Pegasus Cryptobiology - Design a realistic pegasus!

- How exactly can we get this horse to fly? With just a little tweaking, this is one way to construct a biologically believable pegasus for your fantasy setting.
And yes, I know Pegasus was the name of a single individual, but the name is widely used to refer to the entire species. What else are we supposed to call them?

This was created for me specifically. Thank you
*Riding a pegasus, expectation vs. reality*
*Expectation:* Onward and upward to the skies, my noble steed! Glorious battle for the fate of our land awaits!
*Reality:* *hop* Ow. *hop* Ow! *hop* OW! *hop* STOP, STOP, I WANT TO GET OFF! I know we're not airborne yet, but screw it, I'll just walk towards glorious battle for the fate of our land!
This was really fantastic, both in the beautiful animation and the interesting science behind it! I hope you'll continue this series!
phenominal! what an excellent video! I'm shocked it doesn't have more views!
This is awesome!
This is exactly what I’ve been looking for I’m trying to do this with a bunch of my animals in my book like winged Rideable wolves, winged rideable felines & dragons. I’ve been also trying to figure out how to make winged people. I really hope you continue this series because I can’t find anything like this anywhere else
More please!!👏😍 about realistic Dragons, gorgon and more cryptids odds! Wonderful animation!! Marvelous
Loved this.
I do like this, though I am also tempted by a simple gliding horse with ribs that extend out like that of a flying lizard.
You talked about the keel bone, but you missed the wishbone...it acts like a spring to put more power into each flap...but other than that, this video was absolutely amazing, and I really hope you make more of this series!
Or turn it into an omnivorous pterosaur horse that walks on its wings and hind legs.
I wish you had more Cryptobiology videos on ur channel. I would love to see you cover dragons, mermaids, Griffins, unicorns, and all that kinda that stuff.
According to the question in the description for this video, I can answer this one.
A horse with wings is called a pterippus. I think that is how I spell it. Everybody is more familier with pegasus because I guess it is more easier to spell and it is well more known than just the species name itself.
This was fantastic in both content and animation.
This is starting to look like a Jersey Devil...
This is EXACTLY the kind of series I’ve been looking for, I hope you feel like doing more someday :3
Nifty
The animations are stunning!
Me at two in the morning: Ah yes, science
If you ever decide to continue this series with other creatures I’d love that. This is just what I’m looking for for my story!
This is great. Interesting, entertaining and the animation was wonderful. Thanks for making such unique content.
THIS VIDEO IS SOOOOOOO UNDERRATED!!!!
but can realistic pegasi punch?
(i'm kind of making a stupid saint seiya reference)
anyway, good work! i hope to see more! also, it just hit me that you could do away with the front limbs altogether and add on hoof-like claws on the wings for getting around on the ground if you want it to be mobile on both the ground and in the air
I Headcanon A Hyper Scientifically Realistic Pegasus to be a Taxomoinc Family of Ungulate (Hooved) Bats
This is so much fun, thank you! I like using magic in my worldbuilding but also giving it a bit of nature inspiration too. So seeing the “All built from existing animal parts” idea taken to the logical extreme for one of my favorite creatures is so much fun XD
How to design a Hippogriff
this video was stunning!
I've been trying to find out why horses don't have split hooves, meanwhile all other hooved animals I can think of do. Horses seem more agile than cows and bison, yet goats and pigs are more agile than horses and their sizes are all inconsistent to be a factor. Being grazing animals doesn't seem to matter either, so why only horses?
Two completely separate lineages of mammals which developed hooves independent of each other. Basically the only reason for the different numbers of toes is because the two developed their feet in two different ways. With horses, only the middle toe (third digit) developed to bear weight. In even-toed mammals, the second *and* third digit both developed to bear weight. Really neither is better than the other, they're just two different solutions to the same problem. This is called convergence (unrelated species developing the same adaptations as each other)
tank u
I love it. You and Gemma did a great job.
So about the wing placement... What if specifically for dragon designs, the wings are placed behind the front legs BUT, the foreleg's shoulders were structured somewhat like a crocodile? With immobile shoulder blades that wouldn't mess up the wing mobility? Awesome video btw. (Please someone correct me if I'm wrong about crocodilian scapulas being immobile.)
Amazing video, is it possible you're going to do more of these? A centaur or a chimera would be so cool!
youre out here doing g-ds work, creating species out of almost nothing! as a fantasy fan, i salute to you!
pls try making a werewolf episode
nice take on the realistic pegasus! would be interesting if you do other mythical creatures :p
Nifty
Imagine if it had a horn
Wild! I love the way you use your zoological knowledge to render the mythological plausible. BTW, what is the bird @8:48?
It looks to be a young hoatzin

@@mariar8261 You're welcome!
You gonna add anything to this playlist?
Love this hehe
How you could do that simulation?
