    Has anyone tried using an A/C vacuum pump to collapse the airbag prior to folding?

    • @gaffordsgocoastal

      That’s actually a good question definitely worth a try. Way easier than smashing it with my knee to zip tie

    What do I air it up to to pull my 21 ' 3500# travel trailer? Same year style truck. It's already installed but bought it used

      I would start off around 15-20 lbs and adjust as needed for the feel you like. With our Jayco 25BH which was around 5500lbs I ran them at 20lb and it was a nice ride.

    Can this system be used in the front and rear just to air lift the vehicle for a higher ride height, smoother ride quality but without carrying any loads?

    • @gaffordsgocoastal
      @gaffordsgocoastal 2 роки тому +1

      This system is designed for just the rear but to help with heavy loads. I believe there is a system for the front not sure. I would contact Airlift and check. There are other systems out that are better for air suspension lifts.

    Thanks for the advice on removing the spare and inner fenders. Made it easy except I spent 2 hrs trying to figure how the lowering tools work. Turns out I had a spare tire anti theft locking device that required a special adapter! At least I’ll know how to get the spare off now if I need to. Thanks

    I put a set on my new 2015 Ram,,,never had any problems and worked well for 7 years. I just bought a 22 Ram and now must put a new set on,,, and I expect it will work just as well. It sure does help the truck stabilize heavy loads and minimize truck sag.

      Craig Pants well so far the ones on my Jeep have been installed for almost 3 years and they still hold air and little to no air loss. Will be 3 years in August. Same with the truck. Almost 2 years. And I live in North Texas and we have had several had freezes in the single digits since both have been installed.

    I am getting about 2.5 to 3inch squat on my 2017 when hitched up... seems to be the norm with this truck. Do you feel that you get some of that back with these bags? I am considering the loadlift 5000 but if these do the trick I would purchase them.

    • @redhot3000gt
      @redhot3000gt  5 років тому +1

      Edward, yes sir with these helper bags I get about 1-2” back after I hook up to the trailer. My new trailer is a Jayco 25BH what I normally do is let all the air out hook up then add air as needed to be as level as possible. The airbags help tremendously.

  • @trunkmonkey320

    What pressure do you keep in them during normal driving, and then what pressure do you keep in the bags when you are towing?

    • @redhot3000gt
      @redhot3000gt  4 роки тому

      trunkmonkey320 for normal driving I leave 5lbs or less just to keep them from loosing shape. When towing I run 15-25lbs depending how much weight I have in the bed of the truck.

    • @redhot3000gt

    Great explanation of the install! I have a 2017 1500 GMC and wrestled with which way to go bags or rubber. Ended up using SumoSprings because of easy install, and forget. There just rated at 1000lb, to give that added help. Are you doing anything for sway on the Dodge? I don't feel the need right now on the GMC.

    I decided to see if there was a video on UA-cam after looking at the instructions. Removing the inner fender, and the zip ties to keep the bags compressed were great tips, removing the fender liners made running the air lines much easier.

    Have you inflated with a trailer connected to ensure you are leveling the truck out?

    • @redhot3000gt
      @redhot3000gt  5 років тому

      ab8906, yes I have. With the hummingbird I loaded it up with the WDH with the airbags empty and then filled the bags in 5lb increments. I found with the hummingbird 15lbs works best. With the new trailer it takes about 20-25 lbs. your WDH will help out a lot but make sure you hook it up before airing your bags so you can judge what you will need for your setup.

    Junk air bags. Maintained air pressure for months with out towing anything.. First tow from Vancouver to Toronto with 6k lbs traver trailer the bag leaked mid way.. Then installed another bag in Toronto.. Then the other side leaked on the way back.. All this withing 6 months of installing them.. Now have timbrens solid stuff. No maintainence and nothing to go wrong.

    Curious to know if you have a before and after pic of the sag on your truck? I have a 2017 Ram 1500 that experiences sag towing my travel trailer. I'd like to know how much it helps towing with the bags in place.

    • @redhot3000gt
      @redhot3000gt  6 років тому

      Daniel Ramos, with the low weight of my current trailer there is hardly any sag to begin with. Unfortunately I do not have any before/after pictures of towing. Now I can do a video when we get the larger trailer with the bags completely deflated and inflated.

    • @DanielRamos-ks4ji

    When bringing your truck for service, when they lift your truck up and the wheels hang down, does the airbag get overextended and look stressed? The Ram guy told me that it could snap off. Thanks.

    • @redhot3000gt
      @redhot3000gt  6 років тому +3

      Manny Motta , No just make sure you leave enough airline slack to accommodate for the excess droop. The airbags will not fall out and maintain their shape. Now the ones that bolt to the axel and the frame can extend and break off unless you have a limiting strap.

    Is it better to split your line or is it better to have a single line to each Bag

    • @redhot3000gt
      @redhot3000gt  6 років тому +1

      psychojoe69, I prefer the split line because I can ensure I have the same pressure in both bags. That way if I do have a leak the bags will both deflate instead of one with zero psi and the other 15psi which could cause handling issues.

    • @psychojoe69
      @psychojoe69 6 років тому

      It seems like if you turn hard all the air will go to one side. An if there are separate thay will stay the same pressure no matter what

    • @aguyandhiscomputer
      @aguyandhiscomputer 5 років тому +1

      @@psychojoe69 you shouldn't be turning hard when towing but you make a valid point.
