    I learned this last year and wondered why no coaches ever told me about the kinetic chain. Maybe they didn't give a crap. Well, now I have pop so screw you crappy coaches.

    You’re teaching style is clean, direct & unfussy. Thanks. I accidentally hit a forehand with pop the other day. The sensation was indeed as if I’d abandoned my hitting arm; it came through last, almost like an oversight. Like I said, it was kind of an accident. I noticed the power and penetration immediately, and worked backwards to try to figure out what made it happen. Then a few days later, your video arrives with a clear explanation!!

    Great advice delivered clearly. What else can you ask for! I like when you say "a lot of people just don't get athletic on the shot". That's good advice... we tend to get lazy out there and just swipe at the ball.

    New sub, loved your teaching style! Any chance you could do a video on "most common tennis injuries and how to avoid them" - I recently injured my back and never knew that a solid core training program was necessary to avoid these types of injuries when playing tennis (since there's so much load and whip going through your back)!

    Doctor, I attended a tennis camp last weekend. We did some great drills and I was popping hard forehands with topspin. At the end, we played some doubles games and I was pushing. Is that due probably to slowing down the racquet and not just going for it?

    Very easy to theorize and illustrate when you're standing still, but seeing you run for a shot while illustrating would be far more realistic because footwork very much affects how you execute this in a practical situation.

    Like the advice and I agree totally. You can though get a popping sound by just using the arm, but the effort to do that with just the arm is why so many players get tennis elbow imo. I learned to turn my body through and get the whip effect on the forehand and it has made it so much more powerful and less effort (when I do it right). No macho I can make it pop just by hitting the ball hard - when you do it as this coach says, the power just appears with practically no effort.

  • @JB-bc9nm
    @JB-bc9nm Рік тому +2

    I've been playing for years and I couldn't figure out my forehand. I'd been doing so many things wrong. I could never generate power, and I see why. I almost always hit the ball short.
    It's taken me years, just to relax my grip because I thought that's the problem. Then I thought it was my timing. But actually I was never using my l legs, hips, chest, then arms to generate power to the racket
    . I'm heading to the court shortly. Less is more. Thank you for this video. I'll let you know how it goes.

      @carlotc3766 Рік тому

      @@jorgeandrescoppiano is right about timing being the main factor. The other comments will help you get the timing right. For me, what helps is visualizing hitting the ball at the 2 o’clock angle (the clock face being the side of the ball facing your left side). It naturally adjusts your movement to the correct timing whether the ball comes at you fast or slow, your body will adjust as long you have the fundamentals down

    I can put my weigth on a flat ball, without swinging fast with the arm, but i find it more difficult on a topspin shot. I can hit a decent topspin forehand but it lacks some penetration. If i try to put my body weigth on this type of shot ball will go long because i cannot give much rotation AND weigth on the same time
