What Phil didnt mention was the difference between 1st and 2nd place was somewhere around 60 points (232 for Chris to 172 for me.) Chris really nailed the two final feats and was the clear winner, he had great cutting all day that was a pleasure to watch. Next time I hope to give him a better run for his money XD *Edited as Chris had more points than I thought.
Thanks! And it's a preference thing. I chose the inward rising mainly because the follow up cut is faster and better for me personally. I also do the same for longsword. This was my first time doing two in a row on separate mats though. Phil put on a great and very fun tournament for arming sword, very challenging. Each of the cutting tournaments this year were awesome.
Chris runs Sterling Armory and this is one of his swords. I cant remember the model but I believe its the same model he won Gold with at Combat con with in 2022.
Very smooth cutting, Chris!
Thanks!
Fantastic cuts! I'm guessing he is using one of his own blades? Gotta be a cool feeling.

Smooth, very smooth!
Inward rising cut is considerably more challenging than the outward when single-handed. Very nice cutting!

No, but I love that one! This was a Sterling Armory type XVIII I made a couple months back based on some historical favorites of mine.
What type of wood was being cut?
