- Velma is the newest adult animated comedy series from HBO Max and it has been a hot topic of conversation since its release. In this video, we go over the show, the major problems with it, what this means for the overall Scooby-Doo brand going forward, and how it could be doing more harm than good.

What are your thoughts on the Velma show?
The thing that is the most sad about this is now any other attempt to do the race swapping thing again is going to be associated with this. I've seen other people because of this try making art that does this though and man it almost always looks so good that i wish it was official. Maybe as least the bar is set so low that if it is tried again it will have to be better then this

@Santiago's Videos & Stuff I don't like the show because of the writing and portrayal of the characters, not their sexual orientation. Plus what does Velma's sexual orientation have to do with the quality of the show? Next time ask before jumping to conclusions
Mindy didn't change into Velma, she changed Velma into herself. An annoying, racist, mean, person. Also idc about the politics but the they are lieing about high audience view as a good thing, and actively articles being written saying people who hate it are 'racist or sexist"
So in conclusion we should all watch mystery inc instead of THAT show
Or any other Scooby Doo show. Even the worst one's are better than Velma.

Pretty much a perfect way to describe this. Sad thing is that actual good animated shows like infinity train get canceled so things like this get greenlit 💀
The fact that batgirl, scoob holiday haunt and a bunch of other shows and movies got cancelled, but this survived is pitifully sad

I honestly think David Zaslav just hates the medium of animation and thinks of it all as dead weight (and I have a similar theory about Bob Iger and the Muppets).
Warner Bros used to be the powerhouse of animation in the 90's and early 2000's with some of the best animated movies and shows ever, it's sad to see how far they've turned their back on animation as a whole.
But as for the Velma show, it feels like a self-insert fan-fic for Mindy Kaling, she doesn't just voice Velma she changed Velma's entire character to reflect herself.
Also It's hard to see who this show was aimed for, It's based on Scooby-Doo but actively hates the franchise and takes any opportunity it can to take pot shots at the fanbase, It's an adult animated series but constantly says animation is only for kids and constantly insults adults who watch animated things, It's basically designed to piss off both the right and left wing's of American politics, It's painfully unfunny in every way, AND it's very unsettling in a bad way as it goes out of it's way to sexualize teenagers the entire time (they're all supposed to be 15 for christ's sake).
It's a stretch of a theory but it almost feels like the only reason WB let this show happen was to give Zaslav an excuse to cancel all animated projects.

7:58 Ricardo I hope you understand my pain I feel when I say I used to love Cartoon Network I haven't watched it in like about 2 years since I got a new TV and because of that I have to subscribe to Cartoon Network and my mom doesn't want to pay for it but ever since second grade I used to love watching Teen Titans go and The Amazing World of Gumball and Clarence in a lot of other Cartoon Network shows I really miss how Cartoon Network was in the 2010s I really miss the old CN and if you're as big of a Cartoon Network fan as I am then you're right Cartoon Network is never going to be the same again. But at least Teen Titans go isn't getting canceled but sadly a lot of Cartoon Network's other cartoons DID get cancelled and The Amazing World of Gumball Movie basically got cancelled not to mention in 2020 so did Steven Universe.

Calling Velma or any woke lazy bad thing "modern entertainment" is a disservice to the problem. The real problem is, they do not want to be entertainment. Velma wants to be exitainment.

Venture bros had a better Scooby-Doo adult oriented show. And that was an ep.
The constant excuses like "I don't like that show but I'm not one of THOSE guys!" is cringe. I'm just waiting for a remake of Shaft with the lead being played by a ginger Scotsman.
