Seeing U2 “Bad”at Live Aid was AMAZING! It’s worth a look.

Just an astounding song. One of the main fanbases favorites because of the live performances of it. Later years Bono adds snippets of lots of other artists at the end which is cool.
There really isn’t anyone that can touch U2 live. I’ve seen them 13 times and never disappoint.
As for Coldplay, both them and The Killers have said they started because of U2.
    If this is your style,
    Sort of Homecoming
    With or Without You
    Love Is Blindness
And a little heavier but incredible songs - Until the End of The World
And Wire (May be no live version of this)
And if you want to see why they are loved live, you can do a double reaction of All I Want is You followed by Where the Srreets Have No Name from Slane Castle.
Live performance reaction is a must for any U2 song.

A song about watching a friend descend into Heroin abuse, hence the driving rhythm and droning guitar, it's a slow descent into the abyss. U2 when they were 24/25 years old. Their next album launched them to superstardom. React to Joshua Tree songs (Where the Streets Have No Name, I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For, With or Without You). I like how you react, Good stuff, "so that's where Coldplay gets it from"! subscribed.

This is my favorite song of theirs! You should also try A Sort of Homecoming from the same album.

Their rendition of this at Live Aid was epic, it's what bumped them up another few levels to superstars. Stole the show until Freddy stepped on stage, wasn't even close otherwise. You'd love it!

I'm a monster U2 fan, from Boy to The Joshua Tree. Anything after that is another band to me. But early U2 is killer. The Live At Red Rocks concert DVD is perfect from first to last note.

I go back and forth on whether I prefer Bad live or the album version. Kind of depends on mood. Slightly different vibe on the album version. Great song!

the 12" Ep version "Wide awake in America" is the gold standard for me. Although I still think their version of Bad at Live Aid will never be surpassed. But that's a whole other vibe. Great song indeed.

There are a few U2 songs where the album versions match the live versions and for me "Bad" is one of them. I love the intensity of the vocals on the album version, Bono was really feeling it when they recorded that song.

Awesome reaction! I’ll definitely continue to tune in for more U2. If you like Coldplay, you should love U2. Chris Martin is pretty open about how Coldplay’s music, especially their first decade or so is heavily influenced by U2.

The good ole days where the audience is actually watching the band. No cell phones to fiddle with!!
"Looks like Patrick Swayze!" LOL ... and maybe Robin Williams? (RIP)

Glad you gave U2 another chance. Like many great bands, their best stuff was early to middle of their stretch. Curious, what was the song/performance that initially turned you off from them?

Oh man there are a lot of 90s U2 haters in the comments lol. I think The Joshua Tree is the best album to start with, and that Achtung Baby is easily their greatest album. It seems to be the one that means the most to the band as well. If you like Coldplay then you will definitely like a lot of U2. For me U2 are on another level in terms of intensity and depth. 80s U2 is where they cemented the sound that has been super influential on a ton of bands, they did a lot of stuff in the 90s that was different and pushed their creativity and range. A lot of original U2 fans who have been there since the 80s weren't really on board with the way they were experimenting in the 90s and haven't really revisited that stuff since it came out. For younger fans like myself, 90s U2 is where it is at. Especially the album Zooropa was so ahead of its time. I would say if you like Coldplay, 80s U2 was their bigger source of inspiration. If you like Muse, they are huge fans of 90s U2. But in general I think U2 are like the biggest underrated band. They get a lot of heat for dumb stuff and they are on the surface pretty uncool lol, but they have an amazing catalog and it is hard not to respect how innovation and influential they are. They are also just an incredible live band. I'm not the hugest fan of the stuff off the last couple albums, but even those songs sound great live.

I have been a U2 fan since 1979. Great music, heartfelt music, incredibly beautiful. After Actung Baby. Awful

U2 from Boy to Actung Baby was great. Beyond that….garbage. These albums were a huge part of my growing up. The Joshua Tree is one of the top 10
    Albums of all time.

Back when they still had fire in the belly. I'm not going to hate on any band who keeps trying to rock on into their sixties, but they definitely do not have that urgency in their albums or live shows these days.
