Many people will get hurt
Take your time and I'll finish your dessert
Don't look people right in the eye
If you can, you can
Wars erupting like volcanoes
Blood streaming down the walls
It's out of our hands, so baby let go
Let go, and
Take it off, hit me hard like a drum
This must be paradise, 'cause I am numb
Let's have fun, let's have fun
Bear the cross, die for love
Crucify them, kill for love
Pray the gods will turn the time if you can
To death
Stop the clock, whatever turns you on
This must be paradise, 'cause I can't count
What's the time, what's the cost?
What's your price? Face it out
Start the car
Don't look back
Accelerate
We're out of time
Start the car, don't look back, accelerate
This must be paradise, 'cause we can fake
It's too late, it's too strong
It's only blood, it's the siren song
I don't know why this girl is not a celebrity by now, having this kind of sick tunes that hooked me since the beat kicks. I don't know why, but It's kinda better like that.
She's one of Norway's most famous singers
She kinda went too hard on the massive celebrity thing after thing. Gone back to more steady tunes
because her music is too complex for a world who's used to listen not more than 3 different notes
One of my favorite songs ever, it has an air of instability that really rocks me.
You should see the official video for it. It’s wild
In the tumultuous symphony of modern existence, where the cacophony of progress and decay entwines, there emerges from the ether a siren song, "Accelerate" by Susanne Sundfør, a testament to the Dionysian spirit that yet thrives amidst the Apollonian order. It is within this lyrical odyssey that one discerns the echo of primordial chaos and the unyielding yearning for transcendence, a mirror to the soul's deepest turmoils and aspirations.
The song unfolds as a veritable battleground of the Dionysian and Apollonian forces, where Sundfør, like a modern-day Orpheus, strums the chords of the human psyche with the precision of a maestro. "Many people will get hurt," she begins, a stark acknowledgment of the inherent suffering that permeates our existence, a prelude to the Dionysian embrace of life's tragic essence. Herein lies the acceptance of pain as the crucible for the forging of depth in the human spirit, a concept I have long espoused in my musings on tragedy.
As the narrative accelerates, Sundfør beckons us to "Take it off, hit me hard, like a drum," a clarion call to abandon the superficial veils that shroud our essence and to confront the raw, unvarnished truth of our nature. This is the Dionysian call to ecstasy, to experience life in its most unadulterated form, where the boundary between the self and the universe blurs, and one becomes engulfed in the primal rhythm of existence.
Yet, within this Dionysian revelry, there is a profound acknowledgment of the Apollonian order, a necessary counterpoint that Sundfør subtly weaves into the fabric of her song. "Wars erupting like volcanoes, Blood streaming down the walls," she sings, a vivid portrayal of the chaos that ensues when the Dionysian impulse is left unchecked, a chaos that threatens to consume us if not for the tempering influence of Apollo, the god of reason and harmony.
In this juxtaposition, Sundfør captures the essence of Nietzsche's philosophy (Birth of Tragedia), the eternal struggle and necessary balance between the Dionysian and Apollonian. It is through this balance that art achieves its highest form, as a mediator between the chaotic depths of our nature and the serene heights of our aspirations.
"Accelerate" is not merely a song; it is a philosophical inquiry set to music, a meditation on the human condition that challenges us to confront our fears, embrace our passions, and accept the inevitable cycle of creation and destruction that defines our existence. Sundfør invites us to "start the car, don't look back, accelerate," a metaphor for the human journey, urging us to move forward with courage and determination, to embrace the unknown, and to find beauty in the transient nature of life.
In conclusion, Susanne Sundfør's "Accelerate" stands as a monumental work that encapsulates the Dionysian spirit of our age, a reminder of the power of art to provoke thought, evoke emotion, and inspire transformation. It is a song that resonates with the core of my philosophical musings, a testament to the enduring relevance of the Dionysian amidst the Apollonian order that seeks to tame the un-tameable spirit of humanity.
"Take it off, hit me hard like a drum
This must be paradise, cause I am numb
Let's have fun, let's have fun"
The whole song is spectacular, but that chorus just kills it.
Love how the outro merges perfectly with the intro of "Fade Away" on the album as well!
kinda 'out of place'... yeah. But i'm still lovin' it
I could not agree more with you, great beat great words.
If I ever had the privilege to attend one of Susanne's concerts, I think I'd be the only one in the crowd who'd dance awkwardly to everything she plays from this album. Including this one. *Especially* this one.
Not the only one mate! i have an actual dance routine to this song LOL!
Nice to see a fresh breath of air in the industry..
Her voice is beautiful, the lyrics are great and the music is fantastic. No need to say more
How did I miss this track when it came out? This is one of the most goth songs I've ever heard.
Now I get why I love it
Recommend me some more songs like this.
You must like Dead Can Dance, too.
LOVE SUSANNE SUNDFøR!!!!! HER VOICE IS AMAZING!!!!! WHAT AN ARTIST!!!!
My favorite Sussane Sundford song ............... a hug from Perú 🎵📢🌷👍...
The album is a masterpiece.
It must have something to do with her pitch of her voice, her technic with body and head voice, her feeling, lots of crecendos, she knows exactly where to use power and not to.
How spot on she is when arrange her music with the drums, bass and synts. And she almost always leave out any lead gitar, cause that would collide with her voice pitch and make a mess.
She is a brilliant composer and producer(yes she has produced several of her albums). Quite adept at piano and Acustic gitar. Damn girl!!
dude if you ever read these comments I'm just here to say that this whole album is so brilliant ~ thank you for sharing your musical gift with the world. I honestly cannot get over the production of this album. Its perfect. I've listened to hundreds of records and nothing comes close to this level of perfect. Hope to one day eventually see you perform live in Norway. Cheers :)
When the organ came in 💥😮mind blown
Omg! Why are the beginning to all your songs so AMAZING! You're the only artist I know has me hooked on the first beat!
+Ryan J Hicks SAMEEEEEE
Absolutely gorgeous and haunting! Just discovered her work yesterday
It’s great to have a song where she sings with a lower tone, even if I love her high voice! Anyway, someone that uses organ and synth, I could only like but how can someone creates only incredible songs like this! She’s the princess of... orchestral-electro? it’s a shame she’s not more famous. A shame... for all those who sadly don’t know susanne, I mean 🤫 a hidden gem
Ok I'm addicted, must have heard this about a dozen time so far
um wait why is this the best song of all time...
Come back to this music Susanne. I know it will take it`s toll on you, but you have too..
OMG! This is sooo good! Susanne- I love you!
Great song.
depeche mode with lady voice NICE :)
The end is amazing
Like bjork and siouxsie and numan and yet not like any of them absolutely excellent - brilliant sound on this album ! i love the whole thing but this song in particular just gets me. so witchy and halloweeny.
+Nymphaea RedFlare Gary numan had several hits 1979 til 1984... like cars or are friends electric, only mentioning the most known ones... still active today and still good!
Nymphaea RedFlare,
'Here in the Black' and 'What God Intended' are the closest Gary Numan songs to this in my opinion. Although, I would recommend listening to 'And It All Began With You'.
❤ i.v listen this so many time I don'nt even remember. It is still so good, Susanne's voice is incredible.❤ love forever ❤
Cool song. Reminds me a bit of "sweet dreams are made of this"
The intro reminds me of Muse - Uprising. The outro reminds me of Dizzee Rascal - Fix Up, Look Sharp.
and the first sounds exactly like Nine Inch Nails
Not to mention the Phantom of the Opera organ section
10/10 album.
This song hypes me up to the max!!!
Pump up the volume at max , it's a killer!
Excellent 💥
Susanne for ever !.... 💖
Thank you for that cool sound❤❤❤
this is totally deliriosly beatiful...dark but beatiful...
Probably my favourite non-single from the album!
I love the 80's. I guess I have always looked for an artist who kinda understand that today.
+Stian Jensen I think this is pretty much exactly what I want to hear; understated and at the same time, overwrought Abba. Really good.
+Stian Jensen I got that too...ABBA on molly
Carly Rae Jepsen's new album is excellent if you want 80's Madonna/Cyndi Lauper vibes
+Johnny Coolin tis more Kate Bushy to me.
+Johnny Coolin Listen to more songs man
Love this song! Thanks for posting!
Incredibly amazing!!!!
Had listen this alot when I broke up with my girlfriend. Now listening again after 10 years.......
Yep on 2015 made my then boyfriend listen to it (and Metric, two musical memories of what I made him discover)
Now it just reminds me of him but that song is so strong I can still appreciate it anew nowadays even without thinking of the breakup that then happened
3:38 Is this.... Is this a phantom of the opera reference? I'm in fucking love. I swear.
This is TRON
Ce titre est sublime !! j'adore :O)

Sounds very Röyksoppish! Sorry, I couldn't resist :) Great!
какая замечательная музыка и голос!!!!
me encanta esta canción
Zakochałam się w Twojej muzyce.
I want to get high to this song.
fr3doooooo I'm in!
Very nice. I'm going to have to buy this album.
Is the organ solo original? It's sounds so Bach.
i thought it was toccatta and fugue for a sec
+armyRANGER772 Oh yes, she borrowed from Toccata and Fugue in D minor alright!
@@jongu71 indeed! There is classic in her note structure. Susanne has been inspired heavily by Abba, but also some more experimental like P Floyd, Pixies and Bowie as well. But in the end her sound, beat and lyrics are unic on her own rights.
-Take your time and finnish your desert.. Mind blowing right there!
@@Battlenude i love this woman
Så jävla bra👍👍👍❤
excellent
Awsome!
It's a siren song !!!
Nigel Rowley a siren song about genocide...
"all we got its a siren song" lyrics inside, so she is a siren
Imagine what a collaboration between her and Carpenter Brut would sound like...!
I love it
Amazing!
OMG this is amazing!
Sometimes lyrics goes deeper than you except...
Omg. It sounds like the soundtrack of Legend of Mana PS1 during the final boss battle.
:D
Fuck me, this is glorious.
Yowza! That's fucking... electrifying!
gold
I can´t wait for the video, please...
reminds me of modern talking in some parts
Leslie Nope then those two modern talking dudes live out some alternative reality inside your head i bet its leonard cohen that`s their producer in there. ))
Frank Hansen why this is synth pop and so similiar what they did in 80's
Is there an instrumental only version?
I wish more amazing artists such as Susanne would upload their songs to bandcamp.com. It always sounds so much closer to the album version. Itunes mixes always sound FLAT. The full sound sounds very diminished when I listen to albums from Itunes.
...bell ringing but it's too late.
This should be a Bond theme song.
slowly , then accelerate.you're gonna break me.
This song would make a fitting intro for a Millennium series movie, I imagine Lisbeth would concur..
I love i love i love i loveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
#NowPlaying #LunchBreakJams
what the instrument at 1.50 ... sound like a piece of stick hit on outside of an empty glass bottle... please tell me the instrument... is it a norwegian music instrumental ...

Spilled the marbles...

PELIGRO:
This musica will make your ears phat.
👍 Is good, No?
The intro sounds like something that would be on the Ghostbusters soundtrack lol.
Sounds to me like Final Fantasy IX black mage theme
An hero?
