Spyderco is the uncontested king of R&D with new materials when it comes to production knife companies. Sometimes, I find myself thinking that they don’t introduce completely new models often enough. Then, they reveal some crazy new material that they’re bringing to market that blows away the performance of previous materials or caters to a niche market that is generally overlooked (think Salt series). It’s really cool to see and makes me want to support them even more than I already do. And, it’s so apparent that Eric is truly passionate about what he does. That excitement is contagious.

From the looks of the latest catalog and Eric’s comments on their heat treat research, it seems like magnacut might be getting the same treatment, too. @davidgarrett5671 also interesting if you watch the Spyderco vid KC released yesterday Eric even talks about using the Mule team and how all the feedback on their 1st heat treat was that it wasn't performing, so they tweaked their process to get their Magnacut right. So that's 3 large knife companies that increased the hrc on their magnacut due to the lack of performance at softer heat treat. If Spyderco agrees with me on the optimal heat treat for Magnacut I suppose that's good enough. Maybe you and other dude can start telling Eric Gleaser how wrong he is for not thinking softer steel is ok.

Most boring company to date nowadays. Zero innovation whatsoever and luring customers in by a simple supply chain tactic. You literally know when spyderco is going to drop something new is when a certain model sits on the shelf for so long. That way they can say "hey we have enough stock of this, time to slab a new steel on the cutter and order a new color plastic or g10!" to whip up a frenzy in all the collectors that just have to have the newest thing. They do nothing except recycling the same stuff over and over again with a new flavor or sprint run that nobody uses because nobody will know when it's going to drop again. The bording little funko pops of the knife community just driving people to collect more and nobody actually uses.

1:the closed profile is awful and the hole makes it unnecessarily "wide" (or tall I guess).
2: the pocket clip is so damn ugly and sucks, I run mine loose in the back pocket and the thinness and lightweight natureof the knife makes it real easy.
It slices awesome, is so easy to resharpen and has huge fidget factor.

Really looking into getting one of those black PM2s, and I'm happy I came across this product reveal with Eric as he mentioned they're working on moving to a new and better version of the black coating on those blades by the end of the year. So I guess that will be my Christmas gift ;)

Eric, will you guys ever do a VANAX sprint run? Maybe a Manix 2 or Native 5?

I've been looking forward to the Lil Native lightweight for a while, and I'm glad they took their time with it. It really seems like they took the time to do it right.

For a second i thought he said that you're manix might have machine marks on it and i was like... 😭 Why. But he said that the one in his hand had machine marks and ours won't😂

How about other colors = Magnacut, as well...

The frn is a little to gaudy for me, but the g10 looks nice. I'm excited to see that pattern get spread to other knives.

@@tristandavid2343 I don't care that it's plastic. Frn is more than strong and durable enough for the knives they use it on. I actually tend to appreciate the more lightweight nature on larger knives (think stretch 2). I just dislike particularly gaudy colors. If it was a little more subdued I wouldn't have an issuez

I'm convinced to buy my first Spyderco this year. TY!

Bodacious reminds me of the Bob Lum Chinese Folder with its form factor. But damn expensive. Spyderco is crawling up to Benchmade and getting more and mire unappealing to me.
I love the Caribbean, in my opinion one of the most underrated Spiders. So I need to have the Magna PM2 in some way or the other.

I love new and shiny stuff, but, the older I get I appreciate more simple stuff. Spyderco nails it on the hat with that. You don't need to but out thousands of designs to the market. Stick to your own thing and pull it threw. Have a few models and perfect them. Spyderco knives are definitely tools and they focus on that
