I loved this game back in the day.... I remember it got kind of boring after a short while BUT THEN i figured out you could click on things to see what happened and then i figured out there was thieves aswell :) Combine that with the computer being at my grandmothers old house with no internet this game was a blast back in the day :)
That is why I put in the effort to find my original Packard Bell computer from around 1995 or 1996 so that I can play vintage PC games again. They are some of the best games in my opinon.
LOL I'm sorry but the fact you put a bunch of wintery log campus right next to the school... wth? As a kid, I was VERY anal about where my houses went.
I love this game! It one of my most favorite growing up. Now we have more awesome games expanded from this game. The sims simcity. How the time passes.
Finally found this game. Graphics looked far more realistic in my childhood. And there was a house with snow falling from the roof. Wish I could see this one again.
I remember hoping to finish whatever the teacher in my middle school computer class would get us to do, just so I could load this up and play as much as I could lmao. Oh man, the nostalgia. Great memories.
this is the game of my childhood, I played it everyday at school, they had it on the computers and you were so cool if you played it, music seems even more halarious now than it did then =D I have a disc sitting around my house still of Sim Town, I also have Sim Coaster and Sim Theme park... but Theme Park never worked, and Sim Town doesn't run on Windows 7... =( thanks for the blast to my past in this video xD
oh my gosh this brings back so many memories!!! i used to play this all the time when i was a kid, when i was bad my parents didn't even have to spank me all they said was you're no going to play sim town for 1 week and i would beg them to do anything but deprive me of this game! i'm gonna go play it, we still have it ;)
Feeeeeeeeeeeliiiiiiiiiiiings. I was playing this when we got our very first PC when home PCs started being a reasonable thing in '95 or so. You crazy young'ns.
This game was made for toddlers, SimCity 1, 2000, and 3000 as well as every other 90's Sim game wasn't like this. Not many 90's games had useless sound effects.
Aaa i have a history with this game, it was so great to play it. Only thing that bothered me was that the characters didnt have that customizable clothes and every human just looked very plain.
@Halinallen didn't give me the option for compatibility mode... funny thing is... I didn't even have to install the game... I'm so surprised this disc still works... it's easily over 10 years old! takes a while for it to load buildings and stuff im guessing because the state of the disc... but it is nice to play it again! thank you, I forgot I had Windows 7 home premium so I can play most CD's that XP could! thanks for your help even if I didn't use it! ^_^
I got this when I was 6 or 7. Not Sim City, not Simtown JR. The real Simtown. Couldn't get the people to go outside the green circles around their homes. Roads and bike paths wouldn't take them farther due to a bug. My towns were dreamlike utopias until they got too big, and then transit and natural resources became the root cause of all sorts of societal suffering. What of the "voyeur chimneys"? All they taught me was excessive surveillance won't do you any good and is a waste of time.
My cousins only had a demo of this when I was little but I'd play the BEJESUS out of it. Downloaded the full version today! SCREW MODERN VIDEO GAMES, ALL I NEED IS A COMPUTER RUNNING WINDOWS 95 AND A STACK OF CD-ROMS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just because Maxis doen't sell it anymore doesn't make it freeware. In fact, it's actually illegal to download it for free. Copyright law doesn't work like that.
True enough, however, I highly doubt anybody who worked on this game is being compensated any more. It technically is illegal (in many countries, not worldwide) but I'm pretty sure Maxis is no longer pursuing people who are pirating their out-of-print titles. If it's out of print and people want it, well, it's easier to just download it. Maxis has already made their profit and that's enough for them.
jesus some of those building sprites are so ingrained into my memory I would immedietly recognize them no matter the context

That is why I put in the effort to find my original Packard Bell computer from around 1995 or 1996 so that I can play vintage PC games again. They are some of the best games in my opinon.
You can also click on the buildings and they'll do different things!
SimTown was my introduction to the Sim games, before I even tried SimCity... Then EA announced The Sims, and I knew it would be great.
I'm 20 and I used to play this for hours. I definitely feel old now. BUT I DON'T CARE.... I LOVE SIM TOWN!! I wish I still had it!
LOL I'm sorry but the fact you put a bunch of wintery log campus right next to the school... wth? As a kid, I was VERY anal about where my houses went.

This is clearly the game that SimCity Societies was based on.
This game is the reason I became Sims-lover
I loved this game when I was a kid. Played it on my dad's 1st gen purple iMac ^^
I really miss my childhood.
Even I too young to understand English I just played and enjoyed.
+I learned “bulldozer” through that game lol😂
I am 17 years old and live in the U.S.
I was playing this game at the age of six as well.

They're not old if you feel young at heart and enjoy similar things like you did in the days of old!
0:00 Aaaaa that 2000s intro titles. What a good times
Amazing game! Those years ago playing it in 1990s...

Feeeeeeeeeeeliiiiiiiiiiiings. I was playing this when we got our very first PC when home PCs started being a reasonable thing in '95 or so. You crazy young'ns.
You should have clicked on one of the houses to look inside. That was always my favorite part... : )
My first city building game.
I remember when they had a little black cat on here named "Booradley" and a boy named "Beavis"..good times
Oh man, memories of my 386.
Oh I MISS THIS GAME SO MUCH, including SimTower
This game was made for toddlers, SimCity 1, 2000, and 3000 as well as every other 90's Sim game wasn't like this. Not many 90's games had useless sound effects.
i MISS THIS GAME
I played this game a lot when i was 3-5.

I loved this game from Japan
I wish I could play this again.
Ahahaha I remember this game. I used to play it for ages as a kid.

Memories.
Aaa i have a history with this game, it was so great to play it. Only thing that bothered me was that the characters didnt have that customizable clothes and every human just looked very plain.

I use to play this in school my computer class and classroom
I got this when I was 6 or 7. Not Sim City, not Simtown JR. The real Simtown.

All they taught me was excessive surveillance won't do you any good and is a waste of time.
Later I should open a stand alone arcade that looks like that, it would be awesome!
Haha you got Big Bear and Tijuana Mexico right across from each other...GOOD TIMES!! LoL
omg i loveeeeeeed this game :D
You can download it for free now. Maxis no longer sells this game.
I can't not thumbs up this guy
I remember this but I must have been like 4.... it seemed a lot different! lol
nostalgia
The music sounds like some "WACKY AND KOOKY" version of rock-a-billy or something. :B
Next time you should try holding shift, no honks, just massive areas of grass
hold the shift key when you put grass, and it will layout a rectangle. Sooooo much easier
My cousins only had a demo of this when I was little but I'd play the BEJESUS out of it. Downloaded the full version today! SCREW MODERN VIDEO GAMES, ALL I NEED IS A COMPUTER RUNNING WINDOWS 95 AND A STACK OF CD-ROMS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
looks so much like the new sim city game
Just curious if there is a way to still get this game? But for a laptop or tablet not a pc
me too, i had this game
Scarily Similar to Sim City: Societies actually.
USE THE SHIFT KEY FOR THE GRASS!!
ahhh memories
@SuperSonicFan932 But it does run on Windows 7. :P Run the simtown.exe from \WIN95\SIMTOWN\ in compatibility mode for windows 95 and it will work.
BEST GAME.
Just because Maxis doen't sell it anymore doesn't make it freeware.
In fact, it's actually illegal to download it for free.
Copyright law doesn't work like that.
>>> CLICK AND DRAG TO PLANT GRASS
My son wants this for his birthday 🎉 and idk if I can make it happen or not
When I put the disk in and run it a message comes up saying "The program 'setup.exe' is missing or damaged!" How can I fix this?
True enough, however, I highly doubt anybody who worked on this game is being compensated any more. It technically is illegal (in many countries, not worldwide) but I'm pretty sure Maxis is no longer pursuing people who are pirating their out-of-print titles. The only way you could get it legally that I think of is Ebay.
Cool
Maxis is owned by EA which tends to have no respect for the law when it comes to outdated freeware games.
@kdizzleproductions me 2 i love this game along with the othr old sim games like sim park or sim tower :)
Wow. This is quite possibly one of the oldest videos I have ever watched on this platform.
