I feel Mimi Hines is what so many aggrandized performers (great as they may be) purport to be. She connects with the audience, her moments are so clear, beautiful and devastatingly deep and true, and needless to say, her voice comes from a special, indescribable part of her being.
One of my earliest, and fondest, memories is of seeing Mimi Hines as Reno Sweeney in "Anything Goes" at the Westbury Music Fair in 1961 or 1962. (It was still a tent then!) I was five or six. I was mesmerized. Thirteen years later I got my Actors' Equity card, and I'm still at it today at the age of 56! Thanks, Mimi!
i saw the City Center Encores staging of 'Follies' - so glad there is this good quality video of Mimi's performance - which brought the house down, in a production with many stellar moments. (And in 1967, I saw Mimi Hines perform the lead in Funny Girl on Broadway.)
She's still kickin'! 50 years ago I heard her sing "Til There Was You, on the tonight show and I nearly jumped out of my skin. She had a soprano range that was unbelievable!

@garymazzeo3490: Roseanne Barr could NEVER sing like this no matter how many tweets she makes under the influence of Zambian. Good riddance to her and CONGRATULATIONS MIMI HINES!!!

This is my favorite performance of Broadway Baby I’ve seen and heard. Loves it.
I wish I had seen her perform live. She was truly one of the great legendary performers. And singers.

Just the best what a voice
Eleven years ago and still such fun to watch!
I always loved Elaine Stritch's version of Broadway Baby, until I saw Mimi Hines do it. Great performance. I now love them both!

One of the best interpretations of this song--funny and melodious all at once.

A great performer. I saw her many years ago on Broadway when she took over from Streisand in "Funny Girl."
She kept her voice in such good shape!
This is how it’s done. Sensational!

I saw Mimi in "Funny Girl," on Broadway, as Streisand's replacement. She was sensational.
I also saw her in Funny Girl. Yes, she was absolutely wonderful. Also loved her TV performances.
I saw her in Vegas and about 10 years ago in Key West in a tour of "No, No, Nanette".
She was better, actually.
OH! Do I LOVE this!
Terrific interpretation.
Thank you so much for posting this again! The clip was taken down, and I've missed it very much.
Mimi sales it with this one!
thanks for sharing a mutual joy long in past...
Mimi does the Best song interp., in my carefully considered opinion.. cuz I'M A Wannabe Broadway Baby.. that's why!!
She absolutely should have been a bigger star! I saw her in Funny Girl" on Broadway. She took over after Barbra Streisand left. She was wonderful!
Rest in Peace Mimi
I remember her from her younger days with her husband
@filmmekker From NYC Centers ENCORES!
She is just delicious!!!
Who's the Solange here? Anyway, love this rendition so much! Mimi Hines is such an incredible artist.
What was this concert? What else did she sing? Anyone know?
This was her only song. She played Hattie (the role originated by Ethel Shutta) in Encores 2007 concert production of FOLLIES.
Which version of Follies is this from? She's fantastic!
City Center all star concert version, I believe, 2008.
She looks like Roseanne barr
