do Florida as a once in a lifetime.
    I personally found that in our case as 2 kids / 2 adults. Going for a villa / appt complex worked well , spending a long holiday in a single hotel room might prove demanding as you don’t get anytime away from each other. Even some of the 2 bed appts offer 2 bathrooms and large living space with full kitchens. They can be huge and generally have hotel like facilities.

    I’ve been obsessed with all things Disney since I was a little girl and every year my mum would say maybe we can go next year because we didn’t have a lot growing up. I’m in my 30’s now with children of my own and Its still my dream to go and I want to experience it all with my children. I’ve been binge watching Disney vlogs for months to try and plan our trip and I can honestly say this is the type of video I’ve been searching for.. Thank you so much I’ll be subscribing because your content is very insightful x

    Thank you for taking the time to make this, as a single mum I am bound and determined to take my little boy here and let him experience the magic my dad allowed to me experience as a child, a holiday I still talk about 24 years later! This guide will allow me to plan properly, get the best experience and allow me to give me son a magical time even if it does take me a few years to get there!

    With the Universal Premier annual pass it includes early park entry, access to all fast pass rides after 4pm… and free valet parking, which cuts out some of the security queues. Great value! I used to buy the 2 week pass and a one night stay at the Hard Rock Hotel - the cheapest way for a family of 4 to get 2 days fast passes and early park entry!

    OMG! Thank you, UA-cam algorithm, for recommending me this video! Pre covid, I was planning on going to Orlando in early 2021, and I was just starting to plan the trip. Luckily, I hadn't booked anything, but I'd pretty much figured out what I wanted to do/where I wanted to stay etc. Obviously, this got put to one side when the pandemic hit, but a few weeks ago I started thinking about possibly going in late 2022/early 2023; but got really overwhelmed with all the changes and price hikes. However, this clear, concise and informative video has cleared up a lot for me and I will be showing this video to my partner. I'm definitely going to subscribe and check out your other videos. Thank you, you have no idea how much you've helped!

    • @Chrissyhappy
      @Chrissyhappy 2 роки тому +2

      Hi. I’d have liked that too. I winged it! I’ve done I drive on my own with my two kids (one in a wheelchair). I didn’t want to drive there. I used lynx buses from I drive to Disney. Two buses. Easy, but takes over an hour. Universal, I jumped a mears cab for about $12 or we walked depending on which part of I drive we stayed at. Seaworld is one lynx bus or the I trolley. Very easy and about 20 minutes. A lot of the trips to Busch gardens etc have a coach pick up from the hotels. I did it four times alone. It’s easy enough. Some hotels even have shuttles to the parks but they can be a nightmare. Packed and loads of stops. Good luck to you.

    • @TheFrugalBrit
      @TheFrugalBrit  2 роки тому +6

      That’s a good idea. I had planned an I-trolley video but might expand it to cover other transportation needs.

    One thing to note about park-hopping in WDW right now is that you have to check into the park you reserved before you can hop. So say you book a dinner reservation for Cinderella's Royal Table on the Monday of your trip, but then you try to book your park reservation and Magic Kingdom is full up for Monday. No problem, thinks you, I'll just book Animal Kingdom and go to Magic Kingdom after two. But Monday comes, and you're jet-lagged, and you sleep in, and Animal Kingdom is so far away, so you just decide to chill and go to MK at two or three, to ride a few rides before your dinner reservations. But if you haven't scanned into Animal Kingdom that day, your park hopping won't work. It seems like a ridiculously specific scenario, but it has happened. Best to make your back-up park Epcot so at least you can quickly monorail over, scan in, and monorail back.

    I can’t believe how expensive it’s got. We went 5 years ago at Easter for 16 days. And including spending money was 10k euros. We did a week in on-site Disney in a moderate and rest in the Rosen Inn while we did universal and they other attractions. Priced it for this year and it’s 15k.

    I stay less at the Disney end so we get the day tickets from Undercover tourist and they were excellent with issuing the refund during covid.
    Also as an extra back up, especially when booking the DIY version is to pay everything on a credit card to avail of the clause 75 as an extra 'insurance' as long as the purchase is over £100.
    Great informational video 😀

    Great overview video. Finding a hard time of year is a challenge, the second half of August is school in Scotland and if you don't want to take your kids out of school ( which we don't) it's definitely hard to find a good option. As a result we're going in July,hope the heat isn't too bad! 🤣 We're also going to have to suck up the cost of a rental car as we want to see more of Florida than just the theme parks. Our cancelled trip was DIY but we got hit hard by cancellation fees so are going through an agent this time, pricey though. Looking forward to more of your videos, they lay the information out well and I like the focus on being frugal!

    Dear parents!
    Let the kids choose their favourite Disney Parks souvenirs!!! When the kids are very good, then they deserve more souvenirs. Every good behaviour kid should have 1-2 bags of Disney Parks souvenirs: plush toys, toys, mini figures, bubble blower, Mickey ears, t-shirts, jacket, drinking bottle, and some pins or magnets and etc. Please buy only those Disney Parks souvenirs, what the kids very want!!!! I know many Disney souvenirs are very expensive, but when the kids are very good all the times, then sometimes they deserve these things!!! Please be kind parents and make Your kids very happy with these Disney Parks souvenirs, what the kids have chosen and don’t say NO all the times, when the kids very deserves those Disney Parks souvenirs for good behaviour!!!
    Respectfully,
    Astra Viil 😁🙏

    Great guide, most of it sounds logical but its great to have it all outlined in such a compact yet easy to digest video.
    One question though: Why book through Expedia and not directly at the hotel website? I find that the hotel itself usually offers mors options with rates, like non-refundable, semi-flex and full-flex.
    Also many offer discounts, sometimes surpisingly big, for long-stay. Usually they have it for more then 5 nights which you will most likely want anyway, and other discounts like early-booking, free breakfast promotion etc. And of course you can often even choose these discounts in combination with flexibility options.
    My experience is that a intermediary hotel website is rarely cheaper and offers less possibilities when choosing the reservation options. As you rightly point out, these are uncertain times with the pandemic so choosing a rate that suites you seems extra important, for example one that only requires you to pay when you are actually physically there at the reception. The obvious awnser to this of course is : Check both and simply choose what you want, but I was just wondering why Expedia is often the best for you.

    • @TheFrugalBrit
      @TheFrugalBrit  2 роки тому +1

      Thank you Sander. Good points well made. To be honest, whenever I do try to go directly with the hotel, it nearly always seems more expensive. However, most people seem to agree that this is the best approach. Opodo usually comes in the cheapest, but then I tend to go with Expedia as I trust them more. Ideally I would explored this in the video. Tempted to make a mini video on this.

      @@TheFrugalBrit Sounds like a great idea. There are so many ways to search for and book a hotel reservation. I think there is no one way to always get the best deal, but a video on a strategy to find what you need sounds very useful. Perhaps include a warning that people shouldn't be tempted to go for the often cheap non-refundable rate. Even when you don't encounter problems and save a few bucks, the stress is just not worth it in my opinion. One bad covid test is enough to turn everything into a disaster.

    Can I ask about tipping. What things do you tip for and how much is acceptable?

    • @katszulga1888
      @katszulga1888 2 роки тому +3

      Hi Jo, North American here. One of the reasons our prices look so cheap is because a lot of companies barely pay their employees, expecting that the income will be made up in tips. 15% is acceptable, but outdated, as 18% has become the norm. 20-25% if you feel they treated you exceptionally well. Please do absolutely tip at restaurants, as in most cases your server has to tip out a portion of their sales figures for the night to hosts, bussers, kitchen staff, and bartenders. If you don't tip they are paying out of pocket for you to eat there. There is also a trend of "tipping the bill", or a 100% tip. It's not ubiquitous, but if you can afford it and your server was amazing you can really make their whole week. This tends to happen more around Christmas when patrons know that servers have Christmas gifts to buy on top of their regular bills, but is also amazing to do anytime, as American servers often don't have medical insurance, so you might just save them from a crippling medical debt. But if you are on a budget, 15% will at least keep them employed.
      You might also want to tip you Uber/Lyft/cab driver. Especially in Uber or Lyft where you have an account in the app, tipping will make your account show up as one that drivers will want to prioritize, which might be crucial if you're trying to get a car on time to make a dinner reservation.
      The last place you'll want to have some cash for tips are porters and housekeeping. This might not matter during the pandemic as a lot of these services are suspended, but if you have a porter carry your bags the usual tip is $1 per bag (minimum of $5) and for housekeeping $1 per person per night (minimum of $5/night). For housekeeping leaving the money out daily will ensure a thorough clean daily, and also means that the staff doing the work will get the tip, as staff might rotate rooms.
