This song is so simple it FEELS like a campfire song. That’s why I wasn’t a huge fan of it at first. But after a couple more listens I realized that’s the beauty of the song
I honestly wasn’t incredibly fond of the sound of this song when it was first released, but hearing Adam talk about his personal connection to the story of this album made me hear it in a different way. Now that this video is out, it means even more, and the song has definitely grown on me. I’m super excited for the continuation of this story in the coming videos and for every story we’ll hear in the coming album.
I'm so glad this ended on a "to be continued" note. I love the music Adam makes. While his latest album (cinematic) isn't my favorite, it still brings a smile to my face and is deeply encouraging to me. And God knows, there isn't enough of that to go around these days.

To everybody who is insulting this song and calling it 'awful', remember that his new music is something he makes since he's a lot older because his life has changed. He is making music for his own personal project. If you forget that, on most Owl City CDs it says Owl City is a project. So if you don't enjoy his music, don't dis what he holds personal to him. He's changed in the way we all do. We all grow into different kinds of people someday and to expect Adam to be making the same style of music as in Maybe I'm Dreaming or Ocean Eyes isn't fair. One of the things I love most about Owl City is that he doesn't make songs for sake of only making songs. He makes them for fun or for story telling or for writing personal content that he braves out to show the world. I don't view Adam as a machine that is suppose to make music similar to his older style. I enjoy Adam because he is a jack of all trades. He makes whatever kind of music he chooses to. That's the beauty of it all. Is that he's more than an album cover. He's a real human being with heart and soul. He never made music to become famous he made music because he enjoys it and used it as an escape. I understand that it can be hard to transition from the style we once loved when we were younger. To know that the happy times of songs like Bird and The Worm, Fireflies,Galaxies, ect isn't exactly always going to stay around can be tough. For some, it reminds them of being younger. But as time passed and Adam matured more, so did his songs. Even if you view this song as 'terrible' it's mature in the fashion that Adam went out and took a jump into a new style. Can you blame somebody for doing so? It's a scary leap to veer, but he did so. I for one enjoy this song and I have no other expectations than to hear the story from album to album of what brings this man joy in a world so dull and gray. Owl City is what he wants it to be and to me that's perfect in it's own way. Remember that. (I apologize if any of this is incorrect or against anything to any of y'all.)

But I’ve seen various videos just blatantly insulting Adam Young for trying new music and insulting his new voice and calling him a wanna be country person. Maybe if people would listen to more than 30 seconds of this song before they decide they don't like it, they'd actually find it catchy like I do. I think this is the kind of song you have to give a chance and listen to it a few times before you can appreciate it. As a big fan of Owl City, I've listened to this song probably 5 times. It's worst thing he's ever created, and it pains me to even bother hearing him lazily rap corny lyrics while teenage girls sing along in the background. In comparison to any song on All Things Bright and Beautiful, this is just pathetic.
You don't even find the chorus catchy? All I hear that people hate it seems is the beginning with the "rapping". What about when it picks up at 1:05 to the chorus? You don't even like that?
It's good if he wants it to be the theme song of another Disney TV show about friendship... and in comparison to many other choruses, this one is lyrically weak and not impressive. I rated this a 3/10, and gave Lucid Dream an 8/10.
That's fine if you genuinely don't like this song, but please don't leave hurtful comments under his videos like this. If you're as big of a fan as you say you are, then you should always support Adam and his music without judging him so harshly. You won't turn on him the minute he makes a song you don't like. You wait for the next one to see if it's more to your liking. How would you feel if someone called your song, "Worst song of the year." Or "A pathetic train wreck" ? These are things I've heard others say, but you get the idea. When I'm not crazy about a song, I don't try and think of hurtful ways to say how much I hate it while comparing it to other songs of his. That's just unnecessary. If you feel you must comment something negative, at least make it constructive criticism. Anyone who turns on one of their favorite artists the minute they make something that is not to their liking, do not look like true fans in my eyes...
Every beautiful song should have a beautiful video and this is no exception, I love it and the idea that the following videos are a story together seems to me something very original, incredible and special, love the detail of Fireflies and the moment in which Adam gives him the coins was a moment in which a smile formed on my face, I do not know why it is that Adam is interested in his followers and not only in fame or money, I just really liked the video, What a great Owl City!!!!!!
You know what? I first felt nothing about this song, until I went to the concert in Tokyo (wow good memories). It fit perfectly with the atmosphere there,. It was such a great end with this song in that concert.

Especially when he smiles, he has such a beautiful smile and not only that but even when he's dancing at the beginning of the video he just looks so into it and I feel like dancing along with him. My precious close friend circle consisted 5 friends and myself has gone broken 1 year ago because one of the boy member fell in love with another girl member in the circle and we can't stand to see it, eventually we were fighting and dismissed. So this was filmed at the high school I went to. I went there at the time this was filmed and in the background on one of the whiteboards, you can see what we called our "band meme" whiteboard where we drew pictures making fun of our music teachers. Being new to OwlCity, I find this good? I've heard Fireflies and Shooting Star, but this gives me a certain charm? Like a childhood song but better. It still stands as a song just as good as the others to me.
Of course it is a personal thing but i really can not understand why many disliked this song. Maybe it is not Adam's style but it is definitely such a good song in my opinion. Let him try new things... But still everything he does is gold to me. Thanks Adam.

Are there a lot of songs out there about friendship, at least right now? If not then how can it be a platitude/cliche? While it might not be the deepest most complex theme (or lyrics) in the world, it's far from empty. Encouraging people to be true and support one another and let your relationship be a light for other people to be encouraged by- only apply those themes to friendship. And put it to catchy upbeat music (have to listen to it a few times for that I admit) and you have yourself a feel good song, perhaps a tiny bit corny but I like corny from time to time myself. Understand if other people don't, I didn't at first and still don't care for some aspects of it.
This will be the third album in a row full of contrived, uninspired, 'whoa-oa' choruses from Adam. Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge Owl City fan - those early albums were my whole life for a while. But this new music hasn't connected in anything close to the same way. From both an emotional and objective point of view his new music isn't nearly as poetic or original as it used to be.
Oh my goodness! This video speaks to me so much. While at college, I work as a janitor in a high school in the afternoons. Now that I am on Christmas break, I can hang out with all my friends again! :D I have the biggest smile ever right now.
People saying this isn’t him obviously don’t pay attention. This is literally a classic Owl City song, with the lyrics and everything it just screams it. Just because it’s not electronic doesn’t mean it’s not Owl City.
Theory time: what if that janitor kid represents Adams younger self, and that girl at the end is Anne Marie? It would make sense since the kid seems introverted and likes music. And that part where Adam comes by with a confident smile and gives him money kinda cements the idea of the past and the present coming full circle. Idk, and the song is about all his friends, but at the end his friends seem to be holding him down, not letting him go to the girl (who could very well be symbolic of something important.) Because friends are amazing, but they aren't perfect.

I absolutely love this song. It does't start out with that traditional Owl City sound but I really really love it. My mom actually didn't know it was Owl City until I told her. Anyway, I've grown up listening to Adam's music and I own every CD he's put out. I'm really glad he's still making music.

To everybody who is insulting this song and calling it 'awful', remember that his new music is something he makes since he's a lot older because his life has changed. He is making music for his own personal project. If you forget that, on most Owl City CDs it says Owl City is a project. So if you don't enjoy his music, don't dis what he holds personal to him. He's changed in the way we all do. We all grow into different kinds of people someday and to expect Adam to be making the same style of music as in Maybe I'm Dreaming or Ocean Eyes isn't fair. One of the things I love most about Owl City is that he doesn't make songs for sake of only making songs. He makes them for fun or for story telling or for writing personal content that he braves out to show the world. I don't view Adam as a machine that is suppose to make music similar to his older style. I enjoy Adam because he is a jack of all trades. He makes whatever kind of music he chooses to. That's the beauty of it all. Is that he's more than an album cover. He's a real human being with heart and soul. He never made music to become famous he made music because he enjoys it and used it as an escape. I understand that it can be hard to transition from the style we once loved when we were younger. To know that the happy times of songs like Bird and The Worm, Fireflies,Galaxies, ect isn't exactly always going to stay around can be tough. For some, it reminds them of being younger. But as time passed and Adam matured more, so did his songs. Even if you view this song as 'terrible' it's mature in the fashion that Adam went out and took a jump into a new style. Can you blame somebody for doing so? It's a scary leap to veer, but he did so. I for one enjoy this song and I have no other expectations than to hear the story from album to album of what brings this man joy in a world so dull and gray. Owl City is what he wants it to be and to me that's perfect in it's own way. Remember that. (I apologize if any of this is incorrect or against anything to any of y'all.)

Maybe if people would listen to more than 30 seconds of this song before they decide they don't like it, they'd actually find it catchy like I do. I think this is the kind of song you have to give a chance and listen to it a few times before you can appreciate it.
When I first listened to this, I wasn't crazy about it, but I most definitely did not hate it. After more listening to this song, it's really grown on me. Very very catchy. I think this generation is WAY too close minded. They immediately decide they hate something before even giving it a chance. Whether they listened to the song or not. I've seen people say they hate this song just based on some assholes review of it. Just 'cause some asshole bashed a song, that doesn't mean you have to agree with them... As a big fan of Owl City, I've listened to this song probably 5 times. It's worst thing he's ever created, and it pains me to even bother hearing him lazily rap corny lyrics while teenage girls sing along in the background.
In comparison to any song on All Things Bright and Beautiful, this is just pathetic.
You don't even find the chorus catchy? All I hear that people hate it seems is the beginning with the "rapping". What about when it picks up at 1:05 to the chorus? You don't even like that?
It's good if he wants it to be the theme song of another Disney TV show about friendship... and in comparison to many other choruses, this one is lyrically weak and not impressive.

That's fine if you genuinely don't like this song, but please don't leave hurtful comments under his videos like this. If you're as big of a fan as you say you are, then you should always support Adam and his music without judging him so harshly. You won't turn on him the minute he makes a song you don't like. You wait for the next one to see if it's more to your liking. How would you feel if someone called your song, "Worst song of the year." Or "A pathetic train wreck" ? These are things I've heard others say, but you get the idea.
When I'm not crazy about a song, I don't try and think of hurtful ways to say how much I hate it while comparing it to other songs of his. That's just unnecessary. If you feel you must comment something negative, at least make it constructive criticism. Anyone who turns on one of their favorite artists the minute they make something that is not to their liking, do not look like true fans in my eyes...

Every beautiful song should have a beautiful video and this is no exception, I love it and the idea that the following videos are a story together seems to me something very original, incredible and special, love the detail of Fireflies and the moment in which Adam gives him the coins was a moment in which a smile formed on my face, I do not know why it is that Adam is interested in his followers and not only in fame or money, I just really liked the video, What a great Owl City!!!!!!

My precious close friend circle consisted 5 friends and myself has gone broken 1 year ago because one of the boy member fell in love with another girl member in the circle and we can't stand to see it, eventually we were fighting and dismissed. Are there a lot of songs out there about friendship, at least right now? If not then how can it be a platitude/cliche? While it might not be the deepest most complex theme (or lyrics) in the world, it's far from empty. Encouraging people to be true and support one another and let your relationship be a light for other people to be encouraged by- only apply those themes to friendship. And put it to catchy upbeat music (have to listen to it a few times for that I admit) and you have yourself a feel good song, perhaps a tiny bit corny but I like corny from time to time myself. Understand if other people don't, I didn't at first and still don't care for some aspects of it.

This will be the third album in a row full of contrived, uninspired, 'whoa-oa' choruses from Adam. Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge Owl City fan - those early albums were my whole life for a while. But this new music hasn't connected in anything close to the same way. From both an emotional and objective point of view his new music isn't nearly as poetic or original as it used to be.
Oh my goodness! This video speaks to me so much. While at college, I work as a janitor in a high school in the afternoons. Now that I am on Christmas break, I can hang out with all my friends again! :D I have the biggest smile ever right now.

Theory time: what if that janitor kid represents Adams younger self, and that girl at the end is Anne Marie? It would make sense since the kid seems introverted and likes music. And that part where Adam comes by with a confident smile and gives him money kinda cements the idea of the past and the present coming full circle. Idk, and the song is about all his friends, but at the end his friends seem to be holding him down, not letting him go to the girl (who could very well be symbolic of something important.) Because friends are amazing, but they aren't perfect.

I absolutely love this song. It does't start out with that traditional Owl City sound but I really really love it. My mom actually didn't know it was Owl City until I told her. Anyway, I've grown up listening to Adam's music and I own every CD he's put out. I'm really glad he's still making music.
