What is the transformer with the second white wire wound in the lower left corner and the brown (red) wire wound in the upper right corner at 0:10 in the video for what? How is it made?
How are you running the input I have a amp when the input swr is at 3 it does 300w out but if I tune the input to 1.2 swr the amp only does 30w output just can't get it to tune in

CazyDayz I don't think anybody actually sells full-blown kit other than if you want to get into the wide banded ham related kits over at communication Concepts but every once in awhile I will put together a kit for someone if I talk to him and feel like they're in it for the right reason and I know a few of these guys are full blown amp Builder now

Could you show the technique to wrap the blue and white one? I can't figure out how to start it and make it look neat. I know you want to go blue-white in order into the toroid from one end but it's the starting that I can't get right? Rob Berger yes I have thought about doing this before it's just that I stay so busy just so backed up here for the last 2 years I just have not had any time and it's hard to put together kits and make them profitable about the only way you can do it is charged for the labor of putting together the kit or markup the cost of the parts but if you go check out communication concept that is a website that does cell kit and these kits are old school Motorola designs

Easiest way is with a diode check on your multi meter just to see if the pill is good or not. Flip bottom leads up and top leads up. Check red lead to bottom then black lead to top...if you get a reading like .500 or 500 etc...your good so far...then move your black lead to ground or your emitter....if you get another reading about the same your transistor is more then likely good :)

Just matters what design your going by. If it is a 4 pill then it will be 3 wraps.... I honestly don't remember the length just wrap one till it is a good length then make any others the same exact length

My carl built 4 pill 2879c box blew the output combiner 2w 100ohm resistor. I had high swr at the time and had a slight high dead key even though i only had a Anytonrle 5555n2 driving it. Nothing else looks brunt or popped. All 10ohms are good. I assumed my pills might be ok? I was told the 10ohms could still be intact but the pills blown If the transitor Base opened. So I'm wondering can I replace the 2w 100ohm and try it? Or should I test the transistors? I don't have a atlas tester or any tech near me. Should I just replace all 4 2879c pills and the 2w 100ohm resistor and then try it? Trying to save as much as I can but learn to do my own work. I was told the only way the output combiner resistor popped and the pills be good, is if the box went into oscillation. I'm hopeful a 2w 100ohms resistor can get my box running again. But I don't want to hurt it more either, especially with my little knowledge and tools.
Only thing that will blow the 100 ohm on the combiner is a fluctuation of HIGH VSWR but this Can come from multiple things... Blown pill, shorter coax, high swr from antenna, short in the output rf path. What I would do is quick key it and see if your watts are the same. If they are then put you another 100 ohm on the combiner and get back to fun BUT make sure you get that SWR issue fixed first before anything. The quick keying needs to be done in a dummy load if you have one.
@1883GotDown I'll replace the 100ohm 2w metal oxide resistor and then add my dummy load and then quick key it. Thank you gate keeper. Your such a inspiration to people like me. I've never repaired anything but I think I can change this and even the pills if needed. So I think I will try it. I know for a fact I had HIGH swr when this happened. I was just bring dumb. I've tuned my antenna since and it's 1.1/1 so I shouldn't have this problem again. I'm hoping my pills aren't popped. Thanks for the response again brother. God bless you man
@1883GotDown OK, My brother brought an old Armadillo 4 pill by my house and wanted me to replace a resistor that burnt. I just guessed and told him to get 1W guessed wrong huh. The one that was there seems to be same size a a 1W though.
@1883GotDown yeah, I don't claim to know a lot about RF stuff but I do have an A.A.S in EET so do know a little about component level. This Armadillo he got definitely needs some attention. I wish I could send you a pic so you can see this mess, lol

Yeah you can't adjust your trimmers going by just swr man...you need a directional watt meter to use between your radio and amp and tune that way.

My carl built 4 pill 2879c box blew the output combiner 2w 100ohm resistor. I had high swr at the time and had a slight high dead key even though i only had a Anytonrle 5555n2 driving it.
Nothing else looks brunt or popped. All 10ohms are good. I assumed my pills might be ok?
I was told the 10ohms could still be intact but the pills blown If the transitor Base opened.
So I'm wondering can I replace the 2w 100ohm and try it?
Or should I test the transistors? I don't have a atlas tester or any tech near me.
Should I just replace all 4 2879c pills and the 2w 100ohm resistor and then try it?
Trying to save as much as I can but learn to do my own work.
I was told the only way the output combiner resistor popped and the pills be good, is if the box went into oscillation.
I'm hopeful a 2w 100ohms resistor can get my box running again. But I don't want to hurt it more either, especially with my little knowledge and tools.
Only thing that will blow the 100 ohm on the combiner is a fluctuation of HIGH VSWR but this Can come from multiple things... Blown pill, shorter coax, high swr from antenna, short in the output rf path.
What I would do is quick key it and see if your watts are the same. If they are then put you another 100 ohm on the combiner and get back to fun BUT make sure you get that SWR issue fixed first before anything. The quick keying needs to be done in a dummy load if you have one.
@1883GotDown I'll replace the 100ohm 2w metal oxide resistor and then add my dummy load and then quick key it.

I've never repaired anything but I think I can change this and even the pills if needed. So I think I will try it.
I know for a fact I had HIGH swr when this happened. I was just bring dumb. I've tuned my antenna since and it's 1.1/1 so I shouldn't have this problem again. I'm hoping my pills aren't popped.

@1883GotDown OK, My brother brought an old Armadillo 4 pill by my house and wanted me to replace a resistor that burnt. I just guessed and told him to get 1W guessed wrong huh. The one that was there seems to be same size a a 1W though.
@@kev4317 it may have been.... a 1w would work to if the box was balanced perfectly they are just fuses to burn 🔥 when there is an in balance
@1883GotDown yeah, I don't claim to know a lot about RF stuff but I do have an A.A.S in EET so do know a little about component level. This Armadillo he got definitely needs some attention. I wish I could send you a pic so you can see this mess, lol
