Roger, thank you so much you are a star. I just had been given a v10 by my mother-in-law and she has now bought the V 11 because the V10 was having the same problem as you did. I took it all apart cleaned every crevice and still the same problem, I until I just seen your video and I changed the filter off my other V 10 onto my mother-in-laws V10, and hey presto, it worked. I have had my V10 for almost 5 years, and I clean my filter every month and still working. Once again, thank you so much. Roger👍👍👍
How very odd that you have had no problems with the filter for years! We religiously cleaned the filter - to the extent that when the problem arose, the filter was the LAST thing we thought could be the problem!
@@smacksman1 hey there roger, I guess I must be one of the lucky ones,. After reading a lot of reviews, I do see what you mean’ and me thinking they last forever lol. Sorry to hear about yours though, but thanks to you, you saved me from throwing it away because I took it all apart and cleaned it thoroughly, and still did the same thing. Just to let you know how I clean my filter! I first rinse it out, then I put Daz washing powder with cold water and wash it thoroughly. I then after rinsing it out, I put some fabric conditioner for about five minutes and quickly give it a rinse but not too much then leave it to dry for a couple of days. it smells brilliant every time I hoover. Maybe that could be the key to it, because the Daz proper cleans it out, you never know. But thank you once again.
Thanks Roger. I had the same problem with a Dyson v10 Absolute although I had two filters which it did it with - I was alternating the filters whilst one was drying. I read online that the filters (even with washing) need to be changed every 3-6months so I think the material must degrade over time & effect the suction. I bought two new filters a few months ago & problem solved…in actual fact the suction is the best it’s ever been😂
Maybe we have to look at filters as 'consumables' like the hoover bags of old? As an experiment I did punch a small 2mm hole in a non-working filter and it then worked so it is obviously a resistance issue.
Same issue after two months of use, Dyson did however send me a new one free. Anyway, Dyson vacuums are extremely sensitive. I had been using mine to pick up joint compound dust (with small attachment tool) and it quickly clogged up everything and basically ruined the filter. Even after a thorough cleaning with compressed air tool, the filter was faulty/ruined. Now If I’ve got a pile of dirt/dust, etc., I’m careful to get most of it up with a dustpan and broom first, then vacuuming remaining.
I'm pleased to have helped. As an experiment, I took an old filter that was clean but didn't work. I punched two holes in it with a 2mm screwdriver and it worked! I also found on Amazon compatible filters 20% the price of Dyson that work fine.
This was extremely helpful. This is exactly what I’m experiencing with my vacuum and I was so frustrated. Thank you for taking the time to share your problem solving wisdom with us! God bless you.
Nice bit of investigation Roger! Were you able to try compressed air on the filter? Maybe I should try one of the V-10 for a 4 fur monsters ! Cheers all the best Warren
Hi Warren. Nice to hear from you. I must admit I never touch the thing until Patricia 'breaks' it. The filter looked very clean, though a bit 'fluffy'. The rest of the Dyson was clean. That was what made me suspect the motor was thermally cutting out on max power. I mean, how many things can go wrong with a hoover - the motor runs; it sucks air!
Hi Syameera, We only use our Dyson in booster/top speed mode. I have no idea why your machine does not work in medium mode and yet works in booster mode. Very strange. Maybe contact Dyson direct?
@syameeraizzatie4703 Hi, the same problem I am facing. I also bought a new filter and it continues to pulse in the echo and med but works fine in the booster. Have you come up with a solution to the issue that you can share with me? Thank you
Got a V10 for 3 years now. Dyson make a poor product . Switched back to Miele corded, and our house is much cleaner. Dyson is nice for just little fast cleaning jobs on the fly. Not for complete houses
Thanks this was very helpful. You are the David Attenborough of vacuums sir
Thanks - ha ha!
@@smacksman1 has it broken since would you buy one now
I agree! we had exactly the same issue. Buying a new filter now. I think that Dyson could put this on their damn website. Im so sick of this machine.
