That is my favorite handle design and I would be all over these. If they decide to do a soft comfort grip I would prefer the Gearwrench style. Good stuff TtT
After watching your video I was so excited because I just finished pricing out what a Snap-On and a Mac was going to roughly is going to cost 245 to 270.. I went to Tekton and ordered those ratchet and the screwdriver end cost me $55. In a little bit of time and it turned out fantastic thanks bud.
Love the idea. Actually done that with a snap-on that needed a better handle. However, I don’t like the Tekton handle. Their handles are too slippery and if you have oils, etc., on your hands, their nearly impossible to grip effectively abs safely. Beyond that, I like the Tekton brand of ratchets
Got nearly a grand of tekton stuff in the cart, but gun-shy about putting in the order because black friday is so close. How was tekton sales in the past?
If the ratchet head broke maybe but most likely not if the handle did. But even if this broke I wouldn't warranty it. I would just do it all over again
That’s true. Your videos made me buy a lot of tekton I went from snap on to tekton because the price is so affordable so I want to thank you for making these videos because I saved a lot of bucks
I'm surprised Tekton hasn't done this yet! It's the only reason I haven't bought one their ratchets, because I wanted a comfort grip. I already own the red handle screwdrivers and hex drivers with the black tri-lobe grips. They should use both their grips on their ratchets!
As a fellow machinist, nice. Although I believe that .003” may be a little large for a press fit of that diameter. Did you use the machinist’s Handbook for that fit, or did you just wing it? Lol Great video though man. Also: PLEASE talk to Tekton about making a locking flex head, comfort grip version of their ratchets. Like the Carlyle R12LFQR. I know if they made a ratchet like that, it would sell like fucking hot cakes.
Haha thank you and I actually used a cylinder die and slid it in the handle to figure out the diameter of the ratchet I need to trim it to but didn't take into account letting it breath lol. And I completely agree I hope they will do a locking comfort grip as well. Fingers crossed I know they have heard alot of people ask for it
Personally I think it looks great Tony ...proportionally I would think that you would want that inch sticking out.... also keep in mind that almost all ratchet manufacturers with a comfort grip it only goes about two-thirds of the way down anyway
Thank you!! And ya I just wish I would have either cut down less or got it pushed in the rest of the way. Either way I'm still happy about it. Thank you!! 👍
It might just be the video bc it's about the same size as all my other comfort grips but that's still not a bad idea. Thank you for sharing your thoughts
take a needle fill it with acetone and shoot it into the handle, let it set and then try hammering that handle on some more. It may work, great demo tho ya know maybe you can press it well enough that you wont even need that glue.
Thanks and ya I don't need the glue. If the press fit is this tight I don't think the adhesive would be necessary. I might try acetone and see. Thanks again
I love this. I got super excited when I saw the video come up. A little disappointed, but really hoping they make this. I know I'll be signed up for at least 3 different lengths if they make these handles
Great job, Triple-T! Show us the final result on this ratchet project and what the price would be on building one for a sale. Would you give a lifetime warranty as well?😂
Well it is a comfort grip just not a cushion grip. And ya USA is always a plus 👍 tekton actually does have tool boxes. I just need to get my hands on one to review lol
Dear Tekton the name of the game is to make great tools for a good price, but if you make a long flex head ratchet with a Red! handle you can charge snap on price and I would still buy 3!!!
It's never too late to fix this ratchet, all you have to do is put it in the vise, heat the ratchet rod with a torch for about a minute and then slowly push the plastic ratchet handle in. Cool the ratchet with cold washcloth once the ratchet handle is where it needs to be. Good luck.
It won't move anymore the handle has h3000 hardening compound in it. The only option would be to cut it off. But been using it for a long time now and it's been great 👍
Hmm well let's see since pushing on this handle is more comfortable then pushing on a smaller rod. I suppose that would make it comfortable correct? And it's the first bc I said it is lol 🤣🤣🤣
@@jokersjunction4926 wow I was just messing around how am I a sell out 😂but how you feel is how you feel. It doesn't affect me. My feelings don't get hurt that easy. Take care 👋
As a big Tekton fan I would buy a red handle one 😍yea yea Tekton listen to the man
Haha ya I want to make one with the red handle. I love the red handle
variety is good for sure one color can't please everyone
I made my own too! A 12” flex head 3/8 ratchet with a red hard handle. Glad to see I wasn’t the only one who had this idea!
Agreed. They look so good. I love that red handle as well!
I will %100 percent buy 3 if they make them in a red handles version, one for work, one for work, and one for the truck for emergencies 🔥
Haha if I had the red handle 6n1 I would have made it. I love the red handles
It's a great idea... they'd sell like hotcakes🥞
shit one for thte kitchen cabinet too never too many ratchets
clever! not true cushion but is it hard on the hand if bumping the wrench ??
True not a cushion grip it's a comfort grip 👍 and ya it can be hard on the palm
@@TonyTheTechnician facts
Good video. I wish texton would come out with comfort grips and true locking head.
Ya I'm waiting on that as well 👍
If they make them ill buy all. Those red handles would be awesome to have in my toolbox.
Agreed. I wish they had sold the 6n1 screwdrivers in red when I got these black ones. I might buy a couple bc I really like the red handles
Really hope they take your suggestion. Would love some red handle non flex to go with my Matco locking flex heads
Same here!!! 👍
Are you taking orders? Serious buyer here. If we can get a run of 20/50/100, would you be willing?
I'm going to try and build one a little differently. And see how it does. Then I'll keep you updated
@@TonyTheTechnician thank you!
I hate when I can’t get the last inch of my shaft in there. Ratchet looks good

Will you do these and sell them? I would like one but I don't have a way to mill down the ratchet
I'm going to try another way of doing it with out a lathe and see how it turns out. If it works good then It should be able to be done by anyone 👍
@@TonyTheTechnician I ordered the red handle and the 18inch 3/8 ratchet, I'm going to use a bench grinder to get it down to size.
You could drill out the handle as well to the size of the ratchet handle. And epoxy it in.
@@TonyTheTechnician might try that.
