It was an honor to have my nails done for the first time ever by someone else and to have it be Suzie fantastic. Thank you for teaching Suzie. I got so many compliments on my nails.
As someone with crooked NAILS, this is great advice. Over the years I've learned to adjust the crooked nails and build them out to hide any unevenness. If I were to remove my manicure my nailbeds would be VERY awkwardly shaped, with some nail beds sinking farther into the finger on one side of the nail than the other, or beds flattened by excessive handwriting.
I have learned so much from your videos. At first I went to get my nails done, but they always told me since I have kinda tiny hands that my nails were little and difficult to work with. If I asked for nail art, oh my!😂 in the end I decided to slowly learn to do my nails myself and being a creative, I draw a lot, I had so much fun. I do indeed have a bit of a crooked middle finger because of how long I spent using pencils, brushes etc etc. These lessons are so interesting ❤ Love from Italy 🇮🇹
I understand- my fingers are on the smaller side but look big on camera And it’s ok when fingers become more crooked overtime it’s completely normal, I’m in the same boat
I've been told the opposite. When I used to get my nails done at the salon, my nail tech loved doing my nails bc they were 'small'. She sd they shaped easily. Now I've learned to do my own sets, mainly bc it's pricey, but also cuz I love doing nails. I kp contemplating on getting licensed, but idk ha, 😅😅! Smtimes I feel like I'm too old to go bk to school, BUT I know I know - I am not. I always hv ppl asking me to do their nails but don't bc I'm not licensed. Suzie.... I just luv your client, he's so personable. Luv his hands, w nails even prettier. You shld have him on more often 😉😉😊😊
Ooh I so appreciate Susie saying she hasn’t really seen a crooked nail (as opposed to a crooked finger). I have an incredibly crooked middle nail and figuring out how to get a nail set that lasts instead of lifting on this one nail is how I got into nail diy. I haven’t found a studio that could work with me and think critically about the different structural challenges faced by this one nail.
Hmmmm I’ve never met a hand I couldn’t create a server f nails on. Please email me at hello@nailcareer.com I’d like to help Recall this convo so I have reference
I have the same problem, it’s my pinky…. It’s almost like one side of the nail bed grows faster then the other side…. If I’m not careful with keeping it short the mail will grow slightly sideways and run into my ring finger. 🤷🏻♀️ I’ve tried everything personally but it always seems to pop or lift.
I think it would've been helpful to have a side-by-side pic of them to really compare the difference. But, very interesting 🤔 😏 I have worn my nails more square until just recently. I've decided to check out the more "almond" shape without such a pointy tip... I'm liking it so far 😊
I have a couple of crooked fingers and I learned to do my own nails. And with practice I found out the way to do my crooked nails the way I feel happy with them. And I do square, love it. Thank you for this video Susie and Angel for such beautiful nails❤️
Both my pinky fingers are like his crooked ring finger, mine has always been like this. And I also do it like you showed us here, going with the flow of the finger 😊 For me it looks weird if I do it the other way, like the first method you showed us 🙈 Great video Suzie and Angel! 🥰❤
First time I've ever seen someone do a tuto on this problem, so thank you Suzi! I was born with twisted fingers and toes, so have crooked middle fingers where just the top digits points away from my thumb. My index fingers are also twisted at the top digit (like they've rolled over towards the middle finger) and my ring fingers have a crooked nail bed as well as being twisted in towards the middle! Little fingers are straight, but the nail grows twisted to the outer edge as it gets longer. My thumbs, not to be outdone, have nail beds that grow sloping inwards at about 80 degrees! I've had a nightmare over the years trying to get a decent set of nails done, as the nail techs can't seem to work around my wonky fingers. In the end I did some training online for acrylics and gels (and watched a LOT of your videos) and I've been doing my own now about 10+ years. The best way I've found to look at my nails to gauge where they need to go, is to hold my hand up with palm out, and turn it inwards 90 degrees, so thumbs point down to the floor. I balance the twisted nails by sculpting extra product on the short side, filing back on the twisted side, and create a high C curve looking down the barrel of the nail so it's just offset with the knuckle. This way they appear aesthetically straight to other people (when extending my hand paying for things for example) With the nail beds that grow crooked (or the crooked middle finger) I line up from the second joint and again use the high C curve following that line. I use computers for my job, so can't go too long, about 1-1.5cm from the smile line, but I use a slight coffin shape as the sides are filed on angles anyway. Just sharing my experience if it helps anyone?? PS nice to "meet" you Angel.. off to have a snoop at your channel.. :)
Omg I have the same issue with the same finger. Thanks Susie for showing me this video. Oh and the baby bites work great 😃 I love them .I have small hands its frustrating when you're trying to use a regular size nail drill bit. This is so much better.
Happy wonderful Sunday Susie thank you for giving some Great content. 💯‼️🆒👌🏼🥰 I hope that you'll do more different types of crooked nails for different finger shapes. Somewhere in have different type where they're crooked right at the nail bed itself as opposed to the whole finger 🤔😉🥰🆒 then you have some that don't have that much of a nail bed and they've been a nail biter it's hard to keep nails on.😢 That's what I've seen in the salons
I love your sweet patient voice. Some voices irritate me a bit and I loose interest in what is being taught to me because I'm older now and my patience is a bit worn unfortunately, however you are just blessed with the gift of patience and grace. ❤
Another great video Suzie. Please tell Angel his hands are gorgeous - the shape and nail bed is perfect❤❤. I have a crooked nail on my dominant hand which has been a continual learning process for me 😂😂
Perfect perfect video each and every time Susie love it love it love it thank you for the good tips and tricks of how to do a crooked nail please have Angel back on your UA-cam channel more
I've never broken anything, yet was lucky enough to be born with a crooked finger and a crooked nail on the finger next to it lol. Thanks for the tips!
I enjoyed this video. I have an arthritic knuckle on my index finger, but it bends outwards towards the thumb, so I straighten the nail with the other fingers as much as can because otherwise it really points out to nowhere, especially when they are longer.
Most of my clients want a tip vs a form that have crooked fingers...I place the tip with the top of hand facing me...and I go with the direction of the nail not the finger...💅🏼 Nice demo thanx😊
Good video! My right hand ring finger is straight but my nail is crooked. I have to be very careful when I place a form on it to make sure it’s straight. Both hands my pointer finger nails grow down pretty strongly so I’m constantly lifting them.
@@beautyangelllc Yeah its a really good topic. I am sure plenty of people have a crooked finger due to incidents or age. So its good to know these things if you are simply interested or you want to go into a career of doing nails.
I really like this video! Thank you so much! For me if it was my hand I would just prefer for them to go with the direction of the nail. On my middle finger on my left hand the nail bed looks like it is twisting towards my pinky and then both of my index fingers the nail beds kind of look like they're slightly twisted toward my pinkies, as well. I just prefer them to follow the nail bed. I know my nail beds are crooked, but it doesn't bother me.
@5:50 - I really love the look of square nails. But i have short stubby fingers so square nails don't suit my finger type. I can get away with it if i wear them super short natural length, which i often do on my right hand. But even then, i soften and round off the edges and it compliments my finger type more than the harder square. I do like the almond for long nails though on my left hand. Nothing snags and doesn't catch on anything due to the rounded off tip. I prefer the second nail you did. I, too have crooked ring fingers on both hands. Not as badly as this person. I also have arched "hooked" nails on my index fingers that require constant correcting as they grow out. But i grumble every time i do my nails about my crooked nails and just try to ignore them.
So I've worked as a hair stylist for 45 years. Consequently, the 1st knuckles on my pointer & middle fingers are arthritic. So it's not just broken fingers that present a problem. The nail tech who works with me has a lot of older women with arthritic fingers.
Hi Suzie! My nails grow crooked! I love having my natural nails long and have been using gel polish for a long time. I have never figured out how to shape my nail when it starts to grow with a curve in it. Its hard figuring out how to balance it without taking too much off of the natural nail. Any tips? Thanks!!
Does your preference change depending on the finger that’s crooked and which way it bends? For example, his ring finger bends toward the middle so going with the flow makes a nice V, but what if it bent the other way? Or if the middle finger has a strong bend? I have crooked middle fingers and crooked thumb nails, so it’s a challenge getting my nails to look straight. I’ve kinda just accepted them for what they are. 😅
I have a crooked nail - both of my middle fingers; must be a genetic thing… I stopped getting my nails done because the techs wouldn’t even try to correct it; but now with your help I’m going to give it a shot on my own.
I’ve got the same problem with the same finger on the same hand but mines broken at the second knuckle and putting tips on or forms it always looks off so thank you Susie for this video. Also broken finger hurts like hell 😂luckily I’m right handed so I could still do everything when I broke it at the time tho it felt like my arm was broken also it wasn’t, but my god it killed
I have both a crooked finger and crooked nail for both index fingers. This has ALWAYS been a significant challenge for me. My question would be for a fill, what would you do for a crooked nail to keep it as symmetrical as possible? That's my biggest problem. I can build the nail beautifully and to my liking, but after about the second fill, the nail is basically going sideways to the point where the sidewall is almost to the middle. It drives me absolutely nuts, so I end up just doing an entirely new nail. And it's my index fingers, so of course it's one that needs the most strength and stability to keep from breaking off. When I used to go to nail techs, it was always a battle of getting what I wanted vs what the nail tech wanted to do, so I just started doing them on my own.
Awesome...what would you do if 6 of the nails have straight hyperniciums & ski nails and 4 of them have gently curved hyperniciums with the slightest curve to the ski nails? I have a hard time settling on a filing shape since the 6 aren't the same shape as the 4.
Well, it is certainly a very detailed question which warrants a very in-depth detailed answer. Far too much for this one comment. But if you’d like to get into it, you can email me at helen@nailcareer.com. Please include this transaction so I know exactly which comment refers to.
What about a twisted finger and twisted nail rather than a bent finger. Should it just go with the natural middle of the nail or does it really matter? I always worry about the form not being level from the side edges. 😅
Square will always be my go-to. With my lifestyle and how clumsy I naturally am, I don’t think I could go pointy. I like the look of it on others, but it’s not for me. I would perhaps consider coffin though. My pinkies are crooked but I think my nails are straight.

A side by side would definitely have been helpful lololol cause I can’t see the difference. And yes Susie please do more with imperfect hands. These videos are really helpful. Thank you
I went to vietnam recently, and did my nails with acrylic... it already peeled off on the second day 😭😭 is it because i went swimming the next day? :( that set lasted me 6days
Both ways look alright to me but it's good to have the option. My nails have different shaped hyponychium on almost every finger and many have a more extreme curve on one side so the free edge never looks even and flat to me. It's so annoying!
@@beautyangelllc yeah but it's still annoying. All nail looks normal and these are slightly hiding behind my middle fingers 😄. The gel polish tends to run to that side 😐
Actually, I love customers with a little challenge like this. A good nail technician will not have an issue with it at all. They will take it on and create art.
This is why I did this video so now the customer can fully understand what’s involved. Hopefully this helps nail techs explain it to the customer - cause if they dont understand it it’s just awkward for everyone

I agree, i like Susie's technique. Looks a lot smoother to me. Thanks for the helpful tip!
I don't get false nails because my fingers are crooked! Tysm for this video. You're a lifesaver
Sometimes we need validation that are hands are pretty Suzie has said that to me since last year. Your hands are wonderfully humanly perfect.
Thank you for a great photo comparison. I have twisted fingers, and have been struggling with the enhancements looking off.

It’s ok - if it’s not something you’re experiencing then you don’t have crooked fingers and that’s super awesome
@@NailCareerEducation I liked his nails, I just couldn't work out what he was saying. Xx
I like to look like a villain lol.
Thanks for that. 😂
Can you even fix that with a tip or do I need a form for that?
You can do either - just gotta be mindful of placement
Both ways look alright to me but it's good to have the option. My nails have different shaped hyponychium on almost every finger and many have a more extreme curve on one side so the free edge never looks even and flat to me. It's so annoying!
What's with the layering? It was stressing me out lmao seems too thick
Once I filed it it’s perfect
i have a crooked nail on my pointer finger, from smashing it in a car door when i was a kid. it drives me crazy!
My pointer finger's nails are slightly twisted but not crooked 😟
Twisting is pretty normal
@@beautyangelllc yeah but it's still annoying. All nail looks normal and these are slightly hiding behind my middle fingers 😄. The gel polish tends to run to that side 😐
I see this two hours after doing my nails and dealing with two natural crooked nails. 😭 next time!
Hi Angel and Susie!!
Hi sweetie ❤️
Hello!!!! 👋🏽
I like my nails to follow my side walls. Parallel on both sides
I prefer square for my nails because other shapes don’t look good on my nails
I feel that. I don’t think square looks good on me.
The nails on both of my index fingers are crooked
All my fingers twist inward or are crooked at the knuckles lol. Natural beauty will always show through because nature is never (and always) perfect.
I wish you could show off how to do tiny nails. It’s all pinkie nails for me 😂
Watch when I do mine - they are tiny compared to most
My fingers are a nail techs nightmare. Almost all my fingers are crooked.
Actually, I love customers with a little challenge like this. A good nail technician will not have an issue with it at all. They will take it on and create art.
It doesn't matter how disgusting the finger looks like, the client must have respect and shall have the nails done with the direction of the finger.
This is why I did this video so now the customer can fully understand what’s involved. Hopefully this helps nail techs explain it to the customer - cause if they dont understand it it’s just awkward for everyone
All of my nails sit crooked on my fingers. It's Soo annoying
That’s ok - a lot of us do
I have crooked thumbnails and crooked fingers... I don't wear long fake nails because it exaggerates the crookedness of both
