People can argue all day about price vs performance for spyderco, but they are truly passionate about their products
One of few brands that “go for it” with exotic steels.
Agree, 100%.
You’re never gonna hear “hats off to our bevel grinding department” from anyone else.
Yes but prices on Spyderco is is pricey but waay better than benchmade prices.
price to performance, AND mostly made in good countries....i dont care how good it is, im not spending 200+ for a chinese knife
Spyderco is such a cool company, you can feel the passion in Eric’s voice when he talks about his products! Awesome American company!
Ive completely turned my back on Benchmade at this point. I just dont feel like their prices reflect the quality like my last 3 spydercos do. I have absolutely nothing bad to say about them the fit and finish just feels more premium to me.
I do lol Benchmade can eat the dog shit they're made of
@larshoneytoast722 I meant I have nothing bad to say about Spyderco. Pretty sure Benchmade has more knives over 200 than under now and I just don't see the value for my dollar anymore.
If you are looking for a precision cutting tool then Spyderco is very hard to best.
Benchmade has lost me as a customer. My last couple benchmades have required a complete reprofile because the sharpening angle was so laughably inconsistent. I thought the first one was a fluke,...
Nope, its the new Benchmade standard.
Eric seems like such a down to earth guy!
I have literally avoided spyderco for years because of their looks. I am an avid knife collector who just within this last year finally decided to give them a try. Oh man, ive been missing out. They make such amazing knifes. I cant grow my collection fast enough. I carry two spydercos everyday. Hats off!
Same here. I finally gave Spyderco a chance a couple months ago and immediately bought two more! Big fan now, definitely been missing out!
My first was a Police model with a SS handle and no radiusing at the edges, Gingami 1, fully serrated - in the winter of 1987. 30 or 40 more Spydercos since then, many of which were gifted. I'll be buying 3 more Spydercos shown on this video. The Military has been my favorite platform over the decades, in many iterations and then, cutting edge steels. ... Spyderco always innovates and expands the boundaries of cutlery.
The looks might grow on you once you pick one up and fall in love with the function. Give it time. You can’t say they’re not unique and instantly identifiably for the brand. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder also as they say
You've gotta love Spyderco and their mindset towards innovation and forward thinking with new steels and products. And Eric Glesser is such a down to earth and humble guy that really loves the trade. What a great C.E.O. and great company. Plus they've kept their product prices down compared to other U.S. knife companies. This was a pleasure to watch from the "Shot Show 2024" I'm a big Spyderco fan and have purchased many of their knives through the years. Customer for life.👍😎🙌
Spyderco is the best knife company on the planet. I have a bunch of them and I will be buying more. You just can’t beat their heat treatment quality and passion for their craft!!
The best? No. This is coming from a spyderco fanboy. I mean fanboy.
@@rjlewis8346then you're not much of a fanboy, also best is extremely subjective so his comment is accurate, cope
@@larshoneytoast722 you can be a fanboy and realize they aren’t the best lol
@@rjlewis8346
In terms of performance they are very hard to beat.
@@rjlewis8346best is definitely extremely subjective so I think we'd like to hear your opinion, and for production knives I for one think they're the best, and there isn't even a close second
Spyderco always gets the best performance out of their blade steels. You’d think more companies would follow in their footsteps and get the heat treats down. The Spymyto looks awesome!!!
It’s all the same thing every year with another steel nobody will use and only collect
Spymyto is heat treated by lionsteel. Its not good. Spyderco is known for poor heat treatment performance.
@@odie2763I use every day. But your right. Lots of dorks barely use them if at all
@@odie2763 God forbid people collect things, right?
I say this as someone who does not have a single safe-queen in my collection. But collecting knives is just as valid as using them daily.
Really like both of the PM2 Salt knives. The yellow and black scales have a Transformers Bumblebee 🐝 vibe. Glad I got my order in with the pre-order. Frankly, I’m glad Spyderco is taking its time to get these knives right during production. It’s better to get a well crafted knife late than a glitchy knife sooner.
Where’d you get your pre-order in??
The legend. My FIRST higher end knife was a SPYDERCO, and I've been a fan since. 33 years ago. Carried them into deployments, TDYs, and operations on many occasion!
Some awesome products. I'm looking forward to so many. PLEASE Consider sharing the possibility of a CANIS XL for those of us with bigger mitts. I'd love a 3.8-4. Such a beauty. Yojumbo is such a go-to. Magnacut is awesome. Keep em coming. Thanks for the share and interview from the shot show.
Spyderco’s LC200n is amazing, glad they are keeping it around.
I love my blacked out persistence such a satisfying click when the blade comes out plus it came slicing paper str8 out of the box! It’s my fav edc!
I'm loving the Deadhead-meets-mafioso look that Eric's totally rockin' here!
The Spiderco Native series of knives still remains my utmost favorite EDC folding knives. The weight is a winner on them and as always the corrosion resistance on those blades are phenomenally good.
Eric’s fist smack at 3:05 = 10/10, satisfying thwack. @metal_complex would be proud.
Eric is so excited about his knives which makes me feel the same way!!
Love them or hate them, you can't deny Spyderco is the best
Denied
Spyderco is the only company out there in the large production world that is giving us knives that perform at a high level as knives.. they aren't worried about making fidget toys for hipsters to walk around flipping all day and telling everyone how great the detent is... they are making high performance cutting instrument first and foremost and that Is why I respect spyderco so much.
@@EDCandLace
I understand their quality. I don't care for most of their knife designs. Not everybody is a hipster flipping their knife around. 🤦
@@hectorthrills8193
I have no idea what you're talking about🤷
Not even close.
You ain’t lyin I could listen to him all day long too.
Eric is the best. I too could listen to him talk all day about knives.
The 'Slipit' range of knives are simply the best for the UK/non-locking market. I have the UKPK, Urban, Lil' Native, and Squeak. Faultless fit, finish, walk and talk, and safe functionality. I love 😍 the entuuusiasm from Eric. 🥊
What no PITS? You are missing out. 😂
I just want that Li'l Native LW to FINALLY come out. Preferably in Magnacut.
No knife manufacturer focuses on perfecting heat treat and refinements to existing models like Spyderco.
5:18 ..
sea.. agree.. analogy..
that was poetic 💪🤣
I HAVE GOT to get a Spymyto (or two)! Going to be tough😅
It doesn’t matter where you are in the world spyderco has a knife for everyone
Ok but the real question is more pm2 tantos when
YES!
It's so nice Sal's son Eric is going to ensure Spyderco remains a great knife company for the rest of my life. Sal must be proud.
We aren't "gun nuts", we're firearms enthusiasts.
Would love some more shamans in different blade steels! Haven't been in the knife game long enough to have gotten ones from the past.
There will be exclusive drops this year old the shaman. There always is! Like 3-4 of them.
Thats how I got cts xhp from ebay...
Lil more than past retail,
Love Spyderco, I always carry 2 spydies or my MKM Iconso every day. I usually carry a Yojimbo 2 for self defense, I never have to pull it out. And I carry a M4 Delica 4 for edc use.
Damn...You can Eric has that Spyderco passion... Bodacious looks cool.. and the Salt Pm2.. and the Magnacut Manix lightweights and Para3 lightweights..
man.....spyderco stepping up!!!!! Really looking forward to some of these knives !!!! Well done spyderco 😊
I am a knife maker and make fixed blades. I have only carried fixed blades for years as I live in the woods. I have found myself back carrying spiderco para 2 w s30 and textured g10 in black just to try it and it’s been in my pocket for weeks. Can’t stop fidgeting w it too. My love for folders is back. Need to pull out my ultra tech too
The bags in the back ...wow!!!!
I noticed the fit and finish and the crisp grinds from the Spyderco US Factory are far far better than 10 years ago. Just a great development
I love Spyderco's HT, can't wait to try the PM2 Magnacut! Any eta? Thanks!
so many new things and innovations wow !!!
eric seems like such a great guy. super excited about Spyderco this year!
I F ing love the Bodacious. I would like to see one in 3V.
Why 3v? No thanks. Maybe 63-64rc k890.
@@tacticalcenter8658 because it's a tough steel that's all.
@@Jeffrose_ it's a folding knife.
@@tacticalcenter8658 True but Eric said it has a much stronger lock bar so I figured why not 3v
@@Jeffrose_ cause its not even stainless. Cause its a folder. Cause putting 3v on a folder would be a gimick. Cruewear brings toughness but most importantly, edge retention in a folder. Geometry will help with making it tuff. I think most consumers just consume and not realize the information about knives.
Need some pm2 tantos
And PM3
Love Spyderco, keep up great work Eric and Sal!
"We made this really good knife we know people will love, that's why we're making as little of them as possible"
Nice show, very informative!
Spyderco is the best American knife manufacturer in my opinion. Followed by hogue and buck. (IMHO)
All three are still family-owned!
If I was going to purchase a new knife and it couldn't be another Spyderco, it would hands down be a Hogue Deka! They're amazing knives!
:) This makes me feel even better about being a spyderco knife junkie. 😂 EAT, SLEEP, BUY KNIVES!
Spyderco, Eric - why not use the new coatings name to highlight the greater lubricity? LFC - 'Low Friction Coating'
Yeah I just recently jumped on the Spyderco bandwagon I had known about them but I didn't think there was any better than Kershaw because I love my assisted opening but once I got a Spyderco their heat treat on their vg10 steel is just on another level from other knife companies I mean it's got unreal Edge retention just such a good quality built knife I'm on the bandwagon now I only carry Spyderco
I love ya Spyderco, but we've been talkin about the Lil Native LW since SHOT Shot 2022. Let's get those guys out in the market already! :)
You can see the love for Spyderco. This company is just amazing.
Knew I would wind up with more than one Military 2... just didn't realize it would be so soon!
Really digging that lil native lw back lock.
Can’t wait for this new coating
It's a Joy to see Eric grow are the new CEO after Sal retired. Gotta give him props on his beautiful hair.
The Bodacious looks like a must buy. I'm excited to try one after hearing Eric describe it.
I was hoping to hear some details to the Manix Salt. Especially the material (corrosion restistance) of the ball bearing and the spring.
Does someone know?
I would guess the ball is going to be ceramic possibly now and the spring steel could be Lc200n but highly doubted.
I was hoping for something new with the shaman.
Magnacut Shaman is a dream of mine!
@@CodyLeveringtonbro! Amen!
You can hear the passion in Eric's voice
Eagerly awaiting my Blade HQ pre-orders: Manix 2 Salt and PM Salt. When are these shipping?
I hear people say Spyderco knives all look the same, are the same thing over and over etc but I can't believe they are even knife people if they can't discern subtle differences and appreciate constant improvements on classic designs
Are the magnacut salt pm2's regular production knives?
All I want is a Pacific Salt in Magnacut. That knife IMHO the best all around knife you can buy for work and personal that does everything well, is super durable and needs zero upkeep. It’s long enough to cut line, wear gloves with, slice meats while camping, take to the snow, high output activities and I dont need to worry about crud getting stuck anywhere. The tip is slightly downturned to make it less stabby but can still pierce material. It’s truly the best knife I’ve ever had. And I have almost every Salt they make. Please make that the next magnacut release.
Although not featured on the video they are coming out with a Manix 2 XL Crucarta ( my pre order is in). And the Military 2 Crucarta is on my "to get" list.
Very cool guy who gets to play with and produce knives all day. What could be better!? I have one Spyderco that’s 15 years old or so. That MagnaCut Paramilitary 2 all black salt has my name on it!
I'm so excited for the Spymyto
Whatever happened to the PM2 with the bowie blade from blade show last year? Everyone was psyched about it.
Was hoping for a new shaman. The bodacious doesn't look as comfortable with its flat handles.
And lol at no mention of H2, magnacut killed it.
They still have a bunch of knives in H2. H2 is a super-steel that is more for specialized users, and that's more so now that there are some other steels that offer extremely good corrosion resistance -- though not as good as H2. H2 has a super power -- it is a super steel. But most people don't need it.
BTW, H2 is used in the new Salt Stretch 2 XL.
I love the Salt line
I live on the beach and surf fish , and they are real working knives . The dragonfly 2 salt is my line cutter .
I can't wait for my spyderco manix 2 xl in cruecarta
I don't see the hollow grind announced in the reveal and on their website on that SpyMyto, makes me a bit anxious about my pre-order
Dear Spyderco...
It's time for a wharncliffe Shaman!
FDE damn it, my wallet is crying 😮💨
Loving the Bodacious
High quality and lower comparable cost with awesome design. You can’t beat spyderco
I bet the new coating is going to be black nitride. Been seeing it pop up on aftermarket pistol barrels lately
How about sending out the CruCarta’s I ordered from you back in October but still haven’t received?
The Native Chief Salt is soo cool! The Stretch 2 needs to get the same MagnaCut and/or LC200N with the full flat grind because this current H2 hollow stuff is not what we like.
Ordered the PM3LW in November ... Been counting the days... lol
That bodacious looks sweet! As does the Manix in magnacut
for Fucks sake shim that TABLE
Ok. So now the important thing… can we please get a mint green Dragonfly 2, and Chaparral LW, both with black coated M4 please?! BHQ exclusive man! I already have the M4 mint green para 3 LW and Delica, I guarantee I’d buy two dragonfly’s and a chaparral. You’d make my decade!
That’s awesome 😎 I have a couple sage 5 mint M4’s,yojumbo jade M4 and a manix 2 lw mint M4. Love that combo.👍🏻
His cruwear is amazing!
Excellent!!
I wish they would put a satin blade on the all black handle of the Paramilitary 2 Salt series it would look awesome with a satin magacut blade i hate coatings .
When will the MagnaCut knives be shipping?
The year is 2055, and people are still waiting for their pre order Spyderco Paramilitary in Magnacut to ship.
I’ve already got my manix lw in magnacut 😅
Yup, got the manix 2 salt myself 👍🏻
@@hayden1590 from Blade HQ?
@@hayden1590 just curious how much are those going for??
Just ordered a Military 2 with S110v, cant wait to get it!
I have the s30v version. And if you like the PM2 you are gonna love the Military 2. 👍🏻
As soon as I get my Spyderco UKPK in magnacut(yellow FRN), I'm immediately going to switch its magnacut blade onto the bright green FRN handle of my LC200N UKPK👍
Can't wait to get these is 2025!
the bodacious did not lose the forward finger choil, it got rid of it;)
There are the time codes???
Love me some Spydercos and carry one daily. I lean towards the larger ones such as the Shaman, Chief, and Military 2. But please Sir give us a Shaman FIXED blade. That would be the ultimate for me.
Eric is such a cool guy
Please Make Enuff2 / street bowie in Lc200N and Magnacut.❤
I like this guy. He knows his product.
Always love to watch interview with Eric
Spyderco killing it again
The bodacious should be standard in magnacut or 15v. A new model with old steel. Come on spyderco
I wanna test put this new mystery coating. Looks like I'm buying another dang pm2😂... And lil native lightweight.
hoping we get the blacked out salt magnacut in para 3!
Toughness, that's what Lc200n has over Magnacut. But Magnacut has much much larger hardness range making it more versatile overall.
I need that crucarta military 2 when will they be made available? Also please start selling replacement screws on your website so you don't have to send your knife in or get some random aftermarket screws when the original ones fall out.
I have a para3 built up just waiting for the magnacut blade to drop in
Just finished a “MagnaCarta” manix 2 . Awesome knife. Hopefully they drop more maganacut soon.👍🏻
