I'm new to club repair. Question: Everything I read about graphite shafts and "reshafting" said to never use course sandpaper so as to prevent getting down to the fibers of the shaft. Two different things I watched (one), read (the other) stressed this. I fully understand why you did what you did (was a contractor in a different life). So the question: have you ever had any issues with the graphite shafts doing what you do?
You wouldn't want to use the coarse sandpaper with a belt sander for sure. By hand your’re able to control the pressure and really just scuff the tip enough for maximum bonding.
