I think this quote sums up the role of Gollum, and the other Hobbits too rather well although it wasn't said originally about this "Now ye may suppose that this is foolishness in me; but behold I say unto you, that by small and simple things are great things brought to pass; and small means in many instances doth confound the wise." Thanks for the video, this was my first year I've observed Hobbit Day!
Poor thin Sméagol. When it comes to pitying him I always think it revealing that the extent of his imagination (should he get the Ring back) is to be served fresh fish every day. It’s like the humblest form of tyranny lol. Having said that, he is quite fond of squeezing necks etc so you can’t let your guard down!

Glad you were able to observe this year. Here’s to many more!
Thanks for watching!
I love Gollum.
I do too. One of Tolkien’s most interesting characters (and I like most of his characters).
Thanks for watching!

Sméagol is a very pitiful character for sure. And that’s part of what makes him great.
