That’s not historically correct, early heads of the church conveniently changed the dates of a particular birthday, in a particular story, to be more important to the Jews as they were the main targets for conversion, Dec 25th was already an important date to the Jews before they heard of Jesus, just like the pilgrims never had turkey and stuffing on the “first” thanksgiving, that baseless assertion was added into the tradition later, but it all makes people happy and that’s all I care about
It won't be sad for long. I'm planning to put together a Retro Decade Revival Project. Our goal is to bring old school back into the public mainstream permanently, with the decades ranging from the 1980s to the Victorian Era.

You are so right! The world is such a evil place anymore. I miss how simple things go were back then. Wish people were still like they was back then. 😢😢
Exactly. Just look at how many of these lovely commercials wish people a happy holiday. These days, if you try doing that, you'll get yelled at by taking the Christ out of Christmas or how being PC is an act of war on Christmas. Heck, you can't even spell it Xmas without someone being offended. Christmas is still a happy holiday, and X is a cross, the Greek letter Christos, but I'm flat out done with defending myself to these people. I no longer wish anyone a happy holiday. It's better to be a Scrooge than to deal with people in these modern times. Bah humbug!
I loved Christmas as a child it was the best time. I miss my parents and grandparents...We are always in a hurry to grow up but never realize being a child was the best years of our lives..I miss those days so much.
The electronic age had arrived big time. Christian themed commercials were not snubbed. KMART and Sears were still relevant. Junk food and sugar laden treats were heavily promoted using children as spokespersons. Dolly Parton was drop dead gorgeous. Claymation was cutting edge technology . And Christmas was still the most anticipated, heart warming, holiday of the year. Wonder what the next forty to fifty years will bring.
I sure remember A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving & Christmas, Frosty the Snowman, Rudolph the red nosed Reindeer, how the Grinch stole Christmas, just to name a few

That is so sweet. I bet your mom enjoyed every minute of it, too. I must say that I miss doing those things now that we’re empty nesters. Christmas isn’t the same without youngsters running around the house. My older daughter is still just a big kid when it comes to Christmas. Even though she’s in her thirties, she likes getting up on Christmas morning to see what Santa brought. Unfortunately, she and her husband live on the opposite coast. This year we’re going to our granddaughter’s house to make new memories. We need to pass the excitement on to the next generation.
We are the same age. I was 17 in 1987 when mine died of cancer. These really do remind me of her too. I am so sorry for your loss! Thinking of our moms this Christmas...
I miss my dad. In the 90s when we would go as a family to pick out our Christmas tree. When he would put up the Christmas lights around the house. When he would work hard every year to make sure Santa brought us every gift we wanted. He was the best dad and every Christmas I think of him and remember him. ❤️☃️🎄
I miss my mom as well she was my best friend. I enjoyed going grocery shopping with her she made a trip the store fun. Now I go grocery shopping I feel so empty and alone I only go through the motions.
I feel the same way...born 73....I love your Strawberry Shortcake pic...she's one of my fave collectables...I constantly miss those magical times around the holidays...
The employees get the money that would go into making a new holiday commercial. Hershey's said that there is no reason to pull resources and time into making a new commercial year after year when they can take care of their employees.
@Sorvea: Their strategy has proven to work, just make good product. Hershey ads are rare, yet Nestle is selling its candy division because could never dislodge Hershey from #1 place.
I found out a couple years ago that they re-animated the Hershey's kisses commercial using computer animation. The original version was done using stop-motion/claymation. I believe they kept the original soundtrack, though.
The world was just as angry for me back then, I saw and felt it, just didn't realize what it was, until I was older. I was a TV kid growing up. Guess it was easier than anything. Now I have a kiddo... 8 years old, and I try to give her something I didn't always have.
Yes. I truly believe the media plays a huge role. They used to report the facts. Now they cherry-pick news stories in order to keep us divided. I would go back to the 80s in a heartbeat!
Yep. I worked at Kmart back in the 80s. Attention Kmart shoppers , look up and around for that blue light. The days of cabbage patch dolls, and the visiting photographer. I still have my kids photos from Kmart. Time flew right on by 😢😢
Paganism and magic ,oh yeah ,that is so Jesus ! Christmas was just a way to get people to spend money on crap they don't need and the crappy toys ended up in the trash soon after .
This was when Christmas was Christmas......You could feel it in the air 🥰🥰🥰 Everyone had lights around the house, your neighbors would send fresh baked cookies or popcorn tins...The Christmas cards started pouring in. Everyone would say hello and Merry Christmas with a smile. The mall's were a winter wonderful, candy canes in every store, pictures with Santa and great sales......I really miss those days. I miss our tree trimming parties and my moms famous Christmas hot chocolate and gingerbread cookies and the Ella Fitzgerald Christmas album playing in the background......Those were the days 🎄🎄🎅🎄🎄🤶🎁🎁🎁🎄🎄

@@bigwillietheb We'll get the old McDonald's back. The Retro Decade Revival Project is going to bring back the days when fast food has lots of good food, great customer service and close on Thanksgiving and Christmas. It's my duty to turn the tables around for the better.
I always did this thing as a kid when we picked a name out of a hat and hew evers name we got we had to get them something for christmas and I remember cristmas shopping going to every mall and store looking at all the christmas decorations and seeing santa at the mall christmas was crazy for me as a kid and really busy
+Kamisa As I type this it's only 4 days before Christmas, and the malls where I live (at least the one closest to me) are still a zoo during Christmas shopping season, which starts earlier than ever these days. I guess the day after Thanksgiving is still called "Black Friday", but shopping gets hectic at least a couple of weeks before that nowadays.
+Laura Dunn As far as picking a name out of a hat, I assume you're not talking about family members?? (or did you have a big family?) I remember having to do that at school.
@@not-so-smartaleck8987 My point is, there are lots of mall closings and stores inside malls going bankrupt and closing all over the country. Malls will either be dwindled down or they will eventually go extinct one day.
I remember when every Christmas, Charlie Brown came on, the Grinch who stole Christmas came on, Rudolph came on, Frosty the Snowman came on, it was like magic!
People had way more Christmas spirit back then. Oh the childhood memories I had! And, the Christmas parties....w0w! I miss my grandparents....they went all out for us.
Yes, there was more Christmas spirit back then. There were more mom-and-pop shops open back then, which meant more Christmas decorating in the towns and cities. There were more things to buy then, too, if that makes any sense.
I also miss my grandparents (well, grandmothers; my grandfathers had died by then), during the days when I was growing up and into my 20's. My father's mother in particular--we used to go to her house during the holidays every year from the 60s (when I was really young) till the mid-80s. A lot of my relatives lived in the same town, or just 1-2 towns away. Then (mid/late-80s) my grandmothers died, and a lot of my relatives started moving far away (including me, after I graduated college in '84!)...
The music in the commercials back then was so peaceful, and the speakers have soothing voices. Nowadays, commercials are so loud and agitating. I always hit the mute button when commercials come on.
Because it's about selling guns an other filthy stuff, around this time of the year one man don't care if he was black or white or the man from outer space, he would get his big truck full of haystraw an pick up all he could an go for a hour long hay ride in the city who he was nobody knew but we knew the fun he bought to everybody

@@thesoultransferprotocol721 True.. in the 70s and 80s when people knew what gender they were.. when the normal family was honored. Nowadays these commercials would make sure to include multiple 2 "dads" .. The world has really gone to crap in 40 years
I’m sitting here, watching these and bawling my eyes out. I remember them all, and most of all, I remember the feelings they evoked in me as a child. I’ve lost those feelings and I would give anything to feel that way again. This was a great time to be a child. Thank you for the nostalgia. It hurts, but I’m still grateful that I once experienced real joy.
Oh my goodness Tiffany! You think about the past the same way I do. I want to always remember the way I felt as a kid, as a mom, and now a grandma! I hope so much I’m helping to make those same kind of feelings generations later. I feel it’s entirety up to us, regardless of the garbage that’s happening out there! I am so grateful that all who have become parents in our family will not allow things like CRT teaching, along with gender choice to not be part of their children’s lives.
Yes, I feel the exact same way! It’s making me feel so nostalgic and so sad, remembering the magic and wonderment of this time of year. Times were so much simpler back then.
Hogwash. The only meaning they has was "let me trick your family into relying on our billion dollar corporate goods so we can crush mom n pop businesses". Everything since the 70s has been about materialistic goods purchased from mass merchants. In fact these commercials are what led to spoiling children to getting whatever they wanted.
When I was growing up in the 60's and 70's, Christmas was the best time of the year in our house. Back then you never heard of school shootings or the other crap that goes on today.
Look up the song " I don't like Mondays". I seem to remember a war my Dad was in, somewhere in South East Asia? Guess you missed that. Sort of like my Father in 1978 on his unaccompanied tour in Korea. No gifts that year. Not everyone is you. Try to be nice to all you meet. You never know what's going on for them. WWJD?
For me it would be the late 60s to the early-mid 80s, before my grandmothers died a couple years apart (my grandfathers died well before that). My family used to visit them at the holidays every year, about a 100 mile drive (as of the early 70s), when I was growing up & in college.
May the holy spirit comfort you . Jesus loves you and your family.John 3:16 King James Version 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life
I love the old Folgers coffee where the grandmother and father is in bed and the brother comes home from. The war and the sister is up and then he opens the offee and wakes them. Up
Actually I think that's Peter Vidmar. He was on the 1984 USA Olympic gymnastics team, won a gold medal. Probably coming home from training. I do love that commercial...I was in LOVE with the men's gymnastic team!
I’ve got to live thru the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s and now 2000’s. Although they all have their fond memories, I have to say their was nothing like the 70s. It was just an amazing decade. So rich in everything…love, hope, innocence, music, and the culture in general.
Bittersweet watching these. I know the 60s, 70s, and 80s had their own share of problems, but it just seemed like there was still a civility and innocence in the general population. The 24/7 news cycle has really made this a less enjoyable world to be in.
I think you are 100% correct. As hard as it is, I keep myself away from the "news you need to know" bs mentality. People haven't changed much, but the anxiety we get bombarded with constantly with media is something. And if you are like me (don't watch news), you get the label of 'burying your head in the sand' from some folks. In the end, I thank God for all I have and the ability to remember these gems....and see them! Who would have thought we'd see these like we do today?!?!
I agree, Growing up thru the 60’s and 70’s and finally the eighties. Yes we had our problems, but it sure seems like the paranoia level has gotten way out of control.
Some of these I haven't seen since they originally aired. I feel such memories but yet sadness because the simpleness yet epicness of the ads are now gone.
I think some are still around. I seen the Norelco electric razor commercial still . I still see the Hershey Kisses also . I see the coca cola commercials are similar, but not the exact one . Love those too . Oh but , I had forgotten about the Invisible Man and Scotch tape . I was so excited when I seen that one . They sure did bring back some wonderful memories for me .
I love seeing the innocence on the children's faces in these commercials and the family oriented themes. Someone build a time machine and send me back.
Sitting here with tears in my eyes.. miss those wonderful times when our world just felt “right”.. those old commercials are heartwarming.. so many good memories.. thank you again for sharing 🤗
It reminds of the magic of Christmas. Yes it is corporations advertising their products but they do it with care for the customers. The good old days when we could actually go to the store and shop. Not on line.
It's sad, we don't have very many Christmas commercials anymore just a few car ads and maybe a dept. store or candy commercial. These commercials made Christmas feel more like Christmas!
Well we have lots of commercials that look Christmasy but none of them will say the word Christmas like most of these commercials. All the stores want you to buy “holiday” gifts and refer to something called Holiday, but none say Christmas. It really ruins the magic of Christmas. It’s really hard to get in the Christmas spirit when no one says Christmas! Our country has really lost its way when it comes to Christmas. It’s always a very sad time of the year now.
I just have to say this. I'm bipolar and the last surviving member of my family. Now while hugs may be toxic this feels as warm as I remember them ❤️ thanks.

I am 61 now and I am missing those magical Christmases of the late sixties and seventies. Now I understand why my parents and grandparents always yearned for the good ol’ days. The more modern the world gets, the less magic is left....
Didn't have much money especially in the 70's but looking back now it was a good feeling to finally get something you wanted then. Sometimes it is more wonderful to want than to have. You take better care of it after you get your desire.
hearttoheart4me We were the same. We had to wait for Christmas to get any toys. My children would go through the Sears wish book and get maybe 4 things they wanted. Nowadays people buy what they want any time of the year, so it’s very hard to buy for others at Christmas.
I am almost 60 and recall all those ads.In fact, I recall many from the late 1960's.TV ads all year were the very best during the 1960's-1980's.They were actually entertaining and often had catchy jingles. They all became horrible after 1990.
Before 2020... I never imagined I would be watching old commercials on TV to comfort me in these CRAZY, creepy, oppresive times!!! Thank you to whoever put these commercials together God bless you!! It makes the hell I'm living in a little more tolerable
The NORELCO razor commercial with Santa riding down a snow covered mountain was always my favorite Christmas commercial. I didn't see it this year. The "Sprite" jingle got me and I still remembered the lyrics. The 7-Up mischievious RED DOTS were always a cute commercial way before the M&M GUYS came along
Family oriented commercials. Sad to say commercials are no longer like that anymore and stores like Sears and JCPenney are going out of business because they can't compete with stores like Amazon.
I hate Amazon, due to their price gouging back in March as the virus took on a new life. Example, toilet paper was $75.00 for 4 rolls on Amazon. And other items. They lost my business because of that.
Absolutely spot on CMWASC No Family Friendly, Family Oriented commercials the past 20 years at least. And that is a sad loss and statement on today's Society
When my mother (R.I.P.) was a young woman, she lived, for a time, in Rochester, NY, & had the opportunity, one winter, to pose for a photo w/the team, between the two lead Clydesdales. She reminisced about it often, remarking on how they'd dwarfed, & somewhat terrified, her, being the tallest, most magnificent creatures she had ever seen.
We have to remember He is still here, and we have to remind others he is!! It's our duty to keep Christ in the everyday world. I know it's hard now, but I'd rather speak for Him, and be hated, than not speak, and be "liked." I'm almost 40, and just getting to the groove of being an adult. I being reminded so often to remember God first. I see it in my daily activity.
Watching this brings back feeling of happiness and contentment. But it also brings sadness and depression because the world is sooooooooo far away from that wonderful life from back then 🥺
And they advertised stuff worth buying instead of the junk now. Am I the only one that wishes the new Daisy sour cream would go away. Boop just annoys me.
A much simpler and quieter time, glad I lived during these times, and I wouldn't trade places with any young person today. Our society today is so infected and diseased. Thanks to the Internet and Social Media.

All this was because our lord Jesus . The reason for the season. 🌲

Bah humbug!

The Hershey's kisses commercial never gets old. I hope they never take it off the air. I can't believe it's that old.

The 7-Up mischievious RED DOTS were always a cute commercial way before the M&M GUYS came along
kennycybertron1. Love the Hershey’s kisses commercials
.
Yeesss!!!.. Norelco commercial was truly one of my favorites.
Yep. That Norelco ad SAID it was officially Christmas season.
Yes! The Norelco was my favorite too.👍😄🎅
Noëlco!
@The Canadian guy yup, representation is always a good thing👍
@@b.k.r.doggielover5449 that was the company's that were selling on Amazon wh3n told Amazon kicked them off of Amazon.
@@ChiefsGirlSince1989 That's great Amazon kicked them off. I didn't know they did that. I still prefer to shop in actual stores though.
Absolutely spot on CMWASC No Family Friendly, Family Oriented commercials the past 20 years at least. And that is a sad loss and statement on today's Society
I love this so much! Such a simpler time. Families were just happy being together. Now everyone is obsessed with technology. Sad😢
It truly is a Broken World now....sad indeed.
As you used technology to post your comment most likely from your smart phone lol
@@r3tr0actiongamer24 Don't be ignorant. You don't have a choice anymore because technology runs our planet.
Everyone is cold and selfish as hell anymore..it's pathetic....
17:01 The Budweiser Clydesdales - they had the best christmas ads ever - love those horses.
alexa penn The commercial of the Clydesdale kneeling down before where the World Trade Center used to be was very touching this year.
Back when the spirt & christ was still put into christmas. Miss those days.
It's still there, don't loose faith
We have to remember He is still here, and we have to remind others he is!! It's our duty to keep Christ in the everyday world.
I know it's hard now, but I'd rather speak for Him, and be hated, than not speak, and be "liked."
I'm almost 40, and just getting to the groove of being an adult. I being reminded so often to remember God first. I see it in my daily activity.
Watching this brings back feeling of happiness and contentment. But it also brings sadness and depression because the world is sooooooooo far away from that wonderful life from back then 🥺
Yeah, I know what you mean Shannon, it almost seems like a fairytale.
Great memories!!! These commercials actually had MEANING compared to today’s trash!!!!
You do realize UA-cam is considered social media. But I do know what you mean. I have made many connections on Fakebook and am grateful for that. Beyond that it can be a double edge sword. Thank goodness we can enjoy these from the past with fondness.
I love You Tube, but I was talking about Facebook and even more so Twitter.
Simon5005 I know exactly what you're saying. I grew up in the 70's and 80's. And feel so blessed to have been around during those times!
Life was better without cell phones and social media. I agree.
Well no thanks to thugs, bullies, or criminals period. It has become a cold hearted society we live in today . Such a shame for generations to come. I feel sorry for the good kids that deserve to have a wonderful Christmas like we did , but because of the way things are today it ruins it for them .
I love each and every one of you equally. Remember that the little child from your childhood still lives within your hearts; allow that kid to come out and play sometimes. Happy Holidays to you all.❤️✨😊
I was born in the 90’s but I absolutely love these older commercials
Some of them even make me tear up
Looking through the Sears & JC penny catalogs at my Grandmothers home for christmas Gifts as a kid ..RIP to my Grandparents love them so much they spoiled us and there were a lot of us lol.. thanks for the memories
Yes...!! My sister and I and my cousin's would do the same thing. We would circle what we wanted for Christmas. I don't know how we all ended up with our on catalogs though. I had so many aunt's and uncles , maybe they brought theirs over to my grandmother's house ? Now , that's got me thinking. LOL...!! But anyway we did enjoy that too .
I miss my grandparents so much. Every year it gets worse. Just not the same. I miss the 80s. The tv shows movies music commercials my first love. I can remember cookies and hot chocolate while my grandparents and I wrapping presents. Listening to Christmas music. Church on Christmas Eve. The traditions. Going downtown Cincinnati to see the Christmas figures at shillitos. Sears Christmas catalog. Just not the same. I miss it all
@@traciwhittaker5588 , that's true . It's never the same once our grandparents or parents are gone. Our families don't even act the same . Hardy even see each other anymore period once they passed away. So sad .
@@bonniebrown6960 I know what you mean. Since my grandparents and parents passed away, nobody in the family gets together. Younger generations just communicate via social media and I don't think they place as much value on the family gatherings. I sure do miss those days, I had 12 brothers and sisters, 10 now because we lost two siblings. Everyone is scattered everywhere now. I would love to have just one more Christmas from the 60s/70s when we were kids, it was such a great time!
@@Robinsnest219 I just attended a funeral where much of the family didn't come and learned that some cousins have had kids and I didn't know since I don't have a Facebook. We used to get together several times a year long ago and now we've only had one reunion in probably 10 years. There is also a lot of estrangement going on in families I've noticed, even my own. Times are different for sure.
You would never imagine commercials having so much nostalgia … 🎄 Miss the way this country used to be …
These ads make me so melancholy for a simpler time. I remember these commercial like it was yesterday. Simpler times indeed- remember going to a local store Miller & Rhodes- was one of those stores where they had a elevator with the cage and an attendant- but we had Tea with Santa!! It was tradition and everyone dressed up in their finest and had photos with Santa. That Santa was what everyone called “The REAL Santa” he was a local legend. We just don’t do things like this anymore. Makes me wish I could go back to the 1980’s and stay there.
mnmb3640 I will go with you!
*stay there* is right 👍
Pagan holiday that made no sense ,spend your money on crap you don't need and toys kids tossed aside a few days later .How many corporations got rich from this pagan crap ,now they want to starve us all to death and give us a poison vax .People are so brain washed and lost on their stupid smart phones , satans leash that controls them like little minions .I want to throw up.
I was once a child and knew a thing called magic.
and mystique.
Yes, that’s how I feel too!
I'm grow and still know it
I know about magic
Watching these at Christmas 2020 wishing I could go back. Being a kid in the 70s and 80s is something I would not trade for anything. Atari and going to the Kmart toy aisle was priceless! Merry Christmas to you all!
I was a tad older. I had an intellivision.
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve needed to return to this video. Sometimes I just have one of those days & I need to escape my modern reality...these Xmas commercials take straight back to the awe & wonder I once experienced as a child.
Best of times... WHAT A GREAT period it was to be a kid... longing...
These commercials take me back to being a kid again, home with my mom and dad. They're both gone now, but I cherish the memories.
man im glad I grew up in the 70s and 80s, kmart commercial took me back to a wonderful time
I still look forward to seeing the Hershey's Kisses commercial every year, and I also used to love the Norelco commercial with the Santa.
Bleh 🤣🤣🤦🏻♀️ I honestly hate that Hershey commercial! 🤣🤣 No offense to you, I just hate it. After all of these years, that specific kiss hasn't learned to get it right. 😭
It would have taken them very little money to edit the last bit every year, so he gets it wrong a in a new way, or barely makes it in a new way. 😭
Yes, it wasn't Christmas for me until I saw Santa riding on the electric razor! LOL
@@janieg8287 Down the snow drifts lol..yeah that was cool.
The Folgers Peter Comes Home Commercial always gets me. I wish My Son could come home for Christmas. Merry Christmas in Heaven, Patrick. Dad Loves You So Much.
Its sad to see these Kmart stores since most of them are closing.
And its parent company, Sears...😢
I know, I used to work at Kmart when I was a teen in the 80's. Things were so much nicer back then. How I wish to go back then
Sears stores are closing too, I used to love to get the Sears Christmas wishbook & look at all the toys I wanted & dreamed about getting
It won't be sad for long. The Retro Decade Revival Project is going to bring it all back in no time. Hang in there, Vicky, never say never.
All the main stores are closing....people complain about Wal-Mart and Amazon but still shop there anyway.
I just watched 46 minutes of commercials and I enjoyed every second of it.
Remember combing through TV Guide or the Sunday paper to see when your favorite Xmas special was broadcast?
You knew that if you missed it, that was it. The anticipation was half the fun.
Love the Hershey kiss commercial
Oh those were the days. Loved watching.
I would give anything to be able to go back in these times when life was so much better.
It was so much better because the internet didn’t spread stuff as fast, and you were younger and more unaware
I LOVE the Hershey's commercial. I've also bonded with that one kiss that rings at the end and then gets tired from ringing so much. It's still going more than 30 years later ❤️
I absolutely remember a lot of these commercials because I was born in 1968 and grew up in the 70’s and was a teenager during the early 80’s so all these bring back very special memories for me especially spending Christmas with my grandma and grandpa and my Mom!! They have all sense passed away now but they will always live on in my heart and memories!!! They always made Christmas very special for me and my brothers always!!!!😊🥰♥️💜🎄🎄🎅🏻🎅🏻☃️☃️🎄🎄
I wish I could go back in those times these days are so sad now
Recently my mom had passed and watching these commercials that I grew up in brings back so many great memories of her and I. We absolutely loved Christmas and shopping for the family. Brings so many great memories of my childhood and her so much.
I'm sorry for your loss.
I'm so thankfull i grew up during the 70/80's. The Norelco santa commericals were the best
Feel like Christmas isn’t the same anymore especially when you have family members pass away 🥺💔 but is still love Christmas 🎄
I know exactly how you feel
They still want us to celebrate Christmas 🎉
