- The Dreamwall has started to finally get some interest in the wide world with people asking questions, so as I didn't really get time to do a full review when it launched here is my revisit and full opinions hopefully to answer a few questions that pop up frequently on the console...

I see your Dream Wall is the Early Access version. The GA version has a much larger touch screen, which is more useful. Also there are additional cable management options on the GA model.
That said, I've seen a lot of EA models in the field, and they are a great option. Put it in your equipment room on the wall, for people who don't want or need a rack. The built in WiFi AP is great, but you can add a couple of extra AP's if you need to as the Dream Wall has a really great PoE capacity. Only thing I don't like is having an SD Card for Protect storage. But I understand why they put SD only on this because the camera capacity is only about 6 cameras on the standard dream wall.
I think people need to be more creative with cable management, more open minded, and then the cable management would make more sense. Cable Raceways are available if needed also.
You did nail it at the end. People were concerned because it is different and they couldn't be think outside of rack mount.
By the way, redundant power supplies is more for if a PSU fails, not if power coming in fails, so the design, although not ideal, still makes sense for using this in a hotel / small business situation.
"If Ubiquiti listen to us" 👍
It's a big IF
For an SE, yes to all of the suggestion you made in this video.
For a Pro, give at least the option of built-in (or even modular) battery backup. Put “mission critical” in the name maybe.
The form factor is great for small business and just because “mission critical” is often associated with large enterprise, keeping a network up during power faults is still critical no matter what size business you have.
“Just use a UPS”. OK, but I could do that with a switch, and yet Ubiquiti offer a mission critical switch with battery backup, so there is a market for devices like that.
Going on the terrible quality the batteries in the ckg2+ had.....I dont hold out much hope for the mission criticals in a few years...so big no on fitting one in a Dreamwall IMHO
That needs a much bigger screen to be useable.
The decision making at Ubiquiti is just bonkers! The cable access should have rear access so they're completely hidden. There should be space for at least a single 2.5 or 3.5" HDD and the extra PSU really isn't needed in the vast majority of situations.
Interesting video. Thankyou!
Quick question, I’m looking to get one of these but I will be pairing it with one U7 Pro. So could you use the 2.5gb wan port as a lan port?I would be looking to plug the AP into that port if it’s possible
You can, but its not POE so you would need a 2.5Gbe POE injector
Ports are generally fully remapable, but the newer AP Require 2.5, i dont recommend going with an injector.
Not following the no need for dual p/s? P/S failure is a big reason for routers going down. Am I missing something? I do understand the desire for more HD space.
I love the POE++ since you can add flex switches down stream to support small office rooms and the like. Obviously this is a unit for smaller businesses.
Could use holes in back to hide all cables behind drywall 😢
The newer versions have that option, mine didn't as its an EA....also my walls are granite so bit of a pain
the dream wall should’ve kept the hard drive slot.
OH LOOK ITS ME !! :) ( shush, i want one )
Well if you ask the Ubiquiti Messiah really nicely he might be able to help....they wont give me anything :D
LOL, naw ill leave that stuff up to Cody. I don't think Unifi will ever send me anything.@@JimtheITguy
Can it do dual or redundant wan's?
Yes load balanced or failover
Ui nvr abilities are shite.. move away from using them for camera and NVR. SSD should be the default recording device, HD's are too slow.
