Currently my 2015 Ecodiesel Big Horn is at the dealer for a coolant smell. The dealer service advisor contacted me and said currently nationwide parts are unavailable to make the repair. I did the EPA software update back in June. The turbo lag is very problematic now and performance has definitely effected the fuel economy. FCA has a recall for the possibility of an engine fire from the EGR. This is a major problem for any Ecodiesel owner now. The new Ecodiesel for 2020 has a terrible turbo lag. I believe that software is the reason for the higher operating temperatures and turbo lag. I didn’t submit my paperwork for the $3,075 refund as part of the class action lawsuit. I believe the other part of the class action lawsuit is a FCA buyback.
I got the recall notice recently about the EGR issue. You are correct about the turbo lag and I had mine retuned the same week. But, with all the concerns about FCA, I am thinking about moving up to a 2500 with a Cummins or maybe go back to a gas truck. I hope it all works out for you and good luck.
any idea how much gain you got? does the system have any gain specs that you think they hit. i just bought a 2016 and doing some homework on a performance upgrade. thanks and nice video especially with one hand. nice job.

Hello..I am considering buying a 2016 ram longhorn ecodiesel with about 75,000KMS on it, have been noticing a lot of info online about the problems etc...will this hot tune be enough to make this truck much better and not cause other issues, I was told a full delete is not required...hope to hear from you anytime, thanks Bruno
@@imountainman Hello...i ended up finding a better deal just last month on a 2015 ecodiesel Longhorn with even more options than the 2016 and $4K less in cost, 10K less mileage... i haven't driven that much, had 1 issue the day i droveit home from the dealer, check engine light went on but no worries, it came with a 3 month/5000K warranty. I took it back and they did a regen on it and it cleared the code. I was told if it returns, the dealer would be replace 2 NOX sensors, and they would cover the cost of about $1200 plus taxes....i'm kinda hoping that engine light pops up lol
So how is the gde tune doing on your truck ? Seeing the benefits? What's your MPG averaging? Is your truck a 4x4? Really considering this tune . Thanks in advance

Hey man. I'm doing the exact same as you. Just cleaned my egr. Used some degreaser but got some on that sock-like sleeve. You think having that on there poses a risk for the sleeve to combust? Since the degreaser is flammable.
What year is your ED? I just bought a used 2015 ED Laramie and am wanting to do this GDE tune as well. I just put in an S&B cold air intake as well. Does your truck have the push button start? Just wondering on the directions if they all apply similarly with the push button as opposed to a turn key. I was going to get the high idle and engine braking. Did you get anything else? What does the flash for the off-road tuning change? How about the oil pressure sensing? Thanks!
Yes great tune but when my dealer flashed over erased the tune. I called gde told them my situation and I needed them to reflash for $50.00 like they advertised. There exact words to me were(WE GOT BUSTED LAST MONTH) and they couldn’t help me sorry. I wish I new the tune was illegal before purchase. Banks power fixed me up legally.
Have you ever checked the egr diffuser pipe since the tune ? I'm thinking of doing the same thing to my truck but I might Delete the pipe completely. And I'm curious to know if the soot is totally gone.
Why did you decide to do this now? All the ED I have driven/used had plenty of power and torque to get the job done. More power is always nice but I don't think its "needed" on an ED. Especially with risk to getting a voided warranty. how many miles on the truck?
+Herb Michelli good luck! i couldnt stomach voiding my warranty just to get rid of the egr. plus removing egr will raise your nox emissions which raise your def usuage... assuming gde didnt turn the def off (which is illegal).
I just read the account of a Viper owner who spun a bearing with normal driving (a current Viper issue). Dodge could detect that he had an Arrow tune on his car for 300 of the 6000 miles on it and they denied his claim (at least initially).
mine (in Canada) has 158000 km. It runs rough. lots of lag and has a bit of a throaty roar. not sure what that is but I'm anticipating driving it to GDE for the tune. I feel like I have a chance to save its longevity if I bring it in.
@@afriesen6 I would highly recommend the GDE. I added the GDE tune not long after I purchased the truck. It will get rid of the turbo lag and improve performance. I thought about doing a full delete, but I will wait until my regen system starts acting up.
I think it would if they found out. From my understanding, it is very hard to detect. My thought was I would rather my truck last longer with the tune. Well worth it.

Nice, u got everything but turbo upgrade. GDE said that stock turbo is restricting that upgrading exhaust won’t help.

Good walkthrough! The ECU arrived yesterday, will be swapping it out tonight. (Hot tune - 2016 w/ 43k miles)
How is the truck running now, did you have the AME recall done at the dealer yet ?

When you say delete the EGR does it remove it physically from the engine or just bypass its function with the flash upgrade of the ECU?

true most dealers are stupid or turn a blind eye...however Ram isn't and they pay the claims. Good luck and hopefully you don't need a repair anyway.

I do still have the truck with the GDE tune. The tune has been great & I would sell it if it wasn't tuned by GDE.

thanks for the information. Ill be heading to GDE in the next month or two. I can't believe how badly Fiat screwed up this thing from stock.
