I have snap on and Matco locking flex ratchets in all sizes but as far as my 1/4 ratchets go, I find myself using my 120XP the most. I really love that line.
the new tekton design is impeccable, check out their new 1/4 ratchets, super slim design, i bought all 3 and taking the 3/8 out first from the package, i thought it was the 1/4 at first until i took out the 1/4, i was speechless.
Ya they are pretty nice and I like the size of the comfort grip. They aren't as bulky as the matco ones. And ya snap on is a good choice as well haha 👍👍👍
@@TonyTheTechnician Another one I liked was that carlyle stubby soft grip, I wish snap on would make one like that were its just a stuby soft grip, they did it with the chrome handles making mini stuby flex and non flex ratchets, they're like under 3inches long i think.
I find those little craftsman 1/4 common set ratchets get the job done and hf 1/4 TW. Any weird angles I use a 3/8 flex with an adapter. That tekton looks cool.
I have several different ratchets but really do not understand the real difference between the different toothed count benefits etc. Also the difference between the arc swing. Use them all the time, I know what I like but could you explain the pluses and minus of difference. Thanks.
With a higher tooth count you get smaller arc swing. Less degrees between each tooth engagement so it's easier to use in tight spaces. Also not directly related but most times with higher toothcounts you have less back drag so the operation feels smoother but the teeth are smaller the more teeth the gear has so making sure it is using a pawl with multiple tooth engagement is key to having strong engagement. Hopefully that helps a little but I'll go more in depth in one of my videos 👍
Good video! I have the same comfort grip Napa Carlyle and love it! I also have the regular handle one you got as well along with there older version pre Carlyle. I have a MAC 1/4 low tooth count that stays home for random use. I have a old Crapsman raised panel that gets washer machine repair duty lol. But I have to say far none the best and most used 1/4 I have thus far is my Pittsburgh Pro rotors head the $16 green handle quick release. I got it on a whim I think eventually I'll get the Icon version. No flex head 1/4 for me yet. I got to say tho I can tackle most small things with the ones I got.
Nice selection. I'm anxious to give one of the new GW 90 tooth ratchets a try. One ratchet that I really enjoy inside dashes and door panels is a Titan miniature 1/4 drive I got at Orielly for like 10 bucks along with a strip of stubby sockets for like another 10 bucks. Both have been life savers in real crammed quarters.
I was waiting to find out what that small head ratchet was. I agree about the 90 tooth gearwrench. Most of mine range from 72-88 tooth and I honestly don’t think it makes a lot of difference
Ya it bothers me not being able to remember lol. And ya I agree. It's nice when working in tight spaces but 90% of the time it doesn't make much of a difference when it comes to that amount of tooth difference. 👍
Tony: You mentioned very loght oil to lubricate, have you tought about the AMSOIL 0W-16 oil? It is PRETTY light, and AMSOIL provides superb lubrication.
good reveiw. I have the texton torque wrench and it is great. my 1/4 ratchets are craftsman( usa) kobalt hf and icon. Waiting for texton to bring out a 1/4 long handle ratchets. You are getting a large ratchet collection like Clay Koon has.
Thanks and very nice. Ya I hope they release a long handle one soon. Haha ya I still have to go through all of my 3/8 and 1/2. I think I have enough lol
Haha now that's a hard question. Alot have different features and are good for different situations. All of these in the video have held up very well though. 👍
We seem to be in a competition for the highest tooth count. Once you get past 60 or 70 teeth, it just doesn't mater to me. A low back drag is far more important.
Nice, Quite a little collection tony. I have a question do you still use your solar ba9 battery tester? What do you think of it. Seen your video from awhile back and was just curious. Thanks tony
Hi Tony, i did buy a gearwrench 81014 it was inexpensive very similar to a craftsman but i had higher expectations haha, if my hand interferes with the selective lever it wont ratchet, that drives me nuts
just so canadians know the silver eagle ratchet is also rebranded as a mastercraft ratchet in black, its the 058-0384-0 ratchet. $20 and its the same ratchet
Have any flex heads for sale? My oldest daughter has been spinning wrenches alot lately and always on my ass about buying her some more tools 🤣 if you have anything let me know champ
Well I did have a box just for work and a box just for home. Now I work on a race car and work supplies me with all my tools so now I have work and home tools all at home
Great collection of ratchets Tony! Big fan of Tekton myself.
Thanks and same here 👍👍👍

Hello again Tony
Thank you for sharing your Collection with us.
Hey and thank you for watching. I always appreciate your support and comments 👍
That unbranded ratchet that you seem to like looks like it could be a Powerbuilt or possibly Titan....just taking a shot.. Good stuff Big T
I looked at those brands too and couldn't find it. I want to say it was another from Napa or matco lol but I can't say for certain either
Hello again Tony
Thank you for another Great Video 👍 Brother, that's a sweet collection 😀 Again thank you
Haha thank you!! 👍
Those gear wrench soft grips would be my go to if I didnt have snap on models!

I find the 90 tooth snap on locking flex head as my go to 1/4. My offset Astro is my 2nd choice.
Nice collection.” But I believe that you are missing one.the extension one I can’t wait to get the whole set of those!!!
Thanks haha I almost got one of those but I'm actually waiting for a nice long 1/4 to be released 👍
Check out the gearwrench 81030. It’s a compact head 12” locking flex 1/4 & bit ratchet.
Ya I have actually been looking at that for a couple of years lol. I think it looks like a great ratchet. Idk why I haven't picked it up yet
It doesn’t feel as solid as most of their stuff but comes in really handy when you need it
@@gregblau8082 good to know thank you 👍
I have a small duralast like your unbranded but mine says duralast, very small and also my favorite, dont know if they still sell
Ya it bugs me so much not knowing. Especially since not a single thing is engraved on the ratchet lol

Completely agree. I think that's why Many companies are staying around the 90t for good arc swing and low back drag.

the small head the no name ratchet looks like it could be a Tone ratchet.
just so canadians know the silver eagle ratchet is also rebranded as a mastercraft ratchet in black, its the 058-0384-0 ratchet. $20 and its the same ratchet

That unbranded ratchet looks just like a King Dick rpc3814 (be careful when googling that lol)
Lmao thanks for the heads up 🤣👍
Looks like it!
I think your mystery ratchet is by Blackhawk.
It is very similar to the small blackhawk 1/4 ratchet but blackhawk seems to have a different shapes handle.
What no craftsman??
Lol no sorry
Hey now torque wrenches dont count...🤣👍 good spread bud! But you need couple extra long handle ones though lol
Lol hey now it's 1/4 so I count it haha. Thanks and ya I do need a long handle one. Just waiting on a good one lol
No HF specials?? 😂
Lol not anymore. I used to have some
the rachet looks to be a older Stanley design
OK, why is it that mechanics prefer the 1/4 " ratchet wrenches? We are all wondering 🤔.
Most man need 0 ratchets this days, I only have 3 😂
🤣👍🤣
The "mystry ratchet" looks like a clone of a koken.
That's what I thought for awhile. It's a ctually a king dick ratchet.
looks like stanley no markings
It's actually from a company called king dick.
Yes, I too will be buying new ratchets for my son... or atleast thats what im gonna tell my wife
Haha 👍
Do you seriously require this many of the same size tool??? This is craziness...
Lol most likely not but when you come across good deals or work with tools over time you tend to obtain more and more.
