It is quite the story indeed, an entire universe where all have a place, be it in the Emperor's light of the Dark gods hold. For this is the 40th millennium and there is only War!!!

Is anyone ever thinking about what secrets he learned in his 60 million years of exploring the greater universe? He left on a planet sized vessel that had ungodly technology inside it, it would be silly to think that he didn't pick up a thing or two in all those countless eons. He could have a Dyson sphere sized ship full of intergalactic technology by now. He could have encountered other c'tan free roaming the universe or other such entities possibly even beyond that. He's the only known entity to have explored the greater universe and to have returned from such a journey. The only question is how far did he actually go in that time? Even if you give a century a piece of travel to the next galaxy he would be somewhere in the high hundreds of thousands of galaxies explored in that time. Even if he took 10 thousand years to explore each one he still would have covered thousands by now. Imagine the knowledge and technology of 10 thousand galaxies that might be just as if not more advanced than ours. That sounds about right, taking a few thousand years to fully explore each one. Who knows, the Tyranids might just be the tip of a very small iceberg. He either found a universe full of Tyranids or something much worse that made that threat less compelling prompting his search for greater knowledge and technology. Let's face it, if he saw them as that great a threat he would have figured it out much faster than 60 million years. It's important to remember that all of Warhammer so far is all taking place in one galaxy and we have only heard the smallest mentions of what lies beyond. The Tyranids are but the first extra galactic entities that we are made aware of. One thing is for sure though, The Silent King has knowledge that no other being in our galaxy has had before. Maybe he encountered "The Old Ones" in his passage and brought them along back with him. He could be storing them like Trazen in a museum which would be a feat even Trazen couldn't match. He could have bonkers levels of technology by now and the old ones could be among the lesser beings in his collection. He never needed to grow from increase in population but the sheer amount of knowledge he has acquired probably would require more room at least. He might be the most advanced being in the cosmos at this point, encountering countless numbers of other God emperors and their galaxies warp spawns of emotional aspect chaos beings. For all we know he already has the answers to save the galaxy and needs humanity to do it, we do know that the astartes are considered the perfect candidates for biotransference of their minds into a soul wielding copy of what they once were. That implies that a strong vessel is required to perform such a feat, I would imagine that a custodies or even a primarch would be even more so. The god emperor himself, being half alive and half dead, caught in a state of limbo that he cannot leave lest the entire empire crumble... Well the silent king has experience in this arena and could provide the answer to him for the price of an alliance. The Emperor only saw xenos as a threat to his empire during the expansion and they were of lesser advancement and knowledge, so maybe he makes an exception for more advanced beings. But a being that could possibly solve the greatest problems imaginable I'm sure he wouldn't say no. I wonder what beings could possibly have the technology to put the power of a god into a physical body, The Silent King may have even seen this being done before in his travels. It's also possible he just accelerated for 60 million years and basically time traveled due to relativity and accomplished nothing, but he still would have covered 60 million light years of travels, even just data collection that's still probably 10 galaxies worth of information. My guess is that he has something else that nobody else could ever offer regardless.
Not sure what it is, but the background music starting at 30 minutes and 15 seconds has an incredibly powerful vibe, I remember it from earlier Necron videos too, and I can't get enough of it for some reason when combined with your narration. :D
After reading "The Twice Dead King: Ruin" I'm 100 percent sure that the biotransferrence did not completely destroy the souls of the necrons. Their souls are like droplets of tea in a discarded McDonald's cup, mostly gone but with precious bits left.
I think that's what it was supposed to be. Like their sould were eaten away except for the bare minimum to keep them functioning. If they were to somehow transfer them back into a living body, they'd probably just be a vegitable. At least the common people (warriors) were. The higher up you go in the hierarchy, the more of a soul/sentience they have left. It also make me wonder if they could take a bunch of humans or other sentiant race and put them through the same process for more warriors
@@YourBonesInMyDresserI remember back in the day McDonald's tea was pretty bomb, I'm not sure about these days though, it's probably the same blend Lipton sweet tea my restaurant uses. It lost something along the way and I only wish I could describe what that something was.
Plus they did have the c'tan shards who consumed their souls so it's possible maybe some remnant latched on to the few Necrons that have the honor of using that resource. They are also the ones who are most likely to retain what was left of themselves in almost every other way so it makes sense that they might have some semblance of a soul. Who knows what the silent king even is after 60 million years of being active and exploring the universe. He might not only have regained his soul but become a god of his own right in levels of soul power. 60 million years is a very long time for such a being to remain actively looking for a cure to his kinds most regrettable misfortune. The knowledge he attained must be incomprehensibly vast and incredibly powerful. Odds are he encountered vastly older and more advanced beings along the way. I refuse to believe he spent the whole time just cruising the void recording nothing, observing nothing. We know what other Necrons have done with just a fraction of the time he had on his hands with just one galaxy at their disposal. Even Trazen has a 50 plus million years of catch-up to do. None but the Necrons he took with him have been awakened the entire time and TSK probably kept his lesser servants in stasis most of the time. I really hope they don't nerf the significance of this too much, maybe a little but it has to be tactfully done.
The Silent King should not be underestimated by the forces of the Imperium for it was he that led his people to face the Gods in the War in Heaven, and with his return the entire Necron race may pose the singular threat to all of the Galaxy.
The Great Devourer have more angry bees than there’s solid matter atoms in the entire galaxy…read that again. This is exactly why he, or anyone else actually, don’t have to worry about the Nids. GW have to just keep d!cking around with them because should it, the whole thing, show up…there’s nothing anyone could do to fight it. Necrons wouldn’t fight it as such, they would just go back to sleep and hit the snooze button until it left. Even though it’s canon that Nids can actually consume the necrodermis, enough of them would survive to rule the barren wasteland we call The Milky Way. That’s why GW will never go full Nidtard, it would be the end of Warhammer 40K 🤷🏼♂️
@@ninjasquirrels is that how it's written in the lore ? Cuz I'm sure some ctan shards could body a couple of hive fleets without getting harmed only for Kato sicacrius or any other marine to come body them right after lol
@@Happyface714 according to the ordo xenos the proverbial Great Devourer have consumed “hundreds maybe thousands” of galaxies according to maths…not sure exactly how they estimated it but it is what it is. The Necron threat is currently the ONLY threat, again - the way GW just blabbered on with the Nids, they never actually really THOUGHT about it. If you go by lore and what we know of the universe in the real world today…yeah no effing way ANYONE or ANYTHING short of Thanos and his glove can save us. If they actually make it to the Milky Way, even if we all became best friends with every sentient being in the entire game…it would still be millions or even billions of bees for every swinging d!ck alive. 🤷🏼♂️ oops?
Great story and the Necrons are so scary thinking that a Warrior was a base form who had no combat experience and the Immortals, Wraiths, Deathmarks, and Destroyers are the real base Infantry of the species. The warriors of the Void Dragon could only be damaged by Old Ones or weapons made by the Eldar Smith Gods weapons. So powerful and terrifying.
Glad to see a continuation of your Necron series. Always some of my favorite content. Aswell the Silent king has long been a subject of my fascination, so I must thank you for granting me this video. Keep up the great work Balders!
Over the last three days, I have indulged myself re-listening to the Song of the Silent King. As always, Lord Baldermort, your voice and its portrayals are a thing of wonder. They are also an inspiration. Thank you. Again.
Amazing video as always! Some very minor things at the end, the song of oblivion is only city sized and blew up a moon rather than full planet, but world engines are a very real thing used by the necrons which use gauss projectors to cleanse an entire planet at once and are planet sized themselves
I believe it was once described as ‘planetoid size’ I think maybe in the 5th edition codex but can’t quite recall. In the 9th however it certainly changed to city size which is interesting, as that could mean anything from hive city size to planet-wide necron complex size 😅
I have watched you're lore videos for a very long time and I would like to say thank you. Your story telling skills are legendary and my absolute favorite things to...absorb so to speak in the rarefied moments of peace in an otherwise insane world of GRINDING! Thanks for your GRINDING Brother!!! The Emperor protects!
The Word Bearers champion drew his sword. "Fear me, I fight with the power of The Dark Gods." The Silent King looked down at him with contempt. "Fear me, I am the slayer of Gods."
I am tired. And tomorrow, long before first light, I shall have awoken and went to work. And then He appeared, in all His splendor. Lord Baldermort. I bowed. And I knew this was right and proper; how it always should have been. ;-) Absolutely wonderful work my wordsmith!
Alas, it’s people like me, in light entertainment, who now to you. You make the world go round brother. All I do is sing little lullabies so you can rest.
If the Silent King successfully achieves the Biotransference for his people, it could potentially lead to the Dynasty's demise. It could reignite the ambitions of his former rivals, leading to civilwar. Also, if the Necrontier were human in appearance, prior to becoming machines, the Imperium could try to subjigate them back into humanity's empire, or both join forces to finish off all Xenos races, and Chaos. Plenty of possibilities, indeed.
More great content! My theory for the Silent King is that he probably views humanity as pawns in the larger fight against the Tyranids and to a lesser extent Chaos. He returned after seeing what was presumably the main mass of the Tyranids coming towards the galaxy and weighing his options, the Imperium intact can serve as a meatshield to blunt the incoming tsunami while at the same time keeping the Chaos forces mostly at bay. Traszyn didnt help out of goodwill after all. That and probably the Emperor himself, a type of being unseen since the Old Ones.
The little endorphin hit you get as grim dark murder bots are taking over the granola isle in one ear as Taylor Swift starts to bleed in the other ear from the groceries PA and then reality snaps back into focus is great. Thanks Baldermort for taking me worlds away from here.
Well-spoken, good Servo-Skull! Your opening narration gave feeling to the now-apathetic revenants of metal. You have captured much of what makes the Necrons so suited to the grim darkness: their tragedy of loss and utter alienation to the things of life that molded their minds before the furnaces molded them into skeletal undying armatures; seared and severed from life but barred from its conclusion. I mourned for the hero of your story because I know the same sort of peace that defied his former wracked body comes over me when I am with my own beloved. It is such a vibrant peace, a peace not of silence and repression but one of deliberate harmony. To know that peace and love been severed and mangled by such violence as unwilling biotransference would provoke an ever-burning wrath within me. I do not know if it will be so but I hope our hero finds vengeance.
To bow before the greatest traitor of my species, and he who personally brought me into undying pantomime. I’d want to defy and at most seek even retribution. If only to chip his armor and crumble to dust in the process. Otherwise a very grim dark and a true to setting story. Captivating and intriguing.
Oh he did want that. Yet, when in the presence of the king? He had no choice. He was forced to kneel by the king due to what I mention in the actual lore section.
@@Baldermort posted before finishing. I had assume the control protocols must be in play. Seems like the Silent King has gotten over his “shame” in the last couple millennia.
Brilliant brother Baldermort! The Necrons chill me more than any other race, remorseless and without conscience , hate, love, humanity (whatever that is these worrying days). As always you bring a mote of joy into the eye of your fans. Nice one 💀👍🇬🇧
Brother man. You’ve set a new bar for any and all warhammer lore. You paint such a vivid picture, your voice seemed to be meant for narration. I always look forward to your videos. Keep up the great work my dude.
If Baldy gets tired of doing 40K he could hop over to SCP. They are both pretty grimdark. With lots of Lovecraftian influence. And they have the King In Red and the Hanged King who are pretty damned terrifying. Maybe more so than the Nids or the Necrons. Or even a return of the Enslavers. (I think The Exploring Series is currently the best with SCP lore)
I wonder if the Silent King has pondered on the idea that the price tag for the return of his empire might be as high as it was for the creation of his empire. Given how things go in 40K that is a significant possibility.
Came here expecting a regurgitated lore video with AI reading the wiki for necrons. Came out with a brilliantly written and narrated Necron short story, bravo! 👏
Such an amazing story! Would love for this one to continue. Mrs B has such skill with the soundtracks she picks, the musical background always manages to not only compliment your voice but the story as well. You make an awesome team. I always look forward to seeing your videos 👌🏽
Another brilliant vid Mr B. The Silent King is a wily fox and biding his time to make use of the Imperium and it's forces against the Tyranids I reckon. As always greetings from Kilkenny.
One thing you dont ever see much or any of, is a Necron starship Id be interested to see what Szarek's ship looks like or any of their big interstellar ships.
That was awesome! The opening! Omg I'm gonna have to find the rest of that or where it's from And the silent king himself went from "I promise the Galaxy will hear your screams!" To "eh, maybe this guy ain't that bad"
The silent king is one of the creepiest and scariest characters in 40k. Also great narrative intro, really captured the sadness and loss of the necrons.
And on this first day of the week I am gifted with a video on my favorite xenos races alas I fear I may struggle to watch mush more then this as I fly into the bush tomorrow for work.
I'm ridiculously invested in the Necron Saga, constantly thinking about possible narratives; both past, present and future. Up until this point, when I'm watching this video for the second time, I've been certain that a civil war is a'brewin', one between Szarekh and Imotekh. I haven't abandoned that idea of course; to me it's inevitable, but now I'm also contemplating Orikan. I don't want to spoil anything for those who are yet to read "The Infinite and the Divine" so I'll be as vague as I can, but basically I'm thinking about his aspirations as well as what he actually managed to do. Not to mention the fact that he warned everyone about the C'tan and biotransference. Also, even though I get Szesarekh's wish to reverse the biotransference, I still think Necrons in their current form has the best chance of defeating, or at least seriously annoy the Tyranids. All this is of course just my thoughts, and due to the fact that I'm somewhat new to 40K (compared to many fans at least; my bf introduced me back in -16), there's still a lot of lore I'm not familiar with.
We all know if plot armor wasn't a thing nothing can stop the Necro's. I mean they literally have a live 3D map of the Milky Way they can just extinguish stars and planets with a flick of their metal fingers.
As somebody who adores the lore and plays The Szarekhan Dynasty on tabletop; I firmly believe The Necrons are the single biggest threat in the galaxy even more so than Chaos
I like this intro to the character. Great seen setter. About 3/4 thru I thought it would've been interesting to have a seen where He was telling this tale to a captured human or marine before an interrogation or something.
It stated that. And yet… new lore states that they see the king and become slaves again It’s the command protocols. Must be. He just needs to be close to reinforce them it seems.
Finally getting around to assembling the True Lord of the Necrons and this is available! Righteous. Also I have Dante sitting here watching me assemble Szarekh
this is one of the greatest videos of all time, sadly the silent king so relatable to myself since passing 40. I am particularly impressed by the 2 lovers fighting against the forced bio-transference. For those unloved it would not be such a bad fate. Amazing sci-fi they should make an old style d&g rpg about a necron tomb world! i would buy that for a dollar
Perhaps the most horrific thing in that story was the wife becoming a Flayed One... Blood for the Blood God! Skulls for the Skull Thrown! Farts for the Inquisition! Comments for the Algorithm!
just poking my head in again, and begging for a video on the imperial guard regiment, the maccabian janissaries (my favorite aesthetically, but wish there was more eyes and lore (fan made or otherwise) with them). that aside, good video as usual here :)
I'm going with the theory that the Tau's evolution was being guided by Szarak to be the new vessels. They're both technologically advanced and have small souls as not to be affected by the warp as much as other races.
@@Baldermort yeah I was listening to your avatar of Khaine video and how he fought the eldar. Things just don't add up to what happened and where the enslavers came from. I really hope GW goes big on the war in heaven and explains everything, and that it's not a disappointment
@@Baldermort I've been playing Age of War and don't look back. I heard death Gaurd is gonna get needed in 10th. Tyrannosaurus might get buffed. Give me Fulgrim, and EC with all the crazy shit. Tzeentch and Magnus are squishy
I'd play blood angels if I go astartes, and put Dante as Hq. Genestealer cult peaked my interest. I just want Legion of The Damned as it's own chapter with a full codex.

The necrons may be the ONLY race that have a ghost of a chance at defeating the threat of the Tyranids.
The Silent King should not be underestimated by the forces of the Imperium for it was he that led his people to face the Gods in the War in Heaven, and with his return the entire Necron race may pose the singular threat to all of the Galaxy.
Curious to see how he'll curve stomp the Tyranids
@@Happyface714 Matt Ward giveth Matt Ward taketh away
The recurring music you use for these videos is just spot on perfect.
🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
@@luciferdiva3370 White dwarf described it as planetoid size, was changed into city sized in 9th edition.
ALL HAIL TO THE INFINITE EMPIRE
I have watched you're lore videos for a very long time and I would like to say thank you. Your story telling skills are legendary and my absolute favorite things to...absorb so to speak in the rarefied moments of peace in an otherwise insane world of GRINDING! Thanks for your GRINDING Brother!!! The Emperor protects!
Thank you brother. Do grind! But don’t kill yourself. You are worth more than that. :).
Have a fantastic week brother.
*your. Your videos. You're means "you are"
Thanks for the heads up my grammar isn't the best...being that I barely have 6th grade education I could probably do worse if given a chance.
The Word Bearers champion drew his sword. "Fear me, I fight with the power of The Dark Gods."
The Silent King looked down at him with contempt. "Fear me, I am the slayer of Gods."
Where's the quote from?
@@davebowman9000 no where, this edgelord thinks silent king would speak to a word bearer

It was from a narrative game at a local store.
@@gavinboyer4634 Badass line!
@@davebowman9000 Nah, would you even consider talking to the ant? Silent King would be probably remain freaking SILENT and just squash that bug.
Me: No time for fun.
*New Baldermort video drops
Me: “Cancel all my calls today please”.
He possibly has sympathy toward humanity. Considering they are so similar.
I could listen to you for hours Baldermort, and today is that day
My single neuron firing every time I get the alert for more Baldermort content
Your fan fiction work always makes my day.
Thank you father Baldermort for another enjoyable story!
Beautifully done as always Baldy
Appreciate your ongoing work exploring and explaining the amazing universe that is 40k
What a treasure trove of amazing Necron artwork! Much of this Ive not seen anywhere before!
Just check the internet. Soooo much good art out there for Necrons. Glorious. (Still not enough, but I always say that) :)
Necrons being made human by tragic love and loss, yep it’s definitely a baldermort video, beyond excellent my good ghoul
Awesome lore, somehow you manage to weave in a love story to the Necrons! Amazing!
I was having a long day, this made it better. Thank you so much, sir.

In time the Silent King may yet meet The Lion...imagine that conversation!
Brilliant brother Baldermort! The Necrons chill me more than any other race, remorseless and without conscience , hate, love, humanity (whatever that is these worrying days). As always you bring a mote of joy into the eye of your fans. Nice one 💀👍🇬🇧
That story was beautifully tragic. I love your work
Brother man.
You’ve set a new bar for any and all warhammer lore.
You paint such a vivid picture, your voice seemed to be meant for narration.
I always look forward to your videos.
Keep up the great work my dude.
Yes finally Necrons your best work! Thank you servo skull Baldermort!
Speaking of ominously named Kings, could we get a video on the King in Yellow?
If Baldy gets tired of doing 40K he could hop over to SCP. They are both pretty grimdark. With lots of Lovecraftian influence.
And they have the King In Red and the Hanged King who are pretty damned terrifying. Maybe more so than the Nids or the Necrons. Or even a return of the Enslavers. (I think The Exploring Series is currently the best with SCP lore)
@@Wastelandman7000I think op means the King in Yellow of 40k, not the SCP...
“This Galaxy once belonged to us, and us alone! And it shall be ours again! All shall bow down to the Infinite Empire!”

I wonder if the Silent King has pondered on the idea that the price tag for the return of his empire might be as high as it was for the creation of his empire. Given how things go in 40K that is a significant possibility.
Can't wait to find out how things develop in the 40k Universe! Such an awesome story and analysis!
Came here expecting a regurgitated lore video with AI reading the wiki for necrons.
Came out with a brilliantly written and narrated Necron short story, bravo! 👏
Oh yes this is gonna be great. Your other videos on the Silent King are some of my favorites already.
Another awesome narrative Good Sir! Well Done!
Thanks brother Sulea. Always. :)
Such an amazing story! Would love for this one to continue. Mrs B has such skill with the soundtracks she picks, the musical background always manages to not only compliment your voice but the story as well. You make an awesome team. I always look forward to seeing your videos 👌🏽
Right as my trainride begins the wonderful bald man blesses me.

Another brilliant vid Mr B. The Silent King is a wily fox and biding his time to make use of the Imperium and it's forces against the Tyranids I reckon. As always greetings from Kilkenny.

Sweet more Necron lore it’s been a while!
One thing you dont ever see much or any of, is a Necron starship Id be interested to see what Szarek's ship looks like or any of their big interstellar ships.

And on this first day of the week I am gifted with a video on my favorite xenos races alas I fear I may struggle to watch mush more then this as I fly into the bush tomorrow for work.
I Have Waited For This One,
For So LONG!!!
I Bow Down Master ❣️❣️❣️
I am but a simple man, I see a Baldermort notification. I click it.
🙏🏻🤣🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
I think the Silent King is locked away in the British Museum.
Although a little off-topic, I’d love to rep some “Let Us Lean on the Existing Wisdom” Merchandise!
Dinosaurs but Halloween as heck.
This video is overlord approved! 💀💚
This hurt. This is one of your best but damn sir.Im about to cry for necrons.
I like this intro to the character. Great seen setter.
About 3/4 thru I thought it would've been interesting to have a seen where He was telling this tale to a captured human or marine before an interrogation or something.
Beautifully done.
I was under the impression that the choice to remove the command protocols for all Necrons was irreversible. Was it not?
It stated that. And yet… new lore states that they see the king and become slaves again
It’s the command protocols. Must be.
He just needs to be close to reinforce them it seems.
Finally getting around to assembling the True Lord of the Necrons and this is available! Righteous. Also I have Dante sitting here watching me assemble Szarekh
BL should get you on their Audiobooks Brother Balders as you literally gave me goosebumps in that initial story bit there Squire!
this is one of the greatest videos of all time, sadly the silent king so relatable to myself since passing 40.

I'm going with the theory that the Tau's evolution was being guided by Szarak to be the new vessels. They're both technologically advanced and have small souls as not to be affected by the warp as much as other races.
Don't forget about them mindlessly following their leaders, not too dissimilar to the Necrontyr society of old.
Love it... 😍
Blackstone shards taken into the warp? And fired at the 4... I wonder...
The Necrons genetically altered the orcs and used them as a weapon to destabilize the old ones. That's why the eldar ended up fighting them
Nice head cannon. Would explain a lot if it were true. But I find no evidence for that. :)
@@Baldermort yeah I was listening to your avatar of Khaine video and how he fought the eldar. Things just don't add up to what happened and where the enslavers came from. I really hope GW goes big on the war in heaven and explains everything, and that it's not a disappointment
