- Patrick Duffy made a name for himself in the ‘70s and ‘80s playing Bobby Ewing on CBS’ popular soap Dallas. But for many, he’s better remembered as TV dad Frank Lambert on ABC’s Step by Step, which was a TGIF staple through much of the ‘90s.
Duffy has had a long and successful career on the small screen, and at the end of 2020, he was lucky enough to get a second chance at love with his Lifetime movie co-star. The actor may be doing well now, but he's gone through quite a lot of tragedy in his life, including the loss of his parents and wife. Here’s how the tragedy of Patrick Duffy is just heartbreaking.

Same here. I was 20 yo in 1978. 💜 Dallas was on Friday nights. My mom & I talked on the phone EVERY Saturday morning for hours deducing what was happening & why...and predicting what would happen next. Fond memories. ❤🥺💜🥰

I loved the show Dallas! I watched it every Friday night, if I had a date, my date had to watch it with me, that’s just how it went. I never knew about Patrick Duffy’s life and all the tragic losses he experienced. I just saw a quota that says, Life is like a book. Some chapters are happy, some chapters are sad, and some chapters are exciting. But unless you turn the page you will never know what the next chapter will bring. I am so happy that Patrick has found love again at this time in his life. Especially when we get older, it’s so hard to face life alone. So very happy for both of them.

The Man From Atlantis was the only thing I saw him in, I hate soaps. He could have nailed that series and maybe got a movie or three out of it, alas for the writers that let him down. The premise was fascinating for the day, like the Six Million Dollar Man underwater, but the writers... ugh. Iirc Belinda Montgomery was in it too, and in my teens, omg, she was so gorgeous just seeing her in a bathing suit would probably have made my parents concerned enough to take me to a doctor...

I watched Dallas every Friday night with my mom Patrick Duffy as Bobby Ewing was my favorite when that show ended I watched Patrick in step by step then again watching him in newer version of Dallas until that ended. I am glad he found true love again after he lost his wife I like Linda Purl much happiness to them both.
U are an amazing guy that that has been through a lot of loss and enjoy the happy times now .your wife and parents will always be love and miss but not forgotten
First time I saw him on TV was in 'Man from Atlantis' and he was so cute
Patrick never wallows in his sorrow. He handles death pretty well, but I think his wife's death knocked him back on his heels. I saw him get real skinny. That comes from depression filling up the stomach and one forgets to eat. I saw that with a friend who lost her husband in Iraq. You have to remember to eat. Thank God Patrick recovered and Linda is his new love. I pray she keeps him grounded and happy.

I was a very strong Dallas fan. We had Oscar winning quality actors and story lines. Just an excellent show. I want to Thank Dallas, for making my Wedding even more exciting, by having The Who Shot JR, the night before my Wedding. I should have had a charm on my Garter, with that phrase “Who Shot J R. on it. All of guests watched in our new apartment. My husband and I will never forget.

My father. DICK SEGEL, worked on the radio in DFW for WBAP Radio. He was the traffic pilot. He was the person that flew the helicopter when they flew through Dallas and shot the opening credits film for the show. DALLAS

How ironic. I've been watching DALLAS since last month. I watched it back in the 80's but when you're in your early 20's there are better things to do with your life. I do remember when his parents got shot and it really saddened & shocked me.
