It’s got to a point where pretty much every watch is open for me to buy, I’ve watched so many reviews but still can’t decide! I run, mostly just run, but then do triathlons occasionally aswell. I thought about the 735 XT and the 935 but I run mostly so I just don’t know. Thinking about 245 now
Huge price difference. Wish there was a mid version between F245 & F45 having a display of F245 & the strap change facility & offering fewer options than the F245😓
I walk and cycle and the 45 suits me very well, it pairs with my speed and cadence sensors as well as a gps map of my route, i do prefer the look of the 245 though, i might upgrade at some point. Great review.
I just bought an Forerunner 45 and I think the battery life sucks. I have to charge it every 2-3 days and turn off the connection with the phone after synchronization otherwise the battery will drain even faster. I also noticed that the battery meter only shows 20, 40, 60, 80 and 100% steps. That is really annoying.

Extensive information & great comparison! Specially for a long time runner who is a tech- illiterate LOL. I think I will go for 245. A question here, I am using adidas running app and all my running data is saved in this app installed in my phone. Can i sync the 245 with adidas running app ?
Do you notice the extra thickness on the 245 and do you find it harder to stop activities (runs and sport) . I currently have the Garmin forerunner 235 and it’s very good but I’m not see if the 245 will be much thicker and bulkier when I wear it.

Yes, it looks like you can charge the watch while in a GPS activity. The activity does not seem to be affected at all. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Does the watch alone measure HR or do I need the chest strap? Is the chest strap just for better accuracy?
Both watches can measure heart rate for running and relaxing. Get a heartstrap if you do anything that's not steady state running.

No, unfortunately the non-music version does not have wifi.

If I am not mistaken, the 245 features a dedicated GPS mode "Ultratrack" that will decrease the sample rate and push the autonomy beyond 24h on GPS.

Sadly no. Only the 645 and above have a barometer-based altimeter.
Wish the 245 had altimeter and garmin pay but then nobody would buy the higher end models lol.
