I searched, found and purchased this telecaster entirely inspired and based on your review. I love it. The neck is a joy to play and the tones are better (to my ear) than any other telecaster I have seen or heard under $1500. Thanks for your inspiring review mate.
Can't beat G&L MDF pups. I had 2 s500s, 2 ASAT Specials. an ASAT Classic, an ASAT Bluesboy hollow body and 2 ASAT Deluxes. High quality bolt-ons with unbeatable pick ups. My G&L L2000 bass has the best bass pick-ups I've ever heard.
Cool guitar..for someone who is still searching for their first tele this guitar has popped up over and over..can't deny the quality or craftsmanship of the g +l the necks and fretwork are highly praised
I once had a G&L ASAT Bluesboy, but I didn’t like the neck humbucker - very muddy. Their workmanship was sound. And even though your guitar sounds great for $279, I rather have my Squier Classic Vibe with Alnico III pickups in it.
Hello Colin and crew😄what a coincidence. I've had my eyes on a G&L Tele for sometime, but have not had the chance to play one, so this is a treat to hear an opinion here. Cheers, mate
Vintage brand makes a Jerry Donahue Vintage V58JDAB that is my personal favorite, under $500 tele that you should try. 50’s neck & special wiring with push in tuners. Sounds and plays amazingly!
Amazing... sounds more like a telecaster than a Fender if that makes sense. Flipping great sounding guitar. And obviously brilliant playing as usual, what a guitar.. and for the money you had it given you. Well done you 👏
G&L ASAT is very nice all around. All four colors look great, it would be hard to choose. The black and butterscotch are classy, but the blue with tortoise shell scratchplate is just sexy. Great build and finish quality, hardware. Pickups and controls work well. Quite a package for the money, so I have another guitar to consider now. Thanks, Colin. Have a fine weekend everyone and Cheers from Dallas!
G&L definitely go under the radar, in this country. That looks, and sounds, like a phenomenally good T-type guitar, but not one many people would usually go for, if looking for a T-type for around £500.00. An excellent start to the T-type shoot-out - can't wait for the rest in the series, you big tease you!
I’m revisiting some of these videos, simply because I have more time now, often I would watch Colin, have a laugh, give him a thumbs up and off I’d go. More time to think about things now, went on a search for a G&L but these are all now out of stock, you must have inspired a lot of people to buy them. Question though, I find myself talking to myself or really Colin in these videos, luckily I’m usually by myself, anyone else out there doing this? 😂
I had the G&L Legacy Tribute series a few years ago. One of my regrets for selling it. It was fantastic. The controls on it were so much better than the typical Fender wiring. And I am a Fender guy. I will get another G&L one day. This is gonna be an awesome series. Looking forward to it.
Glad you’ve come to the G&L camp! The ASAT Classic is the quintessential rock telecaster, those pickups just wanna rock out. If you are in the mood for something different, check out the ASAT Special. The Special got the Jumbo MFD pickups and I think they sound like bright P90s, a P90 had a baby with a Telecaster. Fantastic video as always! Stay free.
Since I discovered this guitar she became the only T-Type in my arsenal. I've got an older model with swamp ash body which makes her a bit heavy but I'm a big boy and I manage. Installed Graphtech locking tuners and string tree for no specific reason just because I can. I keep saying she needs a new switch but it still hasn't failed so I keep it in. This brand is severely underrated, the tribute series offer great vfm! Just my 2 cents, cheers!
Okay...before watching I’ll just say this that since the 80s, other guitarists and myself were singing the praises of both G&L as well as music man amplifiers, at that time. I can’t imagine G&L having changed at all. They’ve always been one of those super affordable guitars that feels, sounds and play like a super expensive American guitar. Now I’ll watch the video. Thanks!
Looking forward to this series. I enjoyed most how this guitar inspired you to play in a different style. It sounded great by the way. I have owned an American made ASAT classic semi hollow for about 16 years and it is fantastic.
I bought a butterscotch one of these a few years back (can’t even remember why) think I paid £399 from Andertons. Out of the box it was a sweet sounding mainly well put together guitar. As we do as enthusiasts we mess about with guitars, I wasn’t totally bonding with the MFD’s so decided to put some Bare knuckle Boot Camp True Grit pickups in it and discovered the MFD neck pickup was quite badly damaged and just screwed into the body at an angle to hide the issue. By this time I had owned the guitar at least 6 months so didn’t feel I could send it back. So went ahead and put in the Bare Knuckles and loved the result. This encouraged me to do further upgrades so got a full wiring harness from Bloodstone and investigated drop in locking tuners and ended up with some Graphtech Ratio tuners which I can confirm are literally drop in with no need for the extra bits that come in the box with them. Now this is my favourite Tele style guitar (I own a few). Mine doesn’t have the body carve presume that must be a later update to the model. Unplugged as you demonstrated it’s so resonant and bright which to me always translates to a sweet plugged in sound. Been literally waiting years for a decent video on these guitars. Thanks Colin.
Forgot to mention the neck and fretwork on mine was perfect can’t ever remember having adjusted the neck relief got pretty low action with no buzz. I change the strings occasionally and give it a wipe down and it’s totally trustworthy. Tempted to try the Larry Carlton T7 (I think it’s called) waiting for your assessment.
Great stuff Colin! I have had a Tribute Classic Bluesboy (humbucker in the neck) for a couple of years now and agree totally with you. Great value, underrated guitars. I have some Montys pickups I am going to put into it, and might change the controls too. As for Sassafras, I believe that is what Eric Johnsons' strat is made from if memory serves me right.
I owned a G@L Strat with MFD Pickups and the pole pieces are adjustable height, using an Allen Wrench. The extra tallness of each Pickup is what I have always heard referred to as "Stacked". In this case it has everything to do with the overall Pickup design and function. No expert here,if I am wrong on anything it's unintentional.... I've had so many pass through that it all gets a bit hazy at times. You take care of yourself my friend, love this Channel.
Hi Colin! I really enjoyed that. G&Ls are highly underrated, and they do go under the radar. I personally think that the headstock throws people off at first. Not that they're bad or ugly necessarily, they're just different. People buy with their eyes and I've been guilty of this before as well. Then I played one. I worked at a very large box retailer at the time with approximately 1000 guitars in the store including some very high-end pieces. We weren't a G&L dealer, but we bought one in used. It was an ASAT tele style made overseas. The pickups were different though. It had what looked like two mini p-90s. I picked it up out of curiosity and plugged it in. This thing was killer! I had my choice of custom shop anything to play whenever I wanted, but this one became my go to during down time and I was sad to see it go when it sold. I still remember it approximately a decade and a half later. I've never seen a deep dive like the one you did on this one and the pickups really fascinate me. They look a little like stacked humbuckers and sounded great in the video. This guitar definitely punches above its weight at the going retail price point. So the price that you got it at makes it an absolute steal for the amount of guitar that you're getting. Whatever tele style guitars you do next will really be up against it when being compared to this one. My guess is that it's a keeper that you won't want to sell, and that it will likely stay in your collection permanently. I always enjoy your videos, but this guitar made this one even more enjoyable. I even got a little excited when I saw it in the thumbnail before I clicked on it. Thanks for a great video. 👍 Cheers Colin! ✌
Good to see you doing some Telecasters! G&Ls are fantastic guitars; even the Tribute line is killer. The major advantage to buying an American-made G&L is that you have better hardware and more options available-the Tributes have only a couple of finishes available per model, and if you don’t like the standard neck shape you’re pretty much out of luck. The American line has several different neck shapes and wood options available-I have a 1-11/16” nut width on my ASAT Z-3, with a birdseye maple neck and ebony fingerboard with binding. Just an example of what you can get in the US line. But the Tributes are apparently good quality too-they use the American-made pickups on those. OK, a couple of corrections-ASAT is pronounced “Aysat”, not “a$$hat”. It’s a US military acronym for “Anti-SATellite”. Apparently, Leo Fender liked the idea of a guitar shooting down things in space! The model originally had two of the large MFD pickups, and was called the Broadcaster-and Gretsch made them change the name! Deja vu all over again! That model is still available as the ASAT Special, and those pickups are unbelievably great! I couldn’t get three of them on mine, although they’ve done some like that in the past, and maybe they’ll do it now from their Custom Shop; I don’t know!
Love this episode and can’t wait for the shoot out! I’ve been loving my 2003 Korean made thinline asat for years now. They do some great things , swamp ash bodies, nice necks and fret work, American pickups and hardware. Don’t forget you can adjust your individual pole pieces on your pick ups and can recreate staggered pick up sounds! I just started finding some great overdrive tones with the tone rolled back on the bridge pick up! And I recently upgraded the nut & string tree (graph tech) and tuners (hipshot open staggered locking) and I’m in love even more ! Keep the great content coming!
Sounds FABULOUS!! Have a USA G&L ASAT Tele (MFDs)....and an Indonesian G&L strat, S-500 also with MFDs. Both are amazing....the Strat is as great sounding as my USA Strats. Love the Tele minus the chunky neck.
you have the best reviews, so complete, helped me make a move on one of these, had a thinline tribute years ago and it was a solid player, so after watching this was confident on going for one of these in butterscotch blonde to boot! full on blackgaurd vibe , thanks again for your vids they are so helpful and well done sir!!!
Bloody Hell Colin! Now lve gotta go searching for a G&L mate! Never held or played one, but l like the idea of 6 brass saddles & Alpha Korean pots aren't the worst things made, so you snagged a bargain. Great work again mate!
I picked up one used. It's absolutely flawless. The neck is absolutely perfect. I play mine through a Bugera v55 with an OCD pedal as a boost. There's nothing it can't play, to me anyway.
I own 5 G&L USA guitars. 4 strats and an asat special 3 bolt. I can honestly say I play them more often than my USA Fender collection. I keep falling back to them to the point I put vintage MFD pickups in my favorite USA stratocaster and wired it treble bass. These are fantastic guitars that really lend themselves to great sound. I'm not familiar with the tribute line but if I were shopping for a beginners priced guitar I would be all about that line instead of Squire. There is a difference in the necks and bodies from tribute to USA, I'm not sure what it is but the G&L USA factory has verified used guitars for me. It's a real problem counterfeiting tributes as USA guitars as it makes a huge difference in price. One of the few places you can have a custom guitar built for just about the same price as production. I am pretty sure they don't differentiate in pickup strength or impedence neck to bridge in the modern plain single coil guitars. I will say they have a pickup similar to a jb in the deluxe legacy that's modern. The older legacy deluxe has a Seymore Duncan JB in it that came stock. That big plate under the mfd pickup is a noise shield. Older mfd pickups have copper plate much the same.
Yet another gem of a video. I was looking at one of these G&L's before i got a '94 Fender Telecaster. Really nice guitars and I'll no doubt pick one up in the near future. Thanks Colin...or should I say Thanks 'Mr. Guitar' of The Guitaristas'.......I'm calling you Mr Guitar from now on :)
You got a massive deal on it. I just bought one a couple weeks ago. Exceptional build quality. Quite bright, I swapped the treble bleed in the volume pot to bleed off to ground instead. Great guitar.
I've just this last 8 months started to play a telecaster my second, after 20 years of set neck Epiphones, a Harley Benton 62 vintage series, bound custom, I know some may sneer but it's one of the best guitars I've ever had, my playing is improving hugely and to be honest the only real change has been this new telecaster. My budget is tight so I try to get value for money, I've been buying guitars when I can for quite some time and I like to think I'd know a lemon when I see one, it's all about getting in on the fun and playing no matter what level you are, I always enjoy your videos Colin. You never know what's next, arse looping anyone?
I just bought an EART 335 that you definitely should check out…incredible fir $400…I was really blown away…been playing for a long time and I put Seymour Duncan antiquity pickups in it, although the stock ones were quite good…but this guitar weighs 6lbs, stainless steel frets, roasted neck….rosewood board…thing is awesome
Nice one Colin, I’ve got a 2020 G&L Tribute ASAT in the blonde with the Cherry fingerboard, humbucker in the neck , Indonesian made , love it , it was the last of the one piece ash body , and they did come with the USA pickups, I upgraded the electronics and neck pup to a Seymour Jazz , these are GREAT. guitars man , mines a keeper at 6lb 10oz , I paid $500 for mine in 2020 , Peace ✌🏻 Colin ,
Just wanted to make a suggestion as to adding another worthy tele-style guitar for your compare vid: Schecter PT Special. Sorry if I am giving you more work here, hoping it will really make for interesting content. Great stuff nonetheless, Colin. Thank you for your awesome work!
Great Video, thanks! It’s weird how Leo comes back at the time Fender is at its lowest but G+L never really take off. Seems could have been a different story there.
I bought a G&L Precision Bass at the time ('84?) because there were no USA Fender basses being made. Hollow pole pieces, passive, 3-bolt neck. Looked nice, well made, great case, good VFM. But it just sounded bland to me, like absolutely no "character" at all. I never bonded with it. Ended up trading it for a used Gibson "Grabber" bass, which was in many ways it's exact opposite lol.
@@voiceofexperience Same here; I’ve had two US made ASATs that I ordered new: one a Classic and a Leo Fender Signature Special with the larger pickups. I found them sterile sounding as compared to vintage style Telecasters; they were lacking in the midrange and the organic sound department. I sold them.
Mr. Mr. Fenders MFD pups are some of the fuller toned single coils imo😁 The ability to adjust each polepiece is handy👍 Getting a scooped tone is easy to achieve by just making the outside polepieces higher than inside. Then reverse on the other pup for mid boost. When combined in pup selector middle position the guitar is balanced. Great score there Colin 😉👍 😎👍❤🖖 Love Brother
Great show as ever fella, I just bought a PRS Standard 24/08 in Tobacco burst from Andertons for £499 in the Sale, seriously Get one before their gone, trust me bruv. @@theguitaristas I know I’ve not been subbed for long so excuse the familiarity but, Mate I totally get that, I was the same! that’s why I got a tobacco burst coz you can see the 3 well matched pieces of mahogany, but it rings like no other guitar I own or have owned, I’ve never liked Wide necks, but their Wide slim is fantastic, The pick ups are these TCi S tings from the Core model and tie in so well with the Body’s ring, it’s uncanny, The build quality and finish put Gibson/Fender to shame and give the custom shop range a good showing! And this is the SE cor-tek delight for less the 500 notes.. Even the birds thing I thought was proper gimmicky coz I thought it was a bird flying up/down the neck, turns out there all different birds and in the flesh are quite well done… not often at 57 ish I need to admit I got shit wrong, because we tend to know what we’re doing and our minds with it’s little biases, truth is it seems I’ve/ we’ve been missing out on something extremely special that happens once in a lifetime! I've just bought a s500 tribute!!! And it's simply lovely it's sonic blue with rosewood fretboard. I live in Thailand now but in pound note terms i paid 480 quid. I've had American fenders and Gibson guitars when I was living in the UK. I stopped playing when I came to Thailand about 10 years ago just started again and I'm shocked by what you can get nowadays for not big money!!! I've also just got a sire t7 fm and let me tell you that is also very good. Keep up the good work bruv .😊
This is the first video of yours I’ve come across and I absolutely LOVE your style! I’m also shopping for a Tele-style guitar and have been curious about G&L. I think I will watch your Tele comparison video next!
Thank you for your honest review and your entertaining approach. I really like watching your videos. Any chance on seeing a PRS SE on your channel? I would like to hear your opinion on the SE DGT or one of the SE 594 models! Cheers from Belgium
Great video, as usual. I think a lot of people are quick to dismiss G&L as just Fender copies, but I really like that they actually do a lot of things differently and have their own character to them. If you can get your hands on one, I'd love to see you take a look at a G&L Tribute Fallout.
I always found it odd that people say Fender copies, G&L stands for George Fullerton and Leo Fender, these geezers were the original founders of Fender Guitars and invented both the tele- and stratocaster.
Hi Colin, what a lovely surprise to see a GSL Tribute. In 2018, I came across a used one for very little. It was the most playable guitar I ever laid my hands on. Ergo, it made me sound better than I was. Can you believe I turned it down because it was a cherry sunburst? I've been regretting it since. Nothing a can of rattle paint would not have remedied. Great guitars whether Indonesian or Fullerton, USA.
I picked up a G & L Strat a few years ago, really impressed. However, it still proved that I'm really not a Strat lover but it was really well made and sounded terrific. Traded in towards a very nice Nashville Telecaster
I've got a Fallout tribute 👌 Got it a few years ago for $500 Aussie. 1 of my faves. Missed out on a asat special for $450 not long ago. That would be my choice of the T style G&Ls. But would definitely try out a H S version. Love the channel 👍
One detail about both pickups is that the individual pole pieces have a hex key socket, so you can “balance” the output string by string, for example if you use a wound 3rd G string you can correct any tendency to be too loud.
People ask me why I like coming down to Colin's basement. The couches are comfy. Holy smokes, Colin, I bow down to Leo Fender once again. Ceramic plate magnets got me sizzlin'!
Nice video,i had a g&l strat legacy and it wasn't a good guitar, the fine E string went always from the neck,i had two sell it.i wonder if it was for the whole serie guitars...🤔
I can only fully agree. Just saw your review today whereas I bought this guitar 2 years ago. It is a crazy versatile guitar. Not playing on any single guitar since I have this one !
Thanks Colin for the nice reviews. These G&L guitars are really very good. You should definitively also incorporate the G&L Tribute ASAT Special into the overal comparison. That one might surprise you 😊
I want one of those so bad, but I just got a Squier Classic Vibe, so no new Tele-looking guitars for a while. I may replace the pups with ASAT Classic pups though.
Another great vid, Colin, thank you! The whole G & L and Heritage thing fascinates me. That Leo Fender should start another brand and the 'ex employees' at Gibson should hang on and do the same is . . . well, of interest, n 'est ce pas? Whatevs - nice guitar but nothing to write home about. Thanks, as always, for going where we cannot go and Happy New Year of the Wabbit from HK! Kung Hei Fat Choy . . . health, wealth and musicality!
I like them G&L guitars. I actually worked there at the factory for about 5 minutes a couple of years ago (until I got let go after getting the dreaded Bieber 19 - for the second time in 2020)! I know I had a couple on my wishlist - but, now I can't recall which ones! but, though I was hired as a QC/set-up tech, I barely worked on any of them. pretty much everyone was moving boxes around for a while. I'd love to go back - it was kind of a fun job (and at least it's sort of entertainment industry related. as I may have mentioned to ya before, I'm a former child actor and then a childish actor in my adult life). yeah, Dave and John Jr are the bigwigs at the company (and they also own BBE). the nuts are Tusq if I recall correctly on my second day working there, John Sr was thrown a birthday bash. so, the company secretary came into the shop in the back where I was and gave me a balloon!!! no lie, too! a little embarrassing that the "new kid in school" was getting special treatment.
Happy New Guitar Colin, great episode as usual. I've played quite a few of the G & L Guitars and I've been really impressed, thanks for sharing, great playing as usual, have a good weekend man ✌😎✌🎸
I bought a MIM tele player from Guitarguitar about 6 months ago, their service was excellent, but I should kick myself that I did not take a good look at the G&L teles while I was choosing, they sound great in your hands, and a bit less money than the MIM too!
I did the same thing, bought a new MIM tele player. I heard a local pub band who sounded great and asked the guitarist what he was playing and he told me it was one of these.
Good morning Sir! Morning? Huh.🤔 'really appreciate your content and delivery style. 'Been playing and repairing guitars since '56. I think I know guitars and tone, however I'm probably dilutional.😁 Anyway, I should say the main reason I am here is the infectious speech from the UK to the USA! Thank You Sir! (Yes it's a promotion to Sir.)!
I really love watching your videos, they are always informative, and you make me laugh. You have opened my eyes to different guitars. I must admit that I'm a big guitar snob, and I only bought American, or Japanese guitars, but now I own a couple of Mexican guitars, a Korean guitar, and a British built guitar, which was probably about the most expensive guitar I bought. But I would like to get one of those G&L's.
Hey Colin! The guitar looks and sounds very nice, the build seems more than good enough, too. Great idea for a telecaster series, looking forward! I hope someone in the forum will post more info on the pickups and their construction as i like how they sound - no mud or shrill treble, maybe better balanced than on many other teles IMO...
@@theguitaristas yeah, bet you do 😎 I'm really curious how that's gonna turn out... Btw this tele differs in the pickups being mounted directly to the body, which can account for a part of the tone I like. Seen very interesting videos on the pup mounted to the pickguard vs body, what a difference in tone... Cheers!
Hi Colin, another great video! Sounds like I'd prefer this G&L over my Squire Classic Vibe 50s! So when you're ready to sell it, hahaha! Can't wait for next week as always, best guitar show on UA-cam!!!
I'm mainly a Les Paul/PRS guy so maybe that's why I love the thickness of the sound of this axe compared to a standard Tele. Now I must buy one. Thanks for helping me spend my money!
Great video and I am looking forward to all of the upcoming tele vids. I bought an Affinity tele a couple of months ago and suddenly discovered I was a telecaster fan. Who knew! I am just waiting for a set of Vanson pickups to arrive as I find the neck pup a bit muddy. Love your channel. Keep the videos coming.
Nice video! It makes me want a G&L. Unfortunately I already have six or seven (I lose count) Tele-type guitars so it would be hard to justify. Now if it had a humbucker in the neck position, I might be able to rationalize another purchase...
I had the G&L ASAT Classic Tribute Bluesboy, humbucker in the neck tele. But recently traded it in on the same model only Fullerton USA Deluxe. Considerably more $, but well worth it. The difference is night and day.

George Fullerton and Leo Fender the OG of Electric Guitars.
Best guitar you tuber!
True.
Hello Colin and crew😄what a coincidence. I've had my eyes on a G&L Tele for sometime, but have not had the chance to play one, so this is a treat to hear an opinion here. Cheers, mate
Too kind!! 😊🙏
The G&L tribute series is fantastic. I have the legacy strat in placid blue and it plays and sounds way better than it has any right to.
Colin loves Strats!!! 🤣🤣🤣
Vintage brand makes a Jerry Donahue Vintage V58JDAB that is my personal favorite, under $500 tele that you should try. 50’s neck & special wiring with push in tuners. Sounds and plays amazingly!
I already know I'm going to enjoy this series! Can't wait to see the shootout!
Professor Faff and His Friday Circus. Another great episode - really looking forward to the Tele showdown.
Thanks Colin!
😆👍 Cheers mate!
Amazing... sounds more like a telecaster than a Fender if that makes sense.
I totally agree, Mark 🤘
G&L definitely go under the radar, in this country. That looks, and sounds, like a phenomenally good T-type guitar, but not one many people would usually go for, if looking for a T-type for around £500.00. An excellent start to the T-type shoot-out - can't wait for the rest in the series, you big tease you!
I don't think I will ever hit the time stamps. I grab a coffee and enjoy, thank you sir.
Cheers Luis! 😁👍
That’s fine I talk to myself all the time! 🤣👍
Stay free.
@Ben Allmark what on earth are you talking about man?
@@theguitaristas sorry Colin. Just venting about being suspended or kicked off social media platforms for speaking from the heart. I’ll erase it.
@@benallmark9671 😆No worries!
Thanks!
Well thats their tribute line. Their main line are their made in California and they are amazing
@@thisistimwoods I’m so out of the loop of guitars other than Fender & Gibson, these days. It’s good to know some are stiil US made;) Thanks👍
@Butler Crow I recommend you try the Fullerton G&Ls. I have two Gibsons and one Fender. My G&L s-500 USA is the one I grab the most
Looking forward to this series.
GREAT VID MT LOVED THE SOUNDS FROM THAT AXE, LOOKING FORWARDS TO THE OTHER AXES M.

Cheers Colin! ✌
Cheers Rafael, this one has already earned my respect that's for sure! 😎👍
Colin, your videos are always enjoyable.
Thanks man.
Cheers Steve!
Hardware is same on USA and Indonesia… USAs are plekt’d…
Thanks for this excellent review. You give me the envy to buy it. I will!
Thanks Tracy! 😁👍
G&L’s are excellent guitars from the Tribute series to the USA models!!
I've recently bought a G&L Doheny Tibute (Jazzmaster shape) and it plays great !
Outstanding video and series beginning! Start with the end, I love it!
😁🙏
I sometimes get a psychedelic ballroom vibe from your playing, and these pickups are great for that. They have so much presence.
😎👍
😁👍
I think that's a different shootout.... sub $400 Telecasters.... Jet, EART, Fazely, HB 👍
Nice one Colin, I’ve got a 2020 G&L Tribute ASAT in the blonde with the Cherry fingerboard, humbucker in the neck , Indonesian made , love it , it was the last of the one piece ash body , and they did come with the USA pickups, I upgraded the electronics and neck pup to a Seymour Jazz , these are GREAT. guitars man , mines a keeper at 6lb 10oz , I paid $500 for mine in 2020 , Peace ✌🏻 Colin ,
Totally agree about the “family” aspect, it is good to know. I feel that these G&L’s might be nearer to the originals than the Fender modern versions.
Always a pleasure to view your reviews Colin.
I had to cover the eyes of my les paul while I watched this episode lol...great one mate
😁👍
Mr. Mr. Fenders MFD pups are some of the fuller toned single coils imo😁
The ability to adjust each polepiece is handy👍
Getting a scooped tone is easy to achieve by just making the outside polepieces higher than inside.
Then reverse on the other pup for mid boost.
When combined in pup selector middle position the guitar is balanced.
Great score there Colin 😉👍
😎👍❤🖖
Love Brother
Cheers Richard, that's some serious tone-sculpting information there mate thanks for that! 😎👍👍
Great show as ever fella, I just bought a PRS Standard 24/08 in Tobacco burst from Andertons for £499 in the Sale, seriously Get one before their gone, trust me bruv.
Been dodging PRS for some unknown reason, but wish I’d got one years ago, best thing on the fleet, it’s not even close, everything about it is better, Resonance, Build, feel, sound
Andertons have also got a PRS SE Hollowbody reduced from £999 to £579 with a hardcase! and I’m gonna grab 1 on the basis of how good the 24/08 is… (2023s budgets blown) That Mr Smith bloke is onto something 😂😉
I keep resisting the PRS... not a fan of the shapes, the colours, or the birds and I am secretly afraid I might like it! 🤨
I’ll send you mine to review if you don’t wanna pull the trigger geezer just say the word Col 👊
@@neoquest2012 😎👍
That first chord you played instantly said “tele” to me. Lots of punch and rich tone.
Just moded mine with Fralin specials, new nut, Emerson wiring harness, new bridge….I love it
Great thing that separates this import line from the import lines of other guitar makes is that the pickups in a G&L Tribute are US-made
This is the first video of yours I’ve come across and I absolutely LOVE your style! I’m also shopping for a Tele-style guitar and have been curious about G&L. I think I will watch your Tele comparison video next!
Cheers glad you found us! 😁👍
Colin, you are simply the best!
Keep it up buddy. Always nicely done, enjoyable, and much appreciated. 👏 Take care
Your waffling is first class. Keep it going.
Bought the semi hollow version of this with a humbucker in the neck.this review is a spot on they are quality guitars in this price point
I've got a Fallout Tribute too and it is really good!
Try the ASAT special next ! It’s also amazing !
I’m excited to see the episode about the Olive Green Classic Vibe. I’ve had my eye on that for a few weeks. Love the color
Thanks Colin for the nice reviews. These G&L guitars are really very good. You should definitively also incorporate the G&L Tribute ASAT Special into the overal comparison. That one might surprise you 😊
Totally agree about the tribute ASAT special ,love mine . So come on Colin give one the look over 🎸🎸
I want one of those so bad, but I just got a Squier Classic Vibe, so no new Tele-looking guitars for a while.
Cheers Morton! 😎👍
I'd love to go back - it was kind of a fun job (and at least it's sort of entertainment industry related. as I may have mentioned to ya before, I'm a former child actor and then a childish actor in my adult life).
yeah, Dave and John Jr are the bigwigs at the company (and they also own BBE). the nuts are Tusq if I recall correctly
on my second day working there, John Sr was thrown a birthday bash. so, the company secretary came into the shop in the back where I was and gave me a balloon!!! no lie, too! a little embarrassing that the "new kid in school" was getting special treatment.
Cheers Paul! 😁👍
It's going to be a showdown!
Good morning Sir! Morning? Huh.🤔 'really appreciate your content and delivery style.
'Been playing and repairing guitars since '56. I think I know guitars and tone, however I'm probably dilutional.😁
Anyway, I should say the main reason I am here is the infectious speech from the UK to the USA! I find it perfectly enjoyable that we are corrupted this way!
No, I appreciate your delivery as straight forward and honest. Great qualities that I hope we are infected with as well..... Thank You Sir! (Yes it's a promotion to Sir.)!
Cheers John, thanks for the support and kind words it’s appreciated! 😁👍
Great video again Colin. Our Friday fix!
How about a Levinson Blade Tele? I've seen one up for sale in a shop in Gainsborough
Aren't they a bit more than £500? 🙃
I liked this guitar, one thing that surprised me was the response of the pickups, a great attack... 👏👏👏👏
Hi colin!
Playing that guitar you had a smile on your face that must be a good guitar.
Great video as always,
Thanks 👍👌🙂
Great vid mate. I've had my eye on one of these for sometime
Excellent job with your review sir, very appreciated, I just bought one of these
Another great review! I'm thinking about getting a Telecaster for some reason, so I'm quite happy we're on the same wavelength 😆
Cheers Alan, I don’t think we’ve had any inside info yet… I’m looking forward to comparing the sound with others! 😎👍
😁👍
I'm mainly a Les Paul/PRS guy so maybe that's why I love the thickness of the sound of this axe compared to a standard Tele. Now I must buy one. Thanks for helping me spend my money!
😆👍
Gl asat deluxe bluesboy....love it
Wow what a coincidence, I just bought a Black Tele with a maple fretboard Monday.
I like the fender telecaster in my opinion from the 1950s to the 1960s awesome video have a good weekend
I have a ASAT tribute semi-hollow bluesboy. The bridge pickup was fine. The neck pickup was woeful. So new pots and a replacement Alnico 2 humbucker.
You can adjust the individual pole pieces with Allen wrench to fine tune the tone . Great video mate !
Another great informative show 👍 and just to say you won a pie and a pint but you're gonna have to come to the toon to pick up your prize.
Nice video! It makes me want a G&L. Unfortunately I already have six or seven (I lose count) Tele-type guitars so it would be hard to justify. Now if it had a humbucker in the neck position, I might be able to rationalize another purchase...
I think they do one! 🤣👍
I had the G&L ASAT Classic Tribute Bluesboy, humbucker in the neck tele. But recently traded it in on the same model only Fullerton USA Deluxe. Considerably more $, but well worth it. The difference is night and day.
