    btw forward roll cancel provides a faster sheathe than a side/back roll cancel

    From my experience playing the game, being greedy with any weapon is a massive hit to your DPS. Being greedy in monster hunter may in fact be the root of all evil

      Rocksteady Mantle should be renamed as Greedy Mantle, lol

      Being flattened on the ground and needing to heal is not great DPS.

    Interesting, this actually matches my experience. I intuitively leaned toward those “medium length, minimal charge” combos because it seemed they did pretty good damage and I wasn’t missing. Only used the long charge sequences if I had a knockdown and knew I had time. Thought I was playing sub-optimally but maybe not. Thanks for taking the time to share this.

    nice video!
    another benefit to the draw slashes and charging them would be frostcraft and critical draw. Crit draw only costs 3 skill points for 100% affinity so it's easy to build for and combining those two will probably make draw slashing even better.

    id love to see an expansion of this video into tcs, slinger burst, wide slash, etc... this is excellent information for any gs user new or old.

    very interesting,
    How about a set which has crit draw instead of CE and WEX to slot in more "comfy" skills (like a Velkhana set that also gets access to frostcraft)
    would it make sense to charge the draw slash instead of the SCS?
    Perhaps a DS3-SCS0 for the 6 second window for example.
    Btw I love your videos man, it is thanks to you in great part that I managed to solo MH4U all the way to Gog earlier this year, which is something I had wanted to do for a long time but I never thought I'd be good enough to pull off, cheers!

      @@naota909 Hey, thanks for the quick reply! and don't worry man this is kinda of a niche question, Im asking because I recently got back to IB after not playing it for a few years and currently progressing through Master Rank, Im sure it isn't relevant with any set after the metal raths or the like, but thought Id ask in case you knew off the top of your head.
      currently binging all your "git gud" MH series and greatly enjoying them and relearning again, cheers!
      Btw the way you advocate for CB play is what opened the weapon to me, before I thought it was all about SAED spam so I didn't care but I love the Sword and Board gameplay so you convinced me to main it as I go through the game again, only using Savage Axe and the AED's on topples has greatly improved my survivability (And DPS) with it.

    Then you get the AT Velkhana set and your damage is amazing 😁 then you get health Regen augment on your GS and now the endgame is I will try to never use healing items.

    So playing GS with Safi'jiiva set is kind of counter-intuitive, then? Because you need to keep your weapon drawn in order to recover any hp after some hits?

    Whenever I try to play GS I get caught on overcharging or being greedy for TCS. I felt the "noob" hunter comment hard hahah I might at some point try it again. Also, Focus seems like a trap for GS

    • @naota909
      @naota909  7 місяців тому +2

      my past 2 GS videos, I did not even give TCS the light of day.
      There's a reason for that.

      @@naota909 I'm starting to notice a pattern hahaha it's also making me better at the game. I'm slowly learning how to better find punishes with the SA (what I'm mainly playing for now). The stab (forward+attack) is really good and the backstep upper too, both come out fast and deal nice damage.
      It's been hard to find moments for sword mode though, but that's my newbieness

  • @jtdubs175

    One point for DS3 vs scs1 combo would be using it predictively, no?
    Since all the damage comes in a single hit it’s better in scenarios where you’d miss the scs1 because the monster moved….

    • @naota909
      @naota909  7 місяців тому +1

      that requires a 4s monster windup + tack on the positioning tax time so > 4s
      which is possible for some moves but extremely rare
      Focus on the 99% not the 1%

    What's the reason we are counting the animations until we sheathe, instead of counting until the frame we can roll after our attack?

    • @naota909
      @naota909  7 місяців тому +1

      b/c it's part of the GS dmg rotation and you should do it 99% of the time and/or will do it anyways.
