I owe so much of my happy childhood to Hills. My parents were able to get me He-Man toys every Christmas, thanks to this place, and their layaway program. Thanks for the memories, Hills!
Same here and it was my first job out of high school i stayed there for 5 years through when Ames bought them. I loved working there to this day was my favorite job ever.
Was just telling a friend the other day, one of my most vivid childhood memories is walking through the He-Man aisle of Hill's before Christmas circa 1986. Absolutely epic
These ads are so much fun to see....my dad was the store manager for several stores in PA, Tn, AL, and I think a few other places. It's rather euphoric to see these and remember my dad and so many great memories.. 🥰
I'm looking for a different Hills Christmas commercial, and wondering if anybody knows what I'm talking about. It ran in the early 80s in Indianapolis, not sure where else, but it was powerful and unique in that it dealt exclusively with the birth of Jesus, and didn't push the store agenda at all. You wouldn't even know it was a Hills commercial accept that the hills logo faded into the lower corner of the picture for about 3 or 4 seconds at the end. It depicted kind of a misty silhouette picture of the three wise men advancing towards the manger, and the voiceover said something to the effect, "before there were Christmas lights, there was a star, that guided three wise men on their way... Before there were gifts under Christmas trees, there was a gift given to all, a savior... Before you open your gifts this year, open your heart to him... Merry Christmas!" That was the basic gist of it. Very unique, I would absolutely love to see it again if anybody has access to it and could post it, God bless, all!
I was at a Hills in Huntsville, AL while traveling on business in the early 1990s. I stopped in and went straight to the toy department. Got a plastic Godzilla figure- I always wanted one! Still have it many years later on my desk at work! Got lots of other stuff too - a giant fern plant, candy, etc. Had never been to a Hills before and will always remember my only visit.
Reminds me of going to the one in Beckley, West Virginia back in the days. When we used to go, me & my brother would steal Atari game cartridges when they were 88 cents. What memories!

There were no Hills in MD, but I remember the commercials. I grew up in Forest Hills, MD not too far from PA. I miss the 80s

I think it was 3 or 4 in Nati and then one in Florence.
