That’s not historically correct, early heads of the church conveniently changed the dates of a particular birthday, in a particular story, to be more important to the Jews as they were the main targets for conversion, Dec 25th was already an important date to the Jews before they heard of Jesus, just like the pilgrims never had turkey and stuffing on the “first” thanksgiving, that baseless assertion was added into the tradition later, but it all makes people happy and that’s all I care about

I would always have my crayola marker ready and start straight to the toy section with my brother and sister! I miss the old ways. You didn't have to wait for a monitor to turn on, or system's to turn back up, or anything crashing, no hacking concerns (unless your chain smoking mom was coughing up a lung!) there were caroller's at your front door all happy (no fear of them robbing you) and everyone had those good old fashioned Christmas lights on with multi-coloured fat bulbs that the newspaper kid would steal to pop one later with his friends! It wasn't as materialistic, and there stronger ethics and manners back than!!! Ahh! Yes! We weren't warn and told to only say Season's Greetings back than. It was plain and simple, with true warmth and meaning of 'Merry Christmas' and 'Godbless' Morals! What are those again?😔

Exactly. Just look at how many of these lovely commercials wish people a happy holiday. These days, if you try doing that, you'll get yelled at by taking the Christ out of Christmas or how being PC is an act of war on Christmas. Heck, you can't even spell it Xmas without someone being offended. Christmas is still a happy holiday, and X is a cross, the Greek letter Christos, but I'm flat out done with defending myself to these people. I no longer wish anyone a happy holiday. The electronic age had arrived big time.
Christian themed commercials were not snubbed.
KMART and Sears were still relevant.
Junk food and sugar laden treats were heavily promoted using children as spokespersons.
Dolly Parton was drop dead gorgeous.
Claymation was cutting edge technology .
And Christmas was still the most anticipated, heart warming, holiday of the year.

Christmas isn’t the same without youngsters running around the house. My older daughter is still just a big kid when it comes to Christmas. Even though she’s in her thirties, she likes getting up on Christmas morning to see what Santa brought. Unfortunately, she and her husband live on the opposite coast. Well we have lots of commercials that look Christmasy but none of them will say the word Christmas like most of these commercials. All the stores want you to buy “holiday” gifts and refer to something called Holiday, but none say Christmas. It really ruins the magic of Christmas. It’s really hard to get in the Christmas spirit when no one says Christmas! Our country has really lost its way when it comes to Christmas. It’s always a very sad time of the year now.

Now, the "F" word is so common that my kids don't even flinch when they hear it (from friends or on the street)...they know better not to say it, but the older ones (19 and 17) use "damn" and "hell" sometimes. 0_o

The main difference I see is families dont seem to have the time to gather as they used to. I know several people myself included will have to work Christmas day or night. Seems everyone got in a big hurry, chasing the dollar. We went from being human to full on consumers. Went to the store the other day people grabbing shit, throwing things on the floor. Looked like a goddamned bomb went off. Just got the one thing I needed and got out. Tired of spending money on things that will one day end up in the trash. Always, almost everything you will ever own will be trash.

Day of The Rope and this is all entirely up to us. If we don't shop on holidays & Sundays, stores would be closed. This would demand family time. Values would emerge, mental illness would decline, overall health would increase, etc...... This is not really a "memory" so much as it's really the way WE have chose to live. I've already started to return to these days.

    • @kittykixbootie
      @kittykixbootie 3 роки тому +1

This right here is why I despise the holidays now. I used to love Christmas as a child of the 70s and it was always my goal to make lasting memories for my children. Now my kids are grown and I've seen the traditions in the US crumble in the name of capitalism. Used to be you would drive down the main street in your town on Christmas Eve and day and it would be deserted except for maybe a couple of gas stations. That's the way it should be and it made it feel like Christmas. Now you drive down the street and it feels like any other day of the week. You can probably find an open Taco Bell and get yourself a fucking bean burrito for Christmas dinner.
We all know now that it never was about Christs birthday. It never was. It was a big old payday for the bankers who run the world to scoop up our money year after year after year without having to even ask. And Santa (Satan?) wears a red suit even and breaks into your house in the middle of the night. How creepy is that?
I feel that Christmas as we've known it will eventually go down in history as a bygone memory of the longest con in history.

Mizz Moxie half these commercials say happy holidays or seasons greetings. No one was threatened by it in the ‘80s.🙄

@@srkh8966 no but people are offended by anything to do with Christ now days and thats the truth.. commericals could say meet Christmas and happy holidays and neither would stand out.
Today it's only the holiday season not the Christmas season and happy holidays not merry Christmas for a reason..to remove any subtle mentions of Christ.

@@delilasloan8914 No, it isn’t. It’s alt right fake hysteria. In the old days, no one got offended by Christmas cards with Happy Holidays or Season’s Greetings-both have existed since the late 1800s. Celebrating Christmas isn’t even in the Bible, so if it wasn’t an issue for Jesus or the Disciples, who are you fronting for?

Man I wish I lived during these times. They seem so much more happier and they have more Christmas spirit. Everyone nowadays doesn’t care or isn’t as happy. It just seems and looks so much more cozy. 😓

I'm 54 and Christmas was happier back then. Truth is, everything was happier back then. 70's and 80's was a great time to live in. Now, the Democrats have took over the world and made life as sucky as they can. Heck, they don't even want you to say ''Merry Christmas'' or ''Christmas tree''. They want to tell you how you can and can't live your life. It's a shame what they have done to this Country...

For me it would be the late 60s to the early-mid 80s, before my grandmothers died a couple years apart (my grandfathers died well before that). My family used to visit them at the holidays every year, about a 100 mile drive (as of the early 70s), when I was growing up & in college.

Before 2020... I never imagined I would be watching old commercials on TV to comfort me in these CRAZY, creepy, oppresive times!!! Thank you to whoever put these commercials together God bless you!! It makes the hell I'm living in a little more tolerable
