Mark actually changes up his first guess. He makes it harder on himself, but it's a more honest way to play I suppose. I always use SIREN and OCTAL and that makes it pretty easy lol
@@tchpowdog That's not really possible for Mark because he plays on Hard mode. So if any from Siren are in there (and odds are they are), octal is no longer allowed.
@@tchpowdog I like to eliminate vowels as soon as I can. I used to go with ARISE and CLOUD, but now that I started playing hard mode I start with CLEAR and see where I go from there.

Interesting how I as a Swede went for "Chest" immediately when Mark struggled for so long. Probably because my vocab is relatively limited in comparison. I'd never heard many of the words he came up with.
@@magnusolofsson749 I have the same situation with my native language, I play both versions and most of the time I get the English word 1 or 2 guesses faster Although chest was the word that took me 6 guesses, and I definitely didn't think of it quickly even though my letters were already C*EST, and my first guess was "crest", but luckily I didn't tyoe it in
Me too, but it's because I (Dutch) have gotten used to not understanding obvious words because of English word conventions. (Like using TH, CH and a Y at the end). So my first thought was: how is this puzzle trying to trick non-natives?
This shows me a couple of things. First, that a lucky first word is key to solving these in two or three guesses (I did this one in two guesses, with GHOST as my first word). I like it. He has the ability to come up with the most unexpected 5-letter words when given an arbitrary set of restrictions so often. There's something about knowing that even a cross-word champion sometimes needs to rummage about his vocabulary for half a minute to come up with a valid guess. So I found this very enjoyable, and well done delivering the "Okay this isn't Wordle in a Minute, this is Wordle at all" line. Made me laugh out loud.
