The French lord looked like he doesn't belong, because this battle was actually the opening chapter of the manga. Thorfinn's backstory originally came later, in the anime it's reversed. This episode was based on a chapter when the author still worked on getting 'the feel' of the story and the art.

something I just want to say really quick here... if there's one song, out of all the openings and endings, that I would recommend absolutely listening to alongside every episode as you go... it's the first end credit song in season 2. some anime just kinda tack cool music videos on the front and back of each episode... but this anime is art, and that ending song is absolutely part of the piece. edit around it if you have to, but I think it benefits the viewing experience to hear it.

For the entire rest of the story, no other jarring character appears and nothing as outlandish as them carrying the boat across land happens again, so don’t worry about that stuff

i notice that you guys especially Cannon, Carter enjoy epic battle scenes, i think what Naruto serves with various, mindblowing and cool jutsus like sharingan, amaterasu, edo tensei, rasengan, shadow clone jutsu, sage mode etc, and endless epic battles there will definitely make you guys so hyped. every character shines in their own way they’ve got their own talent, specialty and jutsu and you’ll love every each one of em no doubt

I decided to pick a the manga from where the anime left off a a couple days ago. Each season covers about 50 chapters of the manga and I'm at chapter 160 now, the end of the baltic sea war arc. I absolutely loved the first two seasons and it's one if my favorite anime but at this point, vinland saga has become one of my favorite pieces of fiction ever. You guys have no idea what's in store.

no amount of inbreeding results in a person with that guy's proportions, although the author might have been thinking about that while doing the design. but the design being SO exaggerated is almost definitely a result of that episode having actually been the first chapter of the manga and the author not quite having settled on how consistently realistic he wanted his character designs to be my only issue about the anime adaptation tbh is that whether they wanted to go for the inbred royal vibe or not, the adaptation was a great chance to eliminate the one character design in the whole series that doesn't fit at all, but they didn't do that, and after several episodes of high realism, it's even more jarring not a huge deal but it bugs me sometimes

Now think what would happen if a brother/sister duo got children. I know it because my country has a history of inbreeding between royals. This resulted in heavy damage - be it braindamage or deformation. For example the royals here had deformed lips - that in fact made them look horrendous. Physically they were also way more frail than others too. Edit: Also im pretty sure that it was intended to show inbreeding because the only "deformed" beings are royalties from what ive seen so far. If other non important characters would show deformities in that way I would assume that you are right. But so far it all points to the fact that the Author tried to give us a realistic glimpse into royalties back in medieval times.

Thorfinn is basically Eren, if Eren sided with the alliance and chose to make peace with the outside world, but in the world of AoT that seems kinda impossible, so Eren turning into the villain of the story is more fitting with his character.
yes, but Eren was capable of killing people as a 9-year-old with much more ease than Thorfinn! thorfinn just seemed to struggle more with his first kill and he even vomited seeing a dead body, but Eren would murder with no problem when it comes to his loved ones or his freedom...

As far as I know, they took their time to get into anime because they hated shonen tropes, so that should be a plus if anything.

I think the fat guy seems so out of place because this was actually the first chapter of the manga, so maybe the author was still trying to find his style and then settled with a more grounded artstyle.

And now after I finished season 2 realized I was actually right :)
people really thought he was going the Eren route but I could feel it in my core that he has an Armin inside him 😄
Thorfinn is basically Eren, if Eren sided with the alliance and chose to make peace with the outside world, but in the world of AoT that seems kinda impossible, so Eren turning into the villain of the story is more fitting with his character.
yes, but Eren was capable of killing people as a 9-year-old with much more ease than Thorfinn!
thorfinn just seemed to struggle more with his first kill and he even vomited seeing a dead body, but Eren would murder with no problem when it comes to his loved ones or his freedom...
@@killerastronaut_ I mean, Eren did cry when he realized he's gonna kill people, and he's depressed inside his titan waiting for Mikasa to stop him, but yeah he's basically the villain of the story, he's a victim of his own self which is ironic, he pretty much put himself in this situation so he has no other person to blame but himself.
@@kostasspirou1010 yeah I understand! No one told Eren that he has no enemies:) but I still think Eren is a far more ruthless person than Thorfinn and if it was him losing his father he'd kill Askeladd in his sleep day 1 😂
