Tickets were never cheap but we always felt that we got our money's worth. He has a lot of energy and his band is made up of great musicians who clearly are passionate about their music.

Brian Culberson is a really true smooth jazz musician. Brian is the man who knows how to lead his band members straight to business. I love all of his music it me gives so much joy and honor that he is here on earth to entertain us all.🎸
Wait! What?! Talent, skill, improvisation, this man has everything it takes to be called a great jazz musician! Do you hear the pure tightness of his amazing jaw dropping band!
The bass was everything? Really? So. Uh. Drums sucked? Keyboards? Nada? Sax? So I know what you like to hear but I also know what you apparently choose not to listen to. Too bad. Limited vision. And even less otic response capacity.
Too right Phyllis, you made me laugh. this is a supreme combination of talented musicians who in turn get their chance to shine when required and the culmination is what we hear. A great 54 second bass solo though to admire and the rest are just as awesome, sax soloist, guitarists, drummer, brass section, percussionist, truly all superb. Check out the guitarists face at 6.09 looking at the bass player. "Damn bro, gimme some of that to squeeze in my coffee, that's sweet!!". All good.
thesoledad25 Finally. Someone who hears the whole rather than the part. Culbertson's keyboard solo, especially the high end work is really an extraordinary piece of work. The drummer is incredibly tight. I've worked with some talented drummers in my time but that's as good as it gets. The piece as a whole is not as "free as one might find in pieces that allow for more flexibility in jazz. But the funk/pop element provides he more predictable compositional stylings of those forms and is more structured than what purists of jazz would expect. I mean it's not Charlie Parker or Miles but it takes nothing away from the displayed musicianship here. Sadly, what we hear in this version has not been duplicated in live performances I've seen. Of course, the studio setting gives much more control to post production and mixing so clearly that's going to displace a stage performance. But I'm all for studio and fixing the acoustical problems presented by outdoor and stage settings.
I started listening to Brian Culbertson this year. I just love his music, heck whoever he plays with in his band they are all great. I have bought several cd's along with his Triology cds. Thanks Brian for making so many folks happy.
